中国のBYDメガファクトリーを訪問しました – テスラは心配すべきです!
Today we are getting exclusive access into
one of China’s and one of the world’s most advanced factories. We’re at the BYD
factory here in Shenzhen. Hi guys, welcome back. We’re on tour with Dridgers. If you’re
new here, we’re a full-time travel couple from the UK. We are currently in Shanwei near Shenzhen in
China and we’re here for a very special reason. We are in the BYD factory. We are the very first
influencers to ever get inside a BYD factory. We are honestly we are super super excited and guess
what they produce a EV car every 58 seconds. It is world class technology and we are going to see
it with our own eyes and we’re going to take you along with us. We got a blue vest. It’s actually a
really nice color. You look the color better than the orange or yellow you normally get. Yeah. It’s
a little bit different to buildings like is it? I’m so excited. So facial recognition when they
go in Oh. Not for us. We’re in the assembly. Um we’re just waiting for the staff. They just gone
out for lunch. We uh we did go on the canteen, but we’re a little bit too late. We’re going to
get a bit of lunch. This whole site is 4.1 million square ft. It’s huge. They have buses going
around like buses to get you to the canteen and back. When this gets up and running, all this all
this operation will be kicking off. So this actual factory is like 90% automated. So, a lot of the
human work is with pressing buttons. Basically, the robots are the first to go to work. Here we
go. So, here we got all the parts being brought to robots. So, we got robots bringing robots parts.
How many was this? And they’re like lined up in a queue ready to be assembly by humans, but this
actually is majority like done by robots. I think it’s about 80% 80% robots. Robots. So, only like
the fiddly little parts would be done by humans. So these are probably fine tuning, but wo got like
a shell of a car here. It’s got barely anything in it. So I think it takes about an hour to make a
car um from start to finish fully, but a car rolls off the production line every 58 seconds. So this
is quite it’s crazy. Absolutely crazy. So these ones here, they’re they’re the shells. They’re
obviously going in to get fit with their batteries and everything. Then no, this is just the assembly
part. So there’s no batteries. factory. Yeah. So the building we’re in, as we said, this whole
area, the BYD factory is like a size of a mini town. So we’re just in the assembly part. So it
will be another part where like batteries and all that go in. So like Reanne said, you have got like 80%
robots and then you got humans doing other bits like um more fiddly bits. Humans right here doing
um a lot of doing bit drilling, fixing fixtures on. As you notice, it’s continuously moving like
every part. So they’re on here doing their work as it goes along with the tray with the work station.
It’s continually like they’re just not stood still and then once that part’s gone, it’ll go next
to another station. So that’s why they move so quick. Yeah. So it’s like a conveyor belt. It’s
constantly moving. It’s quite mad. It’s mad to see. You didn’t if you make a mistake, it’s gone.
It’s gone. It’s like down there and then the next guys got to deal with it. So here’s the lights
here ready to go on. So we saw these coming down the road. They they get delivered by robots as
well. So they obviously get made in a different area and then they get transported to this section
for assembling a bit later on. All the wiring here again delivered straight into the factory ready
for assembling. So you think if you make this many cars at one time, everything’s got to be
perfect. So obviously turns up and then they’re they’re waiting for it ready and then they’re
ready to go get to work and then um yeah onto the next car and do it all again. I’d love to see um
the batteries put in cuz supposedly the batteries are really small and light and thin and I want to
see how much of the vehicle it takes up. I think on majority of them it’s on the bottom. Yeah, I’m
getting a EV expert. I’m getting EV expert at the moment. Yeah, like in so they’re so lightweight
they put them all on the bottom and their battery is actually produced by BYD unlike Tesla who um
use a BYD battery which most people don’t know but they do. So just this like aisle here we’re
walking down is just trim these two sides. There’s like so much more beyond this factory. So I want
to go and see some robot stuff. Hope we’re getting tooken there next. Already this welding section
seems huge. The actual So this is 118 square m. The actual welding section is nearly twice as big.
There’s no way that robot’s not going to put in. Yeah, that’s how accurate has it got. It’s got to
be so accurate to be able to put a windshield in a car. So, it’s all automated to put the sunroof in.
