40 recommendations for exploring Kyoto. While there are countless tourist attractions here, I’ve 
carefully picked 40 options ranging from popular spots to hidden gems. So, let’s dive in.
No.1 Shirakawa Lane Shirakawa Lane is located Central area. It takes 
20 minutes from Kyoto station. Look at this Stone paved Street. This street makes us feel exotic 
isn’t it ? At side there are a lot of wooden buildings and some buildings are important 
cultural property, so please check it out! Walking through shirakawa Lane, you can encounter 
tatsumi Bridge. Around Tatsumi Bridge, it is known for good photo spot so please take memorable 
photo here. Sometimes you can encounter rickshaw although it’s a little costly but you can travel 
with more exotic mood. The detail of rickshaw is in the description so please check it! Anyway 
I want you to feel exotic Kyoto mood and take memorable photos. I hope it will be sunny day.
No.2 Kinkaku Temple Kinkaku Temple is located northeast Kyoto area. 
It takes 30 to 40 minutes from Kyoto station. It’s a little far from central area, but it’s 
worth coming here. You can feel exotic mood and also unique experience. If it’s clear, Kingaku 
temple reflected on the surface of water is much beautiful. It’s good photo spot. And through 
inside, you can get closer to Kinkaku Temple. It’s another photo spot. I think. Through the road 
you can encounter the backside of Kinkaku Temple. It’s also much beautiful, isn’t it? Your tension 
will be maxed and you can have unique experience and nice photo here. So, please come here.
No.3 Tofukuji Temple Tofukuji Temple is located also near Gion 
area. It takes for 10 minutes from Kyoto station by JR. It’s good access I think. Tofukuji 
Temple is one of the most well-known temple in Kyoto. And around Tofukuji Temple there are some 
well-known shrines and temples like Fushimi Inari, so it’s good location I think. Tofukuji Temple has 
unique features. The bridge is attractive point. There are three bridges in Tofukuki Temple and 
from these Bridges you can enjoy great view here, especially in Autumn season you can enjoy 
red leaves. It’s magnificent isn’t it? And the garden is another point. This Garden 
named Honbou is very traditional and quiet. You can see delicate sand, moss and stone pattern. 
Here it’s less crowded so you can feel relaxed and enjoy Japanese traditional Garden. Around 
Tofukuji Temple, there are some small temples, that’s another point. On the way of Tofukuji 
Temple, you can see small but unique temples, you can enjoy a lot of temples 
when coming to Tofukuji Temple.   Anyway the admission fee of the bridge is ¥600 
and the garden is ¥500 but in Autumn season the admission fee of the bridge is ¥1,000. There 
are so many tourists especially in Autumn so early visit is recommended.
No.4 Sennyuji Temple Sennyuji temple is located near Gion and Tofukuji 
Temple. It takes for 25 to 30 minutes from Kyoto Station by bus or JR line. Sennyuji Temple is 
a little well known Temple so less crowded. And there unique features. The garden is attractive 
Point. Simply magnificent! You can see delicate white sand and moss Harmony and beautiful red 
and yellow leaves. You can feel relaxed and take good photos here. And after entering the big 
gate, you can see the downhill. The downhill in the temple is very unique in Japan so please feel 
mystical space. You can see big traditional halls. In these halls you can see big and attractive 
pictures. You can enjoy a lot I think. Around Sennyuji Temple like Tofukuji Temple, there are 
some small temples. Including them Imakumano Kannonji is recommended. This Temple is known to 
bring Good Fortune with relieving your headache. And also this red Tower and beautiful red leaves. 
I want you to come here. Anyway the cost is ¥500. It’s less crowded so you can feel relaxed 
during your visit, so highly recommended! No.5 Ryoanji Temple
Ryoanji temple is near Kinkaku Temple. We can go here with 15 minutes from Kinkaku Temple. In 
this temple, we can feel Japanese four seasons.In the center of this temple 
there are beautiful pond. On the center of the pond there are small 
island. In the island there is a Tamil Tori. This temple is known for the Japanese 
traditional garden. It’s very quiet, isn’t it? This garden reflects Japanese fall 
seasons. So you can enjoy here every time.
