Namino, Aso City Description of Ogidake Observatory. On the Namino Plateau in Aso City, there is a mountain called Ogidake, which stands alone at an altitude of 843 meters. As the name Namino suggests, the area is surrounded by multiple gently undulating plateaus, and the fact that it stands out in the middle of them all makes it very eye-catching. In addition to the TV broadcasting tower, Ogidake also has an observation deck with a great view. The view from here is so beautiful it is said to be one of the 100 most scenic views in Kumamoto. On a clear day, you can see Mount Aso to the west, the Kuju mountain range to the north, Mount Sobo to the south, and the gently undulating hills of Namino below. It is also registered as part of the Ogidake Geosite in the Aso Geopark, which is centered around the Aso Caldera. Let’s take off! Today I am at the Ogidake Observatory in Namino, Aso City. The weather is fine, but unfortunately it is hazy and windy. We may not be able to see the spectacular views. Summit You can see Mount Aso to the west. Mt. Aso The Kuju Mountains also seem to be hazy. This mountain is on the prefectural border, so this way is Oita Prefecture. Mt. Sobo Mt.