So, basically the robot brings it along, puts it to the level, and then when it goes into the car,
it goes up and then the humans just fix it. So, human, it’s sort of like a uh a Formula 1 pit stop
sort of situation. Get their drills ready and fix it into place. Traveling to China, stay connected
instantly. Last year, I landed in Beijing, totally unprepared, not knowing what to do. No
way to WhatsApp my family and zero access to Google Map. I spent a frantic 2 hours trying to
find my hotel the old-fashioned way. Let’s VPN is as simple as always connected. No complicated

down. With Let’sVPN, you’re always one tap away from the world. Always connected wherever you go.
Click the link in the description or scan the QR code on screen now. One they made earlier. Look
at this. Lovely. Jubbly. You do like um obviously when you seen it getting assembled, you forget
what a beautiful car is as well. Right. So this is this one right in front of me is the called
the Ya Wan. It’s their newest brand. This is a real luxury one. I think this is going to cost
you quite a lot of money. Maybe like $200,000. Real lot of money. Really fast, really slick.
It’s absolutely beautiful car. Look at that. I haven’t actually told you. We have got
um Zach with us. Zack and China. Hi, Zack again. Yeah, as I said, we we with Zack at the Canon
Fair. We we’ve kept in touch and we’re going again. We’re going again here in the BYD factory
and exclusive for you guys. And we also filmed at Iron with him. If you remember our iron the iron
factory, Zach was there filmed with us. Yeah. So, we are EV car. We are pros. This is a pro
gang. So, this is all that’s inside. Obviously, the battery and all the wires. It seems mad to
think a car look this this slick, this fast, this luxurious. And obviously, it’s an electric car, so
it hasn’t got an engine. So, all you’re looking at is, you know, you’re looking at a battery. It’s
got its own obviously they got um their own uh different brands that work under the uh BYD sort
of um bracket and this is the luxury luxury brand but all all the things you got light up light up
handles that that come out. It’s not actually like finished. Oh yeah. Yeah. It’s not red interior
seating. Yeah. Yeah. It’s not actually finished inside. I like the look of the smoothness and
sleekness of it. It’s a very beautiful car. I can see why it’s like a luxury. So BYD don’t actually
just make BYD. They’ve got I’m not sure. I think it may be three or four other brands. Yeah, that’s
what I just said. I just Yeah, I just said it. They branch out with other other brands as well,
which are they come under the bracket BYD. Yeah, if you look, they’re just still putting the trim
and stuff on here. So these ones, they they gone through the assembling. They’re literally putting
the final touches on them. This would be the the human side of it. So obviously you got the robots
doing all the heat bits and pieces doing all their stuff here. Robots bringing it around. Then over
here strictly humans just putting your trims on. You finish. So here we’ve got the robots that are
going to put the windscreen the front and back one. So back front and they’re going to do at the
same time. So we’ve just had a car done here and then it’ll move along and we’ll get a new one put
in. But there’s a robot doing something there. So each process, as I say, is constantly moving. And
look, this robot is prepared for the next vehicle to come along. You know what you you notice
though, Rian? Where are the humans? Look, where are the humans? There’s no humans. No one needs
to run this. I know. It’s mental. So, obviously, it’s all all programmed through AI, and it just
cracks on and does it meant an absolute madness. As you can see, there’s a lot of safety going
on here. We got safety lines we’re not allowed to cross. You got You’re not allowed in there
without helmet and proper equipment. You’ve got machines analyzed and everything. Don’t know what
the beeping’s all about. Oh, here we go. Well, the product line is now changing. So, that one
will come forward and now the robots will put the windows in. Here we go. Look how smooth it is. So,
it’s getting Oh, the edge like for the sticky bit maybe on. Yeah. Whoa. Oh, we got robots doing sunk
over here. Whoa. Here we go. [Music] I don’t know what that one’s doing over there. Here we go in.
