【女ひとり】愛知③幸田町・蒲郡市・西尾市 全54市町村 名物・名所巡りの旅 Aichi Prefecture Travel

I’m traveling through all 54 cities and towns in Aichi Prefecture, visiting three places at a time to explore their specialties and landmarks. I’ve marked the places I’ve already visited in red. As a result of the last roulette spin, the third trip is to “Kōta Town, Gamagōri City, and Nishio City.” It’s my first time in the Mikawa region! I hope you enjoy watching. I started off in Kōta Town. It’s about an hour from Nagoya. I’ve come into the mountains. Parking area “Fudōgaike Park” is located in the eastern part of Kōta Town. “Fudōgaike Pond” is surrounded by mountains. It looks like there’s a waterfall further in, so I’ll go check it out. Water from the waterfall flows alongside the trail. I found a scary warning sign. The trail is surrounded by nature and easy to walk on. About 8 minutes in, there’s a stone marker at the entrance to Fudō Falls with a nice atmosphere. Since it’s early morning, the air feels really crisp. About a 5-minute walk from there. Fudō Falls is a 15-meter waterfall fed by a clear stream from Mt. Tōmine. The waterfall is relatively narrow. Only the sound of the water echoes around. The trees grow perfectly straight here. I found this on my way back… yikes. Better stay alert! I feel refreshed by the negative ions. I’m driving along Route 23. “Michi-no-Eki Fudegaki no Sato Kōta” (Roadside Station). They sell products made with Kōta’s specialty “fudegaki” persimmons. Sherbet Pudding “Kōta Fire Department Curry,” a meal originally served to the local firefighters. They also sell vegetables and rice harvested in Kōta. Gamagōri’s specialty Uzumaki Bread ¥264 and Kōta’s Fudegaki Pudding ¥230. It feels nice and packed Fudegaki jelly and pudding combo. You get to enjoy both jelly and pudding—great value! The jelly has a natural sweetness from the fudegaki. It’s pretty light and refreshing. Now for the pudding part. It seems the pudding itself doesn’t contain persimmon. I’d love to try a real fudegaki fruit someday. Next, I’m heading to Gamagōri City. I’ve arrived in Gamagōri. This time, I’m heading toward the sea. Takeshima, the symbol of Gamagōri. The island is connected to the mainland by a 387-meter bridge. It’s a spiritual power spot floating in Mikawa Bay. Crossing Takeshima Bridge to the island. The water is super clear. Apparently, you can sometimes see stingrays here (according to another tourist I passed). You can walk all the way around the island (same tourist told me this too lol). There’s a shrine in the center of the island, so a torii gate marks the entrance. I’ve arrived on the island. First, I’ll head to the shrine at the center. The stairs were pretty steep. I climbed the stairs for about five minutes. Yaotomi Shrine is known for bringing luck, safe childbirth, and romantic connections. Finished my prayers… I received a “Fukutanesen” (Good Fortune Coin) for 100 yen. Fukutanesen is a lucky 5-yen coin blessed at the shrine. People put it in their wallets or use it in business to attract good fortune. I’m going to keep it in my wallet. There are five shrines on the island. They say visiting all five brings great happiness. The path ahead is blocked by fallen branches. The view is absolutely beautiful. Be careful not to fall off the cliffs while admiring the scenery. Now I’m on the back side of the island. It feels like I’m floating above the sea. I’ll walk the outer path back to the bridge. I’ve returned to the bridge. Leaving Takeshima now. There were a lot of hawks or kites flying around, so I went under a roof. I finally got to try Gamagōri’s soul food: Uzumaki Bread. I bought it at Fudegaki no Sato for ¥264 (20% off). The surface is coated with coarse sugar. People usually tear it from the ends to eat. It’s chewy, and the generous sugar makes it delicious. It tasted just as good as I expected. I’m hooked on Uzumaki Bread now. There are very retro-style buildings on both sides. Laguna Ten Bosch Very close to Laguna. A beloved local restaurant: “Sankai Otsuka Branch.” The palm trees give it a nice vibe. This restaurant has been around since the Showa era. The lunch menu offers a wide variety. Sankai Set Meal – 1,210 yen A colorful assortment of side dishes Let’s eat! Starting with miso soup that has tofu and wakame seaweed. It’s hot and delicious. With so many dishes, I don’t know where to start… I ended up choosing the egg first. What would you pick first? Tuna The main dish is a large fried shrimp. I’m happy it comes with tartar sauce. It’s firm and very tasty. There’s also white fish. This set meal is super filling. Simmered daikon radish—very generous in size. The balance of sashimi, fried, and simmered dishes is excellent. The restaurant and seating are spacious and calming. The retro Showa vibe made it even better. Now heading to Nishio City. I’ve entered Nishio City. Nishio is one of Japan’s top producers of matcha. A short drive reveals vast matcha fields. Destination “Inariyama Tea Garden Park” is a hilltop park with a panoramic view of tea fields. Tea fields stretch out as far as the eye can see. They harvest the young leaves around May to June (soon!). Feels like I can smell the matcha aroma (even though I can’t). The vibrant green matcha fields were peaceful and soothing. Now I’m craving a matcha dessert, haha. Along Route 23 is “Michi-no-Eki Nishio Okano-yama.” They sell local specialties and products here. I like garlic so I’m curious Also, Kazuo Nishio (aka Tomochika) supports “Nishio Pizza” because of his Nishio connection. I’ve arrived at the shop. “Inariyama Mont Blanc” made with Nishio matcha – 700 yen. The matcha paste is just 1mm thin. Let’s dig in. Berry sauce, whipped cream, flakes, and chiffon cake. It’s packed with rich matcha paste. The flakes underneath are crispy and tasty. The berry sauce adds a nice contrast. The thin paste gives it a delicate look—beautiful to the eyes too. It was a generous portion and absolutely delicious. Not too sweet, so I finished it in no time. Mission accomplished for this trip, too! Next destination is… Next time, I’ll visit “Takahama City, Hekinan City, and Anjō City”! How did you like this trip? Thank you for watching until the end! Please don’t forget to subscribe!