No.6 Heian Jingu Shrine
Heian Jingu is located Northeast area. You can take 20 to 30 minutes from Kyoto Station 
by bus or train.It’s a little distant so usually it’s not crowd. Heian Jingu is known for this big 
torii. The height is 24 M and width is 18 M it’s very big isn’t it? Actually 
it’s the biggest torii in Kyoto. You can take memorable photo here. It’s the 
entrance of Heian Jingu and through the entrance you can encounter the main hall
of Heian Jingu. The main hall is reproduced to original which
was constructed over 1,000 years ago. So you can feel genuine Japanese 
history and take memorable photo here Again not crowded, authentic 
Japanese mood so highly recommended. No.7 Okazaki Shrine
Okazaki Shrine is small Shrine compared to other shrines but this Shrine 
is very attractive because of cute rabbit. This Shrine is known for rabbit Shrine. Rabbit 
has a lot of babies so it is said that rabbit is a code of safe delivery and pregnancy. In 
this Shrine there are so many rabbit statues. There are 294 rabbit statues. What a surprise 
right? Anyway Okazaki shrine is near Heian Jingu. You take 10 minutes between two spots so when
visiting Heian Jingu I want you to stop by this Shrine!
No.8 Nishiki Market Nishiki Market is located in Gion, central 
Kyoto area. It takes 10 to 20 minutes from Kyoto station. Nishiki Market has 120 
shops and restaurants. The main point is that you can have eating tour. You can 
eat tempura, fish, tofu, donut and fruits, etc. I think it’s good for lunch, early dinner 
or even late breakfast. In this market, you can experience Kyoto food like yuba, fish, etc. 
Especially yuba, you can experience only here. So, it’s must try. Many shops and restaurants are 
opening between 10:00 a.m. to 18:00 p.m. and around noon there are so many tourists. So early 
visit for late breakfast is recommended I think. No.9 Kenninji Temple
Kenninji Temple is located in Gion area. It takes for 20 minutes from Kyoto station. And 
it’s located near Yasaka Shrine, Yasui Konpira Gu and Kiyomizu Temple. So it’s very easy to visit 
here on the way of these tourist attractions. Inside of the temple, it’s quiet, magnificent 
mood. This temple has over 800 years history. So there are many cultural important properties 
here and there. And in Kennninji temple there are some checkpoints. The first one is properties. For 
example, the south gate. You can see the trace of arrows. You can see many historical important 
traces here and there. You can learn and feel Japanese mood more. And the garden is also 
checkpoint. You need to pay ¥800 for entrance. And you can see the culture swum and magnificent 
gardens. You can see all angles of the garden with maple and moss. It’s beautiful. And you can see 
different view with different season. Especially autumn season, you can enjoy red leaves here. 
At last, the paintings are point at first. You may be a little surprised, but you can encounter 
big wild dragon paintings. It’s must see I think. Also the painting of wind and thunder gods are 
very well known in Japan. It’s magnificent, isn’t it? Although the temple close early, 16:30 p.m. 
So you need to take care about time a little bit, but I think it’s worth coming here.
No.10 Kyoto Botanical Garden Kyoto Botanical Garden is located in North Kyoto 
area. It takes for 25 minutes from Kyoto station. It’s a little far from central, so less crowded. 
The most attractive point is you can see seasonal flowers with relaxed feeling and less crowded. 
For example, about Sakura cherry blossoms, there are so many famous places like Maruyama 
Park, but it’s very very crowded. So you can see Sakura with relaxed feeling I think. But in Kyoto 
botanical garden you can see many seasonal flowers with less crowded. So you can feel relaxed when 
seeing sakura red leaves etc. Of course there are so many layer flowers here and there. You can take 
good photos here and there. Inside of botanical gardens they are big park. So taking something 
out and having picnic is fun I think. Anyway, the cost is ¥200. Very reasonable I think. Around 
Kyoto Botanical Garden, there are some well-known tourist attractions like Kamigamo and Shimogamo 
shrines. I want you to drop by this attractive spot when visiting here.