Oh my god, look at the how smooth that was. Have you noticed how precise it is as well? Literally
look at that. Perfect. And then they’ll just go grab the next ones ready for next time. Oh my
god, that is mental. That was like literally done in seconds, which humans probably take 10 times
this long carrying it. Loads of people putting it, lifting up safety on it. Yeah, that’s mental
to hear. I think seal around the edge. I don’t really know much about cars. I think I think
they’re making it waterproof. Putting the seal on maybe. Ah, okay then. It’s beeping for the next
one to come along. Don’t know what this is doing. This is like shaking here. This bit is a bit busy
here. We’ve got like humans, robots, cars, humans, more humans. Look, robots. Robots in traffic
with humans. The robot was going and needed a part from it. Oh, we got like the interior parts.
Wow. I can’t believe how big this is. And this is only one building. I I was just saying to Rian, so
obviously BYD is Tesla’s biggest competitor. So, what are the what is the chances? I’m not going
to say Elon Musk is going to watch this video because he’s probably got better things
to do. The man’s an absolute billionaire, but he’s probably going to have someone from
Tesla is probably going to watch this just to see the competition. And I’ve got to tell you,
man, you got to keep you got to keep upping your game to to stay in the competition because this
is honestly I’m not like an expert on EV cars, but this is very very impressive so far. And
I’m sure there’s loads more to come as well, but they are the uh largest producer of EV
cars in the world. And so at the moment, they’re number one. So you can you can speak about
Tesla, but at the moment BYD are number one. Just look at how many cars you got going on at the
moment. Like they’re everywhere all around you. These seem to be after the majority of the stuff
assembled inside. Maybe I actually I actually don’t think I’ve ever been inside a building
this big. Yeah. But look, if you look down there, look how far it goes. I know. It’s massive. It’s
It’s literally like 10 football stadiums. That’s how big it is. So, here we’re at the chassis
session. I had no idea what that meant until Ben told me. It’s um What did you say it was?
The chassis is like this this main frame part. So what they’re doing the humans are putting
the other parts onto the chassis. Okay then. Yeah. That means nothing. Yeah. So here you go.
He’s fixing he’s fixing the um the the wheel arch and stuff. He’ll be Yeah. Just putting different
parts. So different sections will have different things happening. Yeah. So obviously once he’s
done his bit um the next one will do their bit. So, so it at the start it will enter the chassis
will enter this as a bare as a bare bone and exit it fully kitted up but not fully well fully k
the chassis will be fully kitted up and then I go to the next se section which I assume they’ll be
putting the plastic trim on and stuff. The funny thing is where I said to you like it’s constantly
moving. So when the staff are doing something like he’s under it or trying to talk something
he’s got to walk with it cuz it’s moving. So this top part’s moving, but the bottom part in.
So he needs to move with the vehicle at the top. Everywhere has got like you’ve got like walkways.
Obviously there’s things going on everywhere, but it’s very clean. Everything’s in within these
lines. So if you overstep the certain lines, the black and yellow ones, the black and yellow ones
are see these ones here where you’ve got moving parts. So if you overstep them, the alarms go off
and all the machines stop and everything. It’s an absolute nightmare. But um we haven’t done that,
by the way. We haven’t done that. But uh he did say to us, “Don’t do it because that will happen.”
This section is fully automated. Totally robots. You see, you don’t see any humans all the way
along this section. In terms of the automation, yeah, this is one of the most automated one.
How does How does this compare to like Tesla and that? They don’t know. They don’t know that.
They don’t know because Tesla don’t have don’t have a video like this. Never been inside
of Tesla before. So there’s no way I could know how automated they are, how advanced they
are. But you know, other Chinese car factories, they are very open to for visits like this. They
have nothing to hide. Yeah. Like I say, this is our third factory visit. That’s how open they are.
They have they they don’t have nothing to hide. Yeah. Yeah. But but one thing uh car car factories
in China are very open. But this BYD factory, this is very difficult, very exclusive tour
because even for us local media, we reporters, we rarely came came inside of one of these BYD
factories. Yeah, that’s what like obviously I’ve been going on about this to Zach for so long, I’ve
been annoying. I have actually been annoying him a little bit. But um it’s like he he said to me,
it’s there’s a very very low chance that you’re going to get in it and eventually it it come good.
