地元民も通う!天文館グルメ5選【鹿児島ひとり旅】(日本語字幕あり)

Living in Osaka, I occasionally miss delicious seafood. “I wanna eat something tasty and see Sakurajima in person”
so I went to Kagoshima. Well, I never got to see Mt. Sakurajima… Anyway, I ate various foods
with the spirit of “food over flowers” This is my first izakaya in Tenmonkan,
“otoshi”(appetizer) was surprisingly a personal-sized shichirin (charcoal grill). I grilled dried firefly squidand young corn
from Kagoshima by myself. This restaurant advertises local cuisine
so I could get Kibinago and Satsuma-age. I didn’t know satsuma-age could be so fluffy. I visited to a popular local spot
that a local person recommended. Not only families but also solo diners like me were there. Everything was delicious.
And the bonito tataki was a completely different from what I ever had. No wonder it was packed with customers even after 9 p.m. I wish it ‘s near my home. Tenmonkan is the largest downtown area in Kagoshima.
Packed with such delicious restaurants. Tenmonkan Mujyaki is also here, famous for Shirokuma shaved ice.
(Fans of the show “How Do You Like Wednesday?” will recognize) There are also department stores and cafes,
making this area indispensable to the locals. Trams and buses run continuously through this area. providing good access to Kagoshima Chuo Station
and the Sakurajima Ferry Terminal. nationwide IC cards such as SUICA cannot be used
on trams and buses. Credit card contactless payment is recommended. The seafood is delicious. So the sushi should be too. I was blown away by the recommended Broken-neck Mackerel
at this 70-year-old sushi restaurant. Despite not liking mackerel sushi,
this made me want to eat it again. I ate mainly local fish such as kibinago and bonito,
all this for just 2,750 yen. It’s amazing. So conveyor belt sushi should be delicious too. This restaurant in a shopping center next to Kagoshima Chuo Station.
Recommended by locals. Each sushi has such freshness and firmness,
it’s hard to believe it’s conveyor belt sushi quality. This restaurant impressed me
“This must be a standard taste for people in Kagoshima,” One thing not to forget in Kagoshima’s seafood bounty is eel. It is not well known
that Kagoshima is the top producer of farmed eels in Japan. I didn’t know that either. This restaurant, recommended by locals,
already had a line forming by 11 AM. The grilled eel (unaju) in a separate tiered box from the rice
is crispy outside but fluffy inside. I ate it with surprise. The seasoning and texture of the eel were very satisfying. Many elderly people were enjoying themselves alone,
and I can see why here is popular among locals. Why I came to Kagoshima is delicious food
and to visit the Chiran Peace Museum. During the Pacific War,
1,036 Army Tokkō(Kamikaze) pilots died in the aerial suicide attacks over Okinawa. About 439, approximately 40%, of them took off from the Chiran Tokkō Base.
The Peace Museum is located that place The average age of the Tokkō pilots was 21.6 years old. The youngest was 17 years old.
(current high school students) At this Museum, along with their portraits,
there are exhibited a vast number of letters,
final notes that they sent to their families and loved ones. “Tokkō bereaved family” Photography and video recording inside the museum are prohibited. Taking photos is allowed only in the lobby
and the Zero Fighter exhibition room. The Museum with over 100 cherry blossom trees has
a quiet and peaceful atmosphere. It was like the museum asked me “What is peace?”
Very important day for me. By the way, Chiran is famous for tea. I had my lunch at a restaurant near the Museum
and the green tea was very beautiful. What I thought in Kagoshima for the first time is
“There are still so many things to see.” Like Sakurajima I haven’t seen,
the hot springs and sake of Kirishima, and the sand baths of Ibusuki. Next time, I’d like to explore beyond Kagoshima City. It was a good trip.
