【茨木_水戸】定番観光地をめぐる水戸・日帰り旅
Today I’m in Mito City, Ibaraki Prefecture. I’m going on a day trip to Mito City, the city loved by Mito Komon-sama. Kairakuen is known as one of Japan’s most famous gardens and is associated with the Tokugawa clan. There are about 3,000 plum trees planted in the garden, and it is famous for its plum festival, which is held every year from mid-February to late March. By the way, Kairakuen is a garden designed to enjoy the world of “yin” and “yang. ” Going through the wooden gate from the front gate, you will find a quiet and calm “world of yin” with a bamboo forest, a large cedar forest, and thick Japanese bamboo . Beyond that is Kobuntei, a villa with a great view and an open space where the “world of yang” appears. It was the villa of Tokugawa Nariaki, the 9th lord of the Mito domain, and it was also a place to enjoy tea with vassals, writers, and people from the domain. It feels like the height of luxury to be able to enjoy tea here. I’ll also stop by the shrine adjacent to Kairakuen. It is a shrine dedicated to Mito Komon, Tokugawa Mitsukuni, and the 9th lord, Nariaki. I came to “Kodokan” where the negative ions of the shrine soothe my tired heart. It was a domain school founded by Tokugawa Nariaki to cultivate talented people. Here, education in a wide range of fields such as academics, martial arts, medicine, pharmacy, and astronomy was provided. Since I was there, I also stopped by “Mito Castle Otemon Gate”. Mito Castle used to be here. It is said to be one of the largest earthen castles in Japan without stone walls. Currently, six schools are built in the moat. It’s cool that there are schools in the historical ruins. By the way, there was also a Mito Castle turret (reconstruction). This time, it was a day trip to touch the history of Mito. By the way, Mito’s standard tourist spots are small enough to be visited in one day starting from the station. There is also a Tokugawa Museum in the city, so it may be a fun spot for history lovers. 徳川家とゆかりの深い街ですが、意外と観光客も少なく
のんびり観光ができる穴場スポットでした。