No.11 Oishi Shrine Oishi shrine is a significant shinto shrine 
dedicated to Oishi Kuranoske the well-known Japanese leader of the revenge in Edo 
period. It takes for 20 to 40 minutes from Kyoto station by bus. It’s a little 
far from central so shrine is less crowded. You can enjoy not only Japanese magnificent mood 
but also pleasure hall which displays artifacts related to oishi kuranoske. You can see them only 
here. So it’s very rare opportunity. Visitors may encounter Hana chan, a friendly mini horse 
residing at the shrine adding a charming touch to the experience. It’s very attractive 
but less crowded. So I want you to come here. No.12 Arashiyama area
Arashiyama is located in West Kyoto area. It takes for 20 minutes from Kyoto station. The cherry 
blossoms in Arashyama, Kyoto are truly a sight to behold, offering a breathtaking natural spectacle. 
Arashiyama with its scenic beauty is famous for its bamboo groves and picturesque landscapes. 
But during Sakura season, it transforms into a dreamlike destination. The combination of 
delicate pink cherry blossoms against the backdrop of the mountains and the serene river 
creates a peaceful and almost magical atmosphere. Arashiyama cherry blossoms are not just about the 
flowers themselves but the overall serenity and harmony with nature they bring to the entire area 
although it will be very very crowded but I think it’s worth coming here!
No.13 Chion-In Chion In is located in Gion area. It takes for 20 
to 30 minutes from Kyoto station. It’s adjacent to Yasaka Shrine and Maruyama park, so it’s very 
easy to access. At first you can encounter big gate. Actually now this gate is the biggest 
wooden gate in Japan. You’ll be overwhelmed I think. After entering this gate, yes steep 
slop, but don’t worry! You can climb up here, a more gentle slope. After going up stopes, 
you can see solemn garden. Actually Chion In was constructed about 400 years ago and at 
present you can see exotic halls here and there. There are many attractive points and among 
them Big Bell is my recommendation. On the New Year’s Eve this bell gets special duty of 
being rung 108 times. It’s Japanese culture and through this process we can wash out earthly 
desires which are 108 different sins and worries. Usually you can see solemn Big Bell here.
Anyway easy access, big wooden gate and big Bell so highly recommended!
No.14 Fushimi Inari Fushimi Inary is very known for this thousand 
torii. Please feel this mystical space. And through thousand torii, we can encounter the 
big Tori. It’s very beautiful and we can climb the top of this shrine through this road. If so you 
walk for 30 to 60 minutes. You have to prepare for particular shoes and usually even weekday 
it’s very very crowded. Uh so I recommend you to go here in the early morning.
No.15 Keage Incline Keage incline is located in Northeast area. 
It takes for 30 minutes from Kyoto station. You can see train rail. Until 1948 this rail had 
been used for carrying the ships. The rail is 582 M and now well known walking road for locals and 
tourists. Especially spring season you can walk under the Sakura Cherry blossom.
Let’s walk for a while. Yes as you can see Keage Incline is well known 
Sakura place, so spring visit is recommended. There are so many temples and shrines 
in Kyoto, so we tend to go around only shrines and temples during Kyoto 
travel. So you can feel fresh I think. Anyway the road is unpaved so wearing 
comfortable shoes is recommended! No.16 Kiyomizu Temple
Kiyomizu temple is located near central Kyoto Gion area. It takes 20 
to 30 minutes from Kyoto station. Kiyomizu temple has four seasons. In the summer, you 
can go through wind chimes. Please hear them. It’s very exotic, isn’t it? And Kiyomizu temple 
is known for this stage. From here, you can enjoy Kyoto view. It’s very good photo spot. Machiya 
Starbucks is near to Kiyomizu Temple, so please come both. Anyway, especially around noon, it’s 
very very crowded, so early visit is recommended. No.17, Kyoto Ebisu Shrine
Kyoto Ebisu Shrine, affectionately known as Ebisu, is a prominent Shinto shrine. It takes for 20 
to 30 minutes from Kyoto station by bus. Ebisu, one of the seven lucky gods, is celebrated as a 
deity of good fortune, particularly in business and maritime endeavors in Japan. The shrine hosts 
various festivals throughout the year with the most notable being the Toka Ebisu festival 
held from January 8 to 12. During this time, visitors can purchase fukuzasa, lucky bamboo 
branches adorned with charms symbolizing different blessings. Beyond its festivals, visitors 
can enjoy the serene ambiance, explore the lush greenly and partake in traditional practices 
like drawing omikuji, fortune slips. It’s near to Kenninji temple or Yasui Konpira Gu. So when 
coming Kenninji temple or Yasui Konpira Gu, please drop by this attractive shrine.
