CHIANG MAI: La Ciudad de los Templos de Tailandia 🇹🇭
Look at this temple. What a beautiful thing. The amount of detail it has is incredible. Something I found very curious is that there are some temples, not all of them, but some, that women can’t enter. Only men can. Oh, they look very real. This one seems to be looking at you. We’re in Chiang Mai, supposedly the most beautiful city in northern Thailand. Supposedly , we always see people saying, “You have to go to Chiang Mai, Chiang Mai.” We said, “Well, let’s go to Chiang Mai.” So far, we’re loving the city. It’s super clean, like all of Thailand, super clean. There are lots of temples here in this city, and another great thing is that they’re all free, right? Yeah, I mean, there are a couple, I think, that they charge you, but it’s not expensive either, it’s 50 or 20. It’s okay, let’s say, it’s not something, it’s not an exorbitant price, but most of the temples are free, I mean, no, you don’t have to pay anything. So let’s walk around a bit and see what it’s like. There are a ton. There are some we’re only going to go to on the outside. Besides, I’m wearing a tank top and shorts, so I don’t know which ones they’ll let me in and which ones they won’t. But let’s see what it’s like. So join us to look at temples. We’re in the area that would be the old town. Now this bridge is the one that crosses into the old town. If you see it, on that side, well, you don’t see it because you’re too far away, but on that side there are walls and everything around the old town area. It’s a walled area that is, let’s say, the old city. And inside this old town is where the largest concentration of temples is. Temples and everything that’s considered old here in the city. The old part would be like a square. On the map, it’s a perfect square, surrounded by a lake. On the other side, there’s just a wall or a street. Today we decided, let’s go out and explore some temples and take advantage of the opportunity to film a little because we’ve been here for a couple of days. We’ve explored a bit, but not much, and we haven’t entered any temples either. We’ve been lying down and watching movies more than exploring. Sometimes people think you’re traveling and you’re constantly exploring and walking and looking at things, but no, no. When you’re traveling for a long time, it tires you out, and sometimes there are days when all you want is peace and quiet. So we arrived here and we were like that. Look at this temple. What a beautiful thing. The detail is mind-blowing. Well, look at these incredible wood carvings, full of glass, everything, everything, everything, everything super handmade, everything carved in wood. Yes. The detail in the wood is mind-blowing. Here, there’s like a giant stupa, beautiful with Buddhas. It has a Buddha on each side, like all of them. The thing about temples is that almost all of them are very similar, but this one is black. It’s black and white. It’s beautiful and more like wood, but the amount of detail it has is incredible. Wow. I think this is like a mist of water. Yeah. Let’s see. But it gives it a mystical touch. Mystical. Mysterious. It’s beautiful. Look. Wow. It gives a touch of mystery to the place, like it’s a movie. What I love most is the smell of incense here. This enormous temple here is called Wat Chiang Man Wat, which means “temple” and Chiang Man. What Chiang Man. Ah, look how beautiful that is. It has elephants. The elephant pavilion. Yes, I think it’s called the elephant pavilion. These elephants are tremendous and how amazing they are. Wow. There’s another one over here. There are really a ton, no matter where you look. The problem is that many of them won’t let you in wearing shorts or a tank top. So I can enter many of them, like the garden section, let’s say, but not the inside itself. Yes, men do let you enter with this type of Bermuda shorts, yes, but women can’t enter wearing shorts. Something that I found very curious is that there are some parts of the temples, not all of them, but some, where women can’t enter. I mean, only men can enter. And from what I’ve been reading, it’s because of menstruation, because menstruation is supposedly considered something impure or something like that and that’s why women can’t enter. I think here we get to the most famous temple, I would say that this one I think they do charge you admission, right? No, it’s free. It’s free. Ah, well, better. Ah, but look, you can’t enter wearing shorts, or a tank top, or anything. You can’t go inside. I mean, I can enter this whole area of the garden, but not inside. At the end to enter here in this one in the big temple, let’s say, where the Golden Buddha is, they charge you 50 ฿. Only foreigners, obviously and obviously we couldn’t film inside, but yes, they don’t let you film. And there is the Golden Buddha. There are some monks who are talking, reciting something inside. And there are several monks who are sitting there at the entrance of the temple, like in the part closest to the Buddha. They are sitting there. Look, there are monks sitting inside. They are fake. You can’t go in there. If the girl who is wearing shorts entered . If they don’t get me out. Come in, come in. Oh, they look so real. I swear I thought they were real. Oh, I was scared. This one looks like it’s looking at you. Wow, that one looks so real. Wow, look at this. How incredible. It’s beautiful gold. So beautiful. Look at the machine we found right outside the temple, this giant one. It’s a machine that makes, I don’t know, whatever you want. Coffee. It makes coffee. Just coffee. Oh, no, everything, everything. Matcha Latte, hot Matcha Latte, cold Matcha Latte. And it makes Latte, Thai, iced, espresso, cappuccino. Wow. Mocha, tea. Let’s see what it has. It has ginger, lime, matcha. Matcha alone, matcha latte which is with milk, macha with lemonade. Wow. Milk and caramel and cocoa. Pink milk. Cocoa. Oreo. Oh, how delicious is an Oreo one. Kid menu. Ah, children’s menu. Health option. Cocoa matcha. Americano. Oh, it has Pepsi too. Yes. Soda. Pepsi here, look. And sodas. Juices. No, tremendous. It’s about $1, a little