No. Yes. Like two weeks ago when Ben asked me, “Hey, Zach, could you help set up a tour inside
one of the BYD factories?” I was like, “Man, you’re not the only one, man. Everyone wants
to do it.” I never went inside one of these factories before, but but I then think um maybe
we could give it a try. And it took me some real effort to convince those BYD guys to let us in.
And this what you’re going to see here today, you’re not going to see it anywhere else.
We are going to be the first in the world exclusive. Yeah, it’s crazy. It is crazy. So, the
real section is the most autonomous section where it’s completely run by robots. It’s like shot up
in its own little world. Um, no human contact. The robots having a little party in there every
now and then, which is quite mental. And then it comes along this bit. They’re actually starting to
look like cars though. The further you go along, the more they look like cars. And then it goes up
to another level, goes round. So I think it goes up, moves around, then comes down to the next
section. I think that’s how it moves around. I’m getting the hang of it how it works. Hey guys,
welcome to the okay line. It’s literally they call the okay line because everything is okay in this
section. This is final inspection to a testing stage in that. They’re looking at the coating. See
the pain? You see the pain? Yeah. So obviously a a factory this size. What about quality control? So
there’s got to be obviously stuff can slip through the cracks. How do they keep how do they keep on
top of quality control? I know I’m asking you like you know, but you speak Chinese. That’s what I’m
asking you. If I’m not I’m not an expert in in EV production, so uh Yeah. Yeah. But I’m thinking
I’m obviously thinking a factory this size, there’s got it’s got to be difficult to make sure
there’s no mistakes. Yes, exactly. So you’re going to like you’re going to have a lot of machines to
do the job to do the inspections. Yeah. Because you can’t make sure like all human workers they
can 100% be uh be perfect at what they do. So human Yeah. human error. You’re going to have a
lot of automation, a lot of machines to check if there’s any tiny little cracks anywhere in car.
So this is the end like quality control. Um and then they’ll go and park it up, I guess. um do
all analyze this dip and check it out. Yeah, we have we have actually just been told of all
the um cars they make and they make I mean I think it’s about 400,000 per year, they actually lose
maybe a couple of hundred because they do a lot so many vigorous tests that they do crashes and
all sorts of tests that they actually lose cars. are very hot on safety obviously. Every single
car is their main priority is safety obviously. They don’t want people getting injured. Zach
just went to us. You want to get in one of them cars? I was like, uh, yeah. A human has never
been inside these cars. You’re saying rubbish cuz the people that put it together went
in it. I mean, as a complete car, I mean, God. And someone bought in it. Yeah. Sure.
Yeah. I’m sure some staff’s been in it. Yeah, I’m sure. I’m sure too. Yeah. So, look at
all these cars that are done. Look at these. Unreal. So, we’re actually checking out the
luxury car. Look at that handle. Wow. So, Rian, have you ever been in a car which What is
that? Yeah. This comes up and inside you have a table like a plane. Like an airplane. Wa. So,
have you ever se Have you ever seen a car with a with a tray table? That’s mental. Yeah, I know.
Absolutely crazy. We got screens in front of us, one each. These little mirrors do my makeup when
I’m on the go. Wo! Sunroof. I do like this red interior. I’m not normally a red person, but Oh,
no. I’m liking it. Does it not go down? Is that up? I don’t know. Have we got What we got here?
Oh, cup holders. charging stations yet. Always think of charging stations in it. Fridge in there.
And then you got the big screens at the front. Zach, what’s the front like? Do you want to give
us a tour? Okay, we’re looking at the wheel here. This is U7 and it’s worth like $50,000. Is it Is
it really 50 grand? Is this fridge? $50,000 and about 35 350,000 yuan. Yeah. What’s this? Is it a
fridge? Yeah, we got a fridge, haven’t we? Yeah, it’s a fridge. Many fridges. Yeah. Oh, wow. Look
at the leather. This is very high quality leather. I do notice that um Chinese cars, they always
cater like to people’s convenience. So, if you’re sat back here, I’m assuming I’ll probably get a
massage. Would I? Probably probably a massage, TV, cold beer. What more would you want? How do
we get out? Yeah. Huh. Ben trying to suss out how to get out of the luxury cars. Is there a button?