No.18 Kyoto City Zoo Kyoto City Zoo offers a delightful brand of 
history, nature and familyfriendly experiences. It takes for 30 to 40 minutes by metro and bus. 
There are so many rare animals here and there. The zoo is home to over 130 species including 
majestic Asian elephants, playful gorillas, elegant giraffes, and rare red pandas. Many of 
these animals have been rescued and cannot return to the wild, but they live comfortably at the 
zoo. My recommendation is giraffe. You can see and enjoy many giraffes here. My 2-year-old 
son was excited a lot. If you have a kid, Kyoto City Zoo is musty spot. I think
No.19, Maruyama Park Maruyama Park is located in central Kyoto area. 
It takes for 30 minutes from Kyoto station. The cherry blossoms at Maruyama Park are 
mustsee during Sakura season, offering a perfect blend of natural beauty and cultural 
tradition. Maruyama Park, one of the Kyoto’s oldest and most famous parks, becomes a vibrant 
spectacle of pink and white blossoms in spring. The iconic shidare zakura weeping cherry tree at 
the center of the park is especially popular with its long drooping branches creating a dramatic 
and enchanting display of flowers. The park’s atmosphere is lively and festive during sakura 
season with locals and visitors gathering for hanami picnics under the trees. The combination 
of the blossoms, the traditional lanterns that illuminate the park in the evening and the 
cheerful crowds create a magical experience. Maruyama Park’s cherry blossoms are not just about 
the beauty of the flowers themselves, but also about the rich cultural experience they offer. 
The park is a symbol of Kyoto’s deep connection to nature and tradition make it one of the most 
beloved spots for Sakura viewing in the city. We’ve loved here long time so highly recommend it.
No.20 Yasaka Shrine Yasaka Shrine is located in Gion central Kyoto 
area. It takes 20 minutes from Kyoto station. Yasaka shrine is a symbol shrine of Kyoto. I think 
this shrine is loved and believed for a long time. This main hall was reconstructed about 400 years 
ago and still very magnificent and beautiful. I recommend you to come here at night. Beautiful 
light illumination fuses Japanese culture. And next to Yasaka shrine there is Marama Park. 
In Maruyama Park there are some food stores like candies, noodles etc. And this park has open 
space so you can have a picnic here. Especially in spring there are beautiful sakuras here. So 
you can enjoy food and drinks with sakura. Anyway, you can enjoy Japanese culture and feel 
four seasons. So, highly recommended. No.21 Nakaragi Street
Nakaragi No Michi is a picturesque 800 meter long walking path that stretches along the eastern bank 
of the Kamo River in northern Kyoto between Kitano and Kitaoji. The path is lined with approximately 
70 red double weeping cherry trees which bloom in early to mid April. During this time, the blossoms 
create a canopy of vibrant pink flowers enveloping visitors in a sitting and enchanting atmosphere. 
Beyond cherry blossom season, this spot serves as a popular spot for locals to jog, walk or 
simply relax by the river. It’s attractive hidden gems. So, especially cherry blossom season, 
it’s good spot to come. No.22, Nijo Castle Nijo Castle is located near Gion area. It takes 
for 20 to 25 minutes from Kyoto Station by bus or Metro. Nijo Castle has over 400 years history 
so you can enjoy Kyoto culture and take good photos here and there. Let’s enter the castle!
