A trip around Japan in small chunks on a folding bike. The start is from Yuzaka Onsenkyo in Hiroshima Prefecture Kamogawaso is a nice hot spring inn My bike is Caracle-S Today, I’m heading to Hiroshima It’s about 45km from here to Hiroshima I am going to take it easy again today It’s a peaceful place, but… the roads are narrow and there are a lot of trucks, so it’s quite dangerous I think these roads are peaceful and nice It gradually becoming more urban It is almost lunchtime Thus is a delicious-looking hamburger shop! As expected, it’s super delicious! The good thing about a bicycle trip is that you can burn off all the calories you take in. I crossed a mountain pass that went up about 250m It’s good exercise after a meal I entered the city of Hiroshima That’s Hiroshima Mazda Stadium! I was able to buy tickets for tonight’s game! Heading to Peace Park This is the site of the old Hiroshima Municipal Baseball Stadium, now Hiroshima Gate Park Atomic Bomb Dome The bomb exploded almost directly above here , and the blast hit from above, so the original shape remained the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum This is my first visit since the 2019 renovation I was reminded of the inhumanity of nuclear weapons I was moved to tears by the story of a boy who was burned by the atomic bomb, who said, “I feel sorry for my mother, that I got so burned.” The foreigner next to me was also crying I am back at Mazda Stadium I was excited I love this atmosphere Hiroshima Carp vs Chunichi Dragons I enjoyed baseball game Dragons win 2-4 I stayed at Kaikatsu Club near the entertainment district I checked in a private room with a lock Then went to Okonomimura on foot. The taste is authentic! The best! Back at Kaikatsu Club, I read a lot of manga distance traveled this day was 65km, and the elevation gained was 451mToday I’m heading to Miyajima! The weather is great! It’s about 18km from Hiroshima city to Miyajima.Hiroshima Electric Railway Miyajima Line I have been to Hiroshima several times, but this is my first time going to Miyajima, so I’m looking forward to it. After passing the Miyajima Ferry Terminal, go about 200m and you will find a bicycle parking lot. I park my bike there and cross over to Miyajima. Miyashima Ferry Terminal The ferry costs 200 yen one way and takes about 10 minutes. As you would expect during Golden Week, it was crowded. I immediately went to Itsukushima Shrine, World Heritage Site. Itsukushima Shrine Founded in 593, the first year of the reign of Empress Suiko. 1168, Taira no Kiyomori constructed the shrine building, which gave it its current appearance. At low tide you can walk to the torii gate. For lunch, I had Jajamen noodles. Toyokuni Shrine (Senjokaku) Founded in 1587 by Toyotomi Hideyoshi I had intended to continue my journey, but it was the Golden Week weekend, Unable to find a hotel at all , I considered packing my bike and going to the town where there was a hotel by train, but it seemed like I would have to go quite far , so I gave up and decided to call it a day. However, I had enjoyed myself for 4 days so it was okay, so I packed my bike and headed back from Miyajimaguchi Station. The distance traveled that day was about 20km. This journey will continue.
