【京都・南禅寺】豪華湯豆腐・湯葉しゃぶしゃぶを堪能!日本有数のパワースポットである南禅寺の三門や水路閣、庭園を巡ります。
Today we’re going to explore Nanzen-ji Temple in Kyoto. First, we’ll have lunch. For lunch, we chose tofu cuisine at the restaurant “Yachiyo.” The prices are quite high. The restaurant opens at 11 a.m. Here’s a look inside the restaurant. You can enjoy the garden view while dining. Yudofu Set Meal Ume (plum) – 3,500 yen Yuba Shabu-shabu Set Meal Yuba Shabu-shabu Set Meal – 4,300 yen Summer-only chilled Oboro Tofu We ordered the Yuba Shabu-shabu set. It comes with many items and looks very delicious. We dip the yuba into hot broth. Then we eat it with sesame sauce. It’s really delicious! ♪ This is yuba rice. Yuba and condiments are placed on top of the rice. Yudofu Set Meal – Ume Thank you for the meal. Now let’s head to Nanzen-ji Temple. The yuba was really delicious. Exit the restaurant, turn right, and walk straight. Nanzen-ji is about a 5-minute walk away. Let’s get going. There are many souvenir shops and tofu restaurants nearby. Japanese summers are very hot. You can hear the sound of cicadas. We can now see the entrance to Nanzen-ji Temple. Nearby parking costs 400 yen per 15 minutes during the day. Nanzen-ji is considered the most prestigious Zen temple. First, we’ll head to the Sanmon Gate. The gate is 22 meters tall and is one of the three great gates of Japan. Many tourists are taking photos. It’s very impressive when viewed from the front. The building ahead is the Hōdō Hall, and behind it lies the Hōjō, which is designated a National Treasure. We offer incense and light it. A large dragon painting is carved into the upper interior. Next, we head to the Suirokaku Aqueduct. This location has been used in TV dramas and anime. You can get close and touch the aqueduct. It’s a great spot for commemorative photos. Above the water gate is the Nanzen-in Temple. This is the birthplace of Nanzen-ji. Admission is 400 yen for adults. Currently, the roof is being replaced, so we couldn’t go inside. Next, we’ll visit Tenju-an Temple. Admission is 500 yen for adults. Tenju-an is the most historically significant sub-temple in the complex. The main hall currently at Tenju-an is a reconstruction. You can sit and rest on the veranda. This is called a Karesansui (dry landscape) garden. It’s a Japanese garden style that uses rocks, sand, and plants without water. Beautifully maintained stone paths. Ahead is a pond-strolling garden. The water is crystal clear. We can see many water lily leaves. Water lilies are blooming. You can walk around the pond while enjoying the view. There was another building in the back, but it seems we can’t enter it. The soothing sound of water and lush moss are beautiful. We saw a golden koi carp. That concludes our trip.