Inside of the castle there are important cultural buildings named Ninomaru. This is Ninomaru. You 
can see luxury decorations here and there. And although the video is prohibited but you can 
enter in this building. You can enjoy Japanese culture like pictures and some traditional rooms.
Karamon, the Gate of Ninomaru, is another Point. Look at gorgeously decorated gate. It’s a 
big and powerful appearance and delicate design. You can take good photos here.
And the garden is another point. This is beautiful and magnificent isn’t it? According 
to the website, this Garden is referred to as the mountain which Immortals lived. You can 
enjoy Japanese mystical mood here. Okay the cost is ¥800, $6. You can enjoy Japanese culture 
and tradition very well and take good photos so highly recommended!
No. 23, Pontocho Alley Pontocho Alley is also located Central Kyoto, 
Gion area. Simply at this spot you can feel Japanese and Kyoto exotic mood especially 
at night. And there are many restaurants especially drinking establishments. Normally 
these restaurants have high price range so if you want to enter these restaurants, checking the 
price is recommended. And if you have a luck you can encounter Maikosan here. Pontocho Alley is 
adjacent to Kamo river so in May to October you can enjoy food outside seat named Noryo Yuka. 
You can enjoy food with night view magnificent! It’s like some symbol of Kyoto so if you plan to 
visit this season, please check it! Actually it’s very well known so especially on weekends you 
have to make reservations as early as possible. Anyway when walking this street, you can feel 
Kyoto exotic mood so I think it’s worth coming and walking here!
No.24 Rokkakudo Rokkakudo officially known as Rokkakujo, is 
a small yet historically rich Buddhist temple located in the heart of Kyoto. It takes for 
10 minutes from Kyoto station by metro. Its name meaning “Six-Sided Hall” refers to its unique 
hexagonal shape. Established in the sixth century, it is one of the city’s oldest temples and holds 
significant culture and spiritual importance. Also, Rokkakudo is renowned as a power spot for 
love and relationship blessings. If we want to make good relationships, Rokkakudo is good place 
to come. It’s located urban area but usually less crowded. So if you want to enjoy Kyoto mood with 
less crowds, Rokkakudo is good place I think. No.25 Shorinji Temple
Shorinji Temple is located near central Kyoto and well-known spot Tofukuji 
temple. It takes for 15 minutes from Kyoto station. Very good access. Shorinji temple is 
a small temple so usually less crowded but has unique features. Flower water is musttry point. 
We should wash our hands before praying in temple. So we can encounter holy fountain in the shrines 
and temples and in this temple this holy fountain is very colorful. Depending on the seasons the 
flower is changed. You can enjoy four seasons and feel excited. I think Japanese umbrella and tatami 
are another massive point. Japanese umbrella and tatami have good harmony and with this garden 
you can take good photo. I think anyway the cost is ¥800. Shorinji temple is small but less 
crowded and nice features so highly recommended! No. 26 Tenryu Temple
Tenryu Temple is located at Arashiyama area. It takes 2 minutes from 
Arashiyama station and 30 to 40 minutes from Kyoto station. This Temple is world heritage and 
known for solemn garden named Sogenchi garden. There are two entrances and when you enter Central 
entrance, you can encounter this Garden at first. Look it’s very solemn, magnificent view isn’t 
it? You can enjoy nice but something quiet, solemn Garden here. There are wooden benches so 
you can sit down to enjoy this Garden. Moving further inside, there are another big Garden named 
Hyakka Garden. Hyakka means 100 flowers, so you can enjoy colorful and exotic Kyoto Garden here.
By the way Hyakka Garden connects another gate and this gate is connecting well-known bamboo forest, 
so this gate, north gate entering is recommended. Anyway you can enjoy Kyoto 
culture, so please come here! No.27 Teramachi Shopping Street
Teramachi Kyogoku Shopping Street is a historic and vibrant shopping arcade located in the heart 
of Kyoto. It takes for 15 minutes from Kyoto station. Thanks to its covered arcade design, this 
street offers a comfortable shopping experience no matter the weather. On hot summer day, it provides 
welcome shade and of cool breeze. It’s super helpful. The street boasts an incredible diversity 
of shops like authentic Kyoto crafts, fashion and trends, delicious and unique cafe, etc. So, 
you can get your favorite one here, I think! No.28 Toji Temple
Toji Temple is located near Kyoto station. It takes 15 minutes from Kyoto station on foot. 