more. $1.50. And I think that’s where you put the money, right? No, here, here for the coins. There’s the bill. You do it like this and here’s what it comes out. Let’s buy an Oreo smoothie. Volcano. Why Volcano? Milk, sugar, Oreo, and ice. I don’t know if it’s here. No, I think it’s here. No, how are you going to put the money in there? Oh, no, then it’s here. Yes, but it doesn’t fit. And if it only accepts coins. Let’s see, wait. Let’s hit buy. There , Pay now. There, let’s see. Let’s see… No, cash. Oh, you chose the payment method and here it tells you the amount you have to put in. Now you have to put in the money. It doesn’t fit. Well , maybe there’s some specific way to put it in. No, we’re having technical problems. No, it doesn’t fit, it doesn’t fit. Let’s see, let me do it. No, no. I don’t understand this as [ __ ] it is. I already regretted it. Let it be known that we were willing to try it so you could see it, but the system didn’t allow it. If there’s one thing I love about this place, it’s the number of food and drink establishments and a ton of things, cafes, a ton of cafes, and they sell everything. Hey, now we’re going to go to the night market , it’s already getting dark, and I think it opens at 6 p.m. That market is there every day, so we’re going to go there and show you a little bit to see what it’s like. But this is great. Everything always opens more when night falls. That’s when everything starts to open, all the bars, everything. A ton of food stalls everywhere, more than during the day. There are also some during the day, but much more at night. Yes, but it’s like we’ve already explained. Here people have a nightlife, they go out to eat at night and go out at night because the temperature at night is super pleasant. During the day it’s hot. You don’t know how hot it was today, huh? Julita. Yes, the sun was shining. Strong, strong. But anyway, now at night it’s getting cooler and it’s beautiful to walk. So let’s walk. How far is the market now? 1.5 km. 1.5 km. 2 km. But anyway, it’s nothing for these little legs. It’s nothing. I’m used to walking 7, 8 km a day. Well, here we arrive at the night market. It’s like a bazaar-type market and there are a lot of things. This is like leather. Look, they chop it up there and make it. We’d already seen this in Cambodia too. The No photo says. What we were investigating because we wanted to find out about shipping to Uruguay to lighten the load on our backpacks a bit, and Buddha statues can’t be sent. It’s prohibited, I mean, knives, scissors, toothpaste, and Buddha statues are prohibited on the list. This market is nice. This is the night market bazaar, because later there’s another night market if you Google it, but this is the night market bazaar. There’s like a huge market here, and then there’s another one across the street, but it’s huge. And there’s food here. Also, look at the shirts; the men’s shirts are so nice. The shirts here are really nice, the designs. Yes, those are like linen ones. Yes. Oh, this one is beautiful. Very fresh. Hello. How much? 250. 250. It’s nice. 250. It’s nice. I like this one, and would it look nice on you? I would buy it. I always forget to say, “Hey, thank you,” in their language, which is “khop chai lai lai.” No, that’s in Laos. “khop chai lai lai” is in Laos . Here it’s “khop khun,” I don’t remember. And look how cute the little bags are. And these pashminas are the ones I love. These markets are beautiful. We never buy anything, but they’re divine. It’s just that we really can’t fit anything else in our backpack. That’s why we’re looking into shipping to Uruguay, because our backpack is bursting at the seams; we can’t buy anything at all. No, there are chameleons there. Will it be possible to film here? Because you saw that those who sell chameleons don’t like you taking pictures of them; they charge you for them. There’s like another sector here. And now we’re going to continue a little further along, and then we’re going to cross to the other side to see what’s there. These are the same ones they sold in Cambodia. Yes, the same one. There’s another market here, look. Yes, but this is huge. There’s a market for everything. Everything over there is closed anyway. The amount of ceramic things there. How beautiful. Look, with the carved elephant. I’m dying. Look, these cups are dreamy. Oh, that’s the handle. Of course, it’s the handle to hold it. It’s the handle and it’s an elephant. I’m dying. How much? (How much does it cost?) 200 ฿, which is about $6, a little more. Well, but for this cup it’s very cheap. It’s impressive. What is this? They’re word magnets. Uh, very good. They’re powerful. I can’t go around these markets. I’m going crazy. No, baby shoes, look at what they are. And these are everywhere. Look, it says 150, offer 100, and they’re 100 everywhere. Look at the shots, how nice. Well, we went into one of the little markets, which we didn’t film because there was too much music, but it was like a whole food court that also sold things, but mostly a food court, and there was a stand belonging to a woman who was selling scorpions, which we’d already seen here, we’d seen scorpions, cockroaches, worms. Yes, yes, everything, but the scorpions are what catch my attention the most because I don’t know if they actually eat them or if it’s just something I don’t know about for tourism. I haven’t seen anyone eating that here. Maybe not, in Bangkok I saw a couple of people eating it, I don’t know if they were scorpions or spiders on a skewer. Like that. We’d already finished our tour of the night market. It’s beautiful, but it started to rain and we left. It’s not that different, I mean, they sell the same things they sell everywhere, but the truth is it’s very pretty and very, very big, very crowded. There was a lot of music, so we didn’t film much. But anyway, that market is beautiful, we loved it. Yes, I recommend it. So a good way to end. the day, and also to finish the video, which we’ll be leaving here. I don’t know what the next one will be or where, because we don’t know what we’re going to do yet, but we’ll see you in the next one.
