If you prefer Japanese, please press CC to turn off subtitles. Good morning! Japan is finally entering midsummer. i’m going to Wakayama, Kushimoto! took a bus (¥2,900) from Rinku Town Station, which is close to Kansai Airport, to Kii-Tanabe Station cheap backpack ($3) i bought yesterday just for this trip I chose the mountain side seat on the bus, cause i will see the ocean later first I was thinking of going cheaply by taking a local train instead of an express, but I couldn’t get up early in the morning (lol) so i booked this bus ticket online this morning 3 hours bus ride w/ listening music 🎶 passing through the famous mandarin orange fields 🍊 this weather..! perfect Wakayama is also famous for its umeboshi (pickled plums). are those also drying plums? My backpack was torn 😂 24 hours has not passed yet since i bought this bag arrived at JR Kii-Tanabe Station There is a statue of Benkei in front of the station. Apparently he’s from Tanabe City They didn’t sell backpacks here 😂 There were a lot of Westerners at the station. They were probably going to the Kumano Kodo trail Wakayama is also famous for its pandas The train ride takes about an hour This route lets you enjoy both the mountains and the sea. It soothes my eyes. Passing through Susami Passing through Esumi A place with childhood memories. I plan to come here again next time. There was a cafe and a movie theater I wanted to go to, but there were very few trains so I couldn’t get off the train this time. I’d like to visit the cafe again next time. Arrived at Kushimoto, the southernmost town on Honshu! 0:03:11.062,0:03:14.496
This town has had a long and friendly relationship with Turkey since the sinking of the Ertugrul in 1890. I’m hungry, so I’ll go to a restaurant that serves bonito chazuke first! 🐟 It seems to be a famous restaurant around here, so I was looking forward to it🐟🍚 It was closed😭 Instead, I ate conveyor belt sushi🍣 It was after 3pm, so I was the only customer
and there was no sushi being conveyed It was about 1000 yen for 5 plates! Maybe I came at a bad time and
I was expecting too much fresh food because it was close to the sea The food was neither good nor bad Maybe it was because it was a weekday, but the old-style cafe I wanted to go to was closed
and there was no place to cool off I was debating whether to buy a replacement backpack (¥7000) at Oakwa, but in the end I didn’t buy one
and just got dinner! Retro melon bread from “Bongkusumoto” They have fish caught at Kushimoto Port the main purpose of this trip is ‘the onsen inn’ ,so i dont want to go out after check-in and there aren’t many places to eat dinner around the inn
so for dinner tonight I’ll have some sashimi I bought at Oakwa I spent two hours around the area
and finally it was time for the bus to depart We took the community bus (¥200🚌) to Hashiguiiwa. It was a magical moment. Hashiguiiwa is a designated national natural monument. There is also a legend that a long time ago, Kobo Daishi and Amanojaku made a bet that they could build a bridge in one night, and
they built this rock. In the evening, the tide goes out, so you can walk close to the rock. There are over 40 large and small rock pillars lined up in the sea, and they are said to have been named Hashiguiiwa because they resemble bridge piles. Tonight’s accommodation is right behind that big rock. We have to go through this dangerous road. It’s a bit reassuring to know that there is a large hotel nearby. I don’t think this road is something you can walk on😂
(The staff at the accommodation also recommended that we come by car or taxi.) It’s really scary to go through this curve on foot!! Please be careful. It says ‘Accidents occur frequently here’ There was a small shrine next to the inn, so I prayed for a safe journey. Arrived at today’s inn, a “private hot spring with a spectacular view”! This is a private hot spring from 10:00 to 17:00, and the inn is open from 18:00 to 9:00 the next morning. It’s cheap at just under 7,000 yen a night!! Pacific Ocean! I am overwhelmed by this view The whole building is reserved for me, so I am the only one here today This was originally a small hot spring popular with locals, but due to a decrease in users, it was closed down and even decided to be demolished A local company took over the operation, and it seems to have been renovated last year in 2023 Check-in is self-service, and I was given the PIN code by email in advance It’s still new, so it smells nice of new wood. Rooms for up to 3 people – spacious enough for one person. There’s a tatami bed. This is the bathroom. There’s a pot and toothbrush. Hair dryer It’s getting fun I’ll put the sashimi in the fridge first There’s water too If you open this door you’ll see the open-air bath!! Let’s open the curtains It’s a different view of the ocean from above! Since we only have a limited amount of time to stay, we have to enjoy the bath the most!! 