You don’t need to take bus or Metro from Kyoto station. It’s rare and attractive I think. This 
five storied Tower is a symbol of Toji Temple. The height is about 55 M and this is the tallest 
wooden Tower in Japan. Usually you can’t enter the tower but sometimes you can enter inside. 
Please check the website about the information. And illuminated Sakura or red leaves are 
second attractive points. Yes look at this illuminated Sakura with Tower and Hall. It’s 
very magnificent isn’t it? Sakura season is spring and red leaves are Autumn so if you 
plan to visit these seasons, please check it! Anyway solemn Tower and illuminated 
Sakura and red leaves very photogenic!! No.29 Yasui Konpira Gu
Yasui Konpira Gu is located Gion area. It takes 20 minutes from Kyoto station.Yasui 
Konpira Gu is known for Enkiri which means dissolution of a relationship.
People who want to dissolute not good relationship come here and pray.
If you want to dissolute relationship, you write down the detail to this paper 
and then with this paper you go through in front of this Monument like this and then 
go through opposite direction and put paper at this Monument. it is said that this shrine has 
big power to dissolute not good relationship. If you have a trouble about relationship 
please consider visiting here! No.30 Komori.
Komori is located at side of Shirakawa Lane. So, it’s easy to come here. This is appearance of 
Komori. It’s like Japanese old house. Let’s dive in. Inside is also Japanese old style. You 
can enjoy exotic mood here and Komori is known for matcha. You can enjoy genuine matcha here. My 
wife ordered matcha parfait with matcha ice cream, matcha cake, etc. It’s very popular. And I choose 
matcha tea and Manju. Matcha tea is a little bitter but arrogant and authentic matcha tea. 
Also, Manju is sweet bean taste and very good. So, I want to try both. Anyway, you can feel 
relaxed and exotic with good matcha here. No.31, Nakamura Tokichi
Nakamura tokichi is located in Gion area. It’s located in department store and 
it’s directly connected to Kawaramachi station. Good access I think. The inside of Cafe is here. 
It’s clean, white based. Nakamura Tokochi is well known for good tea, especially matcha. 
You can enjoy cold green tea, matcha tea. Nakamura Tokichi has good quality matcha. You can 
enjoy matcha itself, matcha ice cream, parfait etc. We ordered matcha jerry with ice cream. It’s 
very deep flavour but sweet. You can enjoy quality matcha here. The price is about ¥1,000 $7. It’s 
authentic matcha, you can enjoy good quality of matcha with good access here!
No. 32, Ichiba Koji Oanzai is one of the most well-known Kyoto 
cuisine and you can enjoy Oanzai easily here. This restaurant is named Ichiba Koji. Ichiba 
Koji is located in Tamachi Shopping Street. It takes for 3 to 5 minutes on foot from Kawaramachi 
station. It’s good access. This is Oanzai plate. You can enjoy variety of plates at the same time. 
Normally you can enjoy vegetables, small fish, tofu, etc. And at Ichiba Koji, rice and tofu are 
points. The rice and tofu are freely filled, so you can enjoy a lot. Also, you can enjoy chicken 
or beef here. Normally, you can’t enjoy them at the same time, but here this dream comes true. The 
price is ¥2,000, USD14. So, good access, unique combo with oanzai and chicken or beef and good 
Kyoto cuisine. Please come here. No.33, Izutsuya Noryo Yuka is one of the most attractive spots 
in summer in Kyoto. There are many restaurants which have Noryo Yuka seat. You can enjoy 
food with good night View. And among them my recommendation is Izutsuya. Izutsuya is located 
in Gion area. It takes for 5 to 6 minutes from Kawaramachi station. Izutsuya is well known for 
sukiyaki. Sukiyaki is one of the most well-known Japanese Cuisines and at this restaurant the staff 
cook in front of us. You can enjoy good smell and good view. Of course you can enjoy freshly cooked 
sukiyaki The Taste is soy sauce based and a little salty and sweet. We dip the vegetables 
and meat into raw eggs. It’s very tasty! Noryo yuka is seasonal event until October, 
but of course except for Noryo Yuka season you can enjoy sukiyaki inside. The price is about 
¥10,000, $70. It’s a little costly but I think it’s worth trying it!