Oh, there. There you go. The biggest problem with the cars is I never know how to get out. So,
we’re little This is it. Little button here. The majority of this shipping equipment they’ve
got here, like the forklifts and the things for transporting stuff, they’re actually made by BYD.
BYD make their own. So, it’s um a lot of a lot of stuff. with this massive mega factory. It’s all
made inhouse. There’s our little ride. Take us. They’re going to take us to the welding. So,
I just went on chat GTP and it told me that 100,000 about 100,000 people work at this plant.
So, obviously see all these accommodation. I don’t know how accurate that is. Yeah, I’ll go here.
Oh, straight off. Straight off. Didn’t give me a chance. Yeah, I don’t know how accurate that is,
but um yeah, so a lot basically a lot of people work here. So as well as this accommodation
here, you’ve also got these ones here. So yeah. So that 100,000 that is a possibility. We get a helmet. Two jackets. This time we get yellow. Now you know serious when you get a
helmet that it’s too big. Yeah, a little bit. It’s a little bit small obviously.
Mine’s quite big. Yeah. Obviously coming from there. You go. Safety first.
So, we’re here at the welding. It smells like welding. I imagine. Wo. We got some that going
on over there. So, this is the engine cabin here. But like I did say earlier, so this is this
actual zone is actually twice the size of the assembl mostly run by the robots. Most automated
place here. So actually less people work here, but it’s twice the size. It’s mental. But
there is actually 1,700 robots work here, man. So all the raw material gets lined up
and then it gets assembled there. Look at that. Sparks flying everywhere. It’s getting
welded there. So, it takes about 60 seconds for one robot to weld all the parts together.
So, they can make it in 60 seconds and then Oh, mate. Blowing my mind. So, I was just wondering
why they had a red room of pain. No, I’m joking. A red room. And we just found out it’s because
protect human eyes. So, you can kind of see in there that it’s a really bright light. Yeah. The
light’s different. Yeah. The light’s like really bright. Yeah. Because when a human welds, they
wear the mask, don’t they? With a black thing. So, these two parts are here have actually got humans
in it cuz it’s for the like little fiddly parts and they’ve got I don’t know if you can really
see them, but they’ve got like full masks on, full like blue outfit. Yeah, there’s there’s
places like obviously that are difficult for a robot to get to. You’ll never nowhere in the
world will there be 100% robots. There will always be jobs with humans and they are them sort of
jobs where these are. Yeah, it’s so quick. Look, look at them go. Look at that. And that would
have been one, two, three, four, five, six, maybe six staff on it. They’ve just got one
robot. Look at it go. Whoa. Mental. So that bit at the beginning had humans on it. And then so it
starts robots go down there to the humans to get to the like fiddly little parts and all that.
To be honest, we haven’t seen a lot of people. There’s like every now and then there’s like a
couple of people going along, but other than that, the people well the robots are doing all the
work. So the car comes to precisions with the robots. Here they go. And they all crack on. So
there’s about six robots working on there. Whoa. Mental. I can’t believe we’re in here. That’s m
That’s so crazy. Couldn’t I was talking to Zach a minute ago about when we went to the iron factory.
And when we did go to the Iron Fry, we did see some great stuff and it was really good, but we
didn’t get as close as what we are now. Obviously, it was really hard getting into this factory, like
nearly impossible. But we did manage to do it. But once you’re in there, we um we we’ve had some
really up close access and it’s been great. Really has been been a real eye opener as well into uh
the production of EV cars and like what goes into them. Obviously a big global brand like BYD.
I I expected something to be amazing. But man, it’s blowing my mind. It’s really unbelievable. So
these machines here, they do all like the uh laser welding and so all like deep precision and stuff.
So big though. didn’t don’t actually realize how big it could possibly be. I obviously knew it
was big, but man, just going on forever. So, here we’ve got a little bit closer up
and you can feel the they’ve obviously got air con in there where there’s people.