🛀 I’m so excited… This is amazing! There is a legend that Kobo Daishi once told villagers suffering from an incurable disease about this bath and saved them. It’s been renovated recently, so it’s clean. This is the shower. The water pressure was a little weak Be sure to lock the door before enjoying the bath How wonderful that you can enjoy the hot springs just one step from your room Crab Too wonderful There are chairs so you can cool down after getting hot in the bath by reading a book If I stay in the hot water for too long, I get hot,
so I keep going in and out of the cool room… I’m getting hungry, so it’s time to eat There’s no TV in the room, so I’ll watch Netflix on my computer

We enjoyed the hot springs even after it got dark I’m really bad at setting up my futon😂 Good night~⭐️ I was planning to get up while it was still dark, but it was already light out! I was planning to get up at 4 but I overslept A grasshopper is drowning… The early morning sky is like cotton candy… The hot springs while watching the early morning sea and sky are also the best. The sound of the waves is soothing Rice balls I bought yesterday🍙 Half-price yogurt😂 Dorayaki🐼 Now that I’m here, I’ll take a look at Hashiguiiwa in the morning, which is just a 5-minute walk away Check-out time is 9am so I’ll enjoy the little time I have left This tropical-feeling entrance is also great! There is a grass arch here that looks like Totoro might pass through Only mini Totoro can pass through this I was curious to see what was ahead, but I gave up because it might be dangerous Crab Just passing through this path is a life-threatening experience I’ve been to Hashiguiiwa a few times, but this is my first time seeing it in the morning, so I’m looking forward to seeing it. If you only want to use the hot springs, you can register at this shop right in front of Hashiguiiwa. It was low tide in the evening, so there was no water, so you could get close to the rocks, but I was surprised that in the morning, it was high tide and there was nowhere to walk. The rocks look like they’re floating in the sea, which is fantastical. I found a small shrine. There are spider webs. It seems like a place where no one comes. I’m nervous. There was a small shrine. I was able to see Hashikuiiwa from a different angle. I’m glad I climbed it. There’s a really big rock here too! It was a light walk, but I was soaked in sweat, so I went back into the hot springs It was so hot 😅💦
Next time, it might be even more comfortable if it’s cold But the sea sparkles in summer…✨ This is what the inn looks like from this side All the body soaps are provided with bubble soap, in consideration of the environment. 🌏✨ Kushimoto is the southernmost part of Honshu, but
it is 5 or 6 degrees cooler than Kyoto or Osaka (Kyoto 38 degrees, Kushimoto 32 degrees). It faces the Pacific Ocean, so the sea breeze can easily enter, and
there is a mountain forest right behind it, so the temperature doesn’t rise easily. However, because it faces the ocean, the UV rays are apparently stronger than in Osaka,
and it doesn’t feel particularly cool, but… But when the wind blew in the shade, it definitely felt cooler than the uncomfortable hot winds of the city. It’s almost time to say goodbye. I’ll definitely come back! It’s about a 30-minute walk to Kushimoto Station, so I’ll walk. I was planning to take a bus from Kushimoto Station to Shionomisaki, but I’m tired from walking, so I’ll go home now. The good thing about traveling alone is that you can suddenly change your plans😂

I’m going back on the “Kuroshio” departing at 9:23🚃 The “Kuroshio” express train runs from Shingu in Wakayama to Shin-Osaka and Kyoto This is a decorated train for Spaceport Kii, Japan’s first private rocket launch site🚅🚀! If you choose seats C or D, you can enjoy the view of the Pacific Ocean Some people are surfing Thank you for watching!
ご視聴ありがとうございます☻Thank you for watching my video 🙂