No.34 Fresco Kyoto supermarket named Fresco 
has unique, attractive items. Some items are sold exclusively here. There 
are about 70 stores in Kyoto. You can enjoy local mood very easily here. My recommendation is 
chirimen sansho. Chirimen Sansho is a traditional Japanese condiment that beautifully combines 
the delicate flavors of dried baby sardines. Chirimen jako and the aromatic spiciness of 
Japanese peppercorns, sansho. Traditionally, chirimen sansho is enjoyed over a bowl of steamed 
white rice, allowing the flavors to melt together. It also serves as a flavorful filling for onigiri 
rice balls and can be paired with tofu or used as a topping for salad. It’s very delicious, so I 
want you to try it. Anyway, you can enjoy Kyoto local items shopping here.
No.35, Machiya Starbucks. This building looks like Japanese old house, but

No. 36, Nashinoki Cafe Nashinoki Cafe is small Cafe but it’s very 
attractive. It’s in the Nashinoki Shrine and then you can find out here. It’s hidden gyms 
I think. It takes for 20 minutes from Kyoto station by bus. This Cafe is well known for good 
coffee made by good quality water. This Shrine has welling of water and it has good quality. 
Actually this welling of water is one of the three famous water in Kyoto. And then you can 
enjoy tatami seats with good Garden. This Cafe is like old Japanese grandmother house so you 
can enjoy Japanese old mood! Coffee is deep taste and it’s not crowded space. The price is 
about ¥500, $3. Actually it’s small Cafe so it’s hidden gems. You can take a break with Kyoto 
old mood, so it’s very recommended I think! No.37, Soba Gontaro
Gontaro Soba is a renowned soba restaurant in Kyoto. There’re some Gontaro Soba restaurants 
and main branch is my recommendation because of good access. At the heart of Gontaro soba cuisine 
lies its exceptional dashi, a fundamental element in Japanese cooking. The resulting dashi is 
a clear golden broth that serves as a perfect base for their soba dishes. It’s absolutely 
different from other stores dashi and soba. The cost is ¥1,000-2,000, USD7-14. I want you to 
try high quality and reasonable soba experience. No.38, Sugari
At first, the appearance of Sugari is here. It’s like Japanese old house and through 
inside you can encounter Japanese small garden. So before having ramen, you can enjoy Japanese 
good mood. You can enjoy even while waiting. Of course, ramen is very good. It’s fresh based 
soup and creamy and sick. My recommendation is beef intestine ramen. It’s very well known. So 
please try it. And Sugari is located central Kyoto area. You can take 10 minutes from Kyoto 
station. I want you to come here to have good ramen with Japanese good mood!
No.39, Ishigama Ishigama is located in Gion, central Kyoto area. 
It takes 20 to 30 minutes from Kyoto station. The appearance is here. Ishigama is loved by many 
locals. I recommend you to have lunch here because simply we can have affordable good mood and 
delicious Kyoto lunch. This restaurant is adjacent to river. So you can enjoy food with good view. 
This is lunch plate. You can enjoy Kyoto lunch like tempura, white miso soup, etc. Tempura dipped 
with this dashi soup is marvelous. I want you to try it. The price range is about ¥1,000-2,000, 
about USD7-15. Anyway, easy access, good mood, and food. So, highly recommended!
No.40, Daimaru Kyoto Daimaru Kyoto is a premier department store 
located in the heart of Kyoto. Offering a brand of traditional Japanese craftsmanship and 
contemporary luxury, it takes for 10 minutes from Kyoto station by Metro. Daimaru Kyoto features a

and children can enjoy here. So for parents, it’s also a good place to take rest. Anyway, all