Yeah, this is one of the parts. Obviously, it goes all through the robot sections and then
you do get these little I call them where the human sections. Yeah, there literally only a
few literally like three or four humans. Not many humans at all. Yeah. Just check out
Reanne’s hat. Watch. Come on, Ben. Safety. You’re drunk. She’s broke the hat. You’re broken.
You owe you, Reanne. You owe BYD a hat. Like I said before, from here after it’s welded, it will
go to coating. We won’t be allowed in coating cuz obviously uh when we done the factory in
Chongqing, they wouldn’t let us in coating because obviously there’s lots of chemicals and
it’s just too dangerous for us to go in there. It’s the same here. Um and then from there, we
go to assembling and then we’re complete. So, we got lots of humans in this section. They’re
doing um a lot of the uh drill stuff, bolting, bolt, doing bolts and stuff. So, like the assembly
line is the same thing. It continuously moves. So, these sections, they move all along. These
people won’t move. They’ll be drilling, drilling, drilling. The next one will
come along and then they just carry on, carry on, carry on, carry on. Yeah. Constantly
moving. Like I say, you can’t afford to make a mistake cuz if you make a mistake, the whole
production stops. So, you don’t want to be the bad one that makes the mistake. No one makes
a mistake. Yeah, it’s mad. And to be honest, even I’m not saying that the robots will
never make a mistake because it might happen, but they can’t afford to make a mistake either.
Right guys, back in the room. Honestly, today has been absolutely unbelievable. BYD, what they’re
doing is totally totally changing everything. It that that factory is so futuristic. It is blowing
my mind honestly. If you want to see more from us and we’re g we’re going to try and do so many more
factories, so many more things to do with cars. We’ve got some more Chinese EV car stuff coming
up. Lots of stuff about travel. We’re actually visiting other countries as well. And also
we’re doing more of BYD. So subscribe.
We go behind the scenes at China’s cutting-edge BYD Mega Factory in this exclusive inside look at EV production facility. Where AI-powered robots work 24/7 to build the next generation of electric vehicles.

Great video—thanks for shedding light on how modern Chinese factories actually operate. I’m sure that over 95% of people in the West still imagine these products are made with child labour or slaves from Uyghurs, stuck with outdated views from the 1980s. It’s important to update these misconceptions and show how things have changed.
That factory needs a SOLAR ROOF.
Only TESLA Germany uses a BYD battery on one version of the MODEL Y.
BYD make both pure EVs and Hybrids.
Thank you for sharing the BYD factory, There are ten+ BYD factories like this in China~
You guys are so lucky to go inside the byd factory!
Great video, Ben!
Robots have been building cars for decades all over the world.
Chinese cars assembled by japanese robots?
I’m really pleased for you guys to get such a wonderful opportunity, BUT come on the factual information was a little lacking and unprepared- many might call you White Monkey but I think you generally just got caught up in all of the excitement
出息了呀,竟然参观了BYD工厂
MOST PEOPLE IN THE WEST WILL CALL THIS SLAVE LABOR.
West: "Chinese companies use SLAVE LABOUR." Yes, as you can see the situation is so bad that those slaves have become metal. 😂
It is a rare opportunity to be invited to see a large factory in operation.
You must have earned the Company’s trust of fair reporting n comments in ur videos on your travels in China.
4:02 lol Freudian slip
That factory is absolutely gigantic and automated. When people in the West view it they won't accuse China of "forced labour". Instead, they would probably say there is overcapacity.
Cool cars but boring video i thought it would be something much bigger than this the way you were bigging this up

There are people still believe Chinese EVs are cheap because of quality and cheaper labour – they don't know or don't accept the fact that the good value EVs are due to the most efficient supply chain, their highly efficient manufacturing : ) Thanks for sharing
No matter what you guys do or try to show, there'll always people saying you are paid by the CCP.
Bravo to Chinese technology & manufacturers for unbelievable advances in building cars but until they’re proven over the years I still love my touch older vehicles ❤
Thank you so much for sharing, great video
Fun fact: BYD even have their own fleet of container ships to export to other parts of the world.
