【栃木観光】宇都宮の魅力をぎゅっと凝縮!文化と自然に触れる一日旅 | 旧篠原家住宅、八幡山公園、慈照寺、二荒山神社、宇都宮城址公園
Hello everyone, this is Ecotabi. Today I am in Utsunomiya, Tochigi Prefecture. This is Utsunomiya Terrace, which was built in 2022. This is the next-generation streetcar “Light Line” that will be built in 2023. Currently, it extends east from Utsunomiya Station, but it is said that it will extend westward in the future. I came to the former Shinohara family residence, which is about a 5-minute walk from the west exit of JR Utsunomiya Station. This building is a nationally designated important cultural property and a city-designated tangible cultural property of the Shinohara family, a wealthy merchant family that ran a soy sauce brewing and fertilizer business. This day was the day before a special exhibition by flower arranger Shogo Kariyazaki, and although I was able to go inside, I was unable to take photos as Mr. Kariyazaki was actually creating his work. Over there is the Tochigi Prefectural Cultural Center. Across from it is the Tochigi Prefectural Office. This is Showakan. Next to it is the current Tochigi Prefectural Office. This government building is the 5th generation, and the Showa building is the 4th generation. It was apparently built in 2007, and there is an observation lobby on the 15th floor. It has been certified as a Japan Night View Heritage Site. The flowers are blooming beautifully. Is it plum? This temple is famous for its weeping cherry blossoms. I came to Hachimanyama Park, located behind the Tochigi Prefectural Office. There is a bicycle velodrome, Japanese garden, animal plaza, etc. here, but I would like to take a look at the area called Adventure U first. A lot of children are playing there. It makes me smile. Interesting slide. I’m an adult, so I’ll leave this to the kids. There are also go-karts. This is Adventure Bridge. It’s a wonderful suspension bridge. It is said to be 152m long and 30m high. By the way, this bridge seems to be famous as a haunted spot. The scenery during the day is wonderful, but it can be scary at night. This park is open 24 hours a day, so if you are interested, please come by. There is a tower in the back that looks like Tokyo Tower, but it is called Utsunomiya Tower. Well, it is as it is. Adventure Bridge seen from the other side. It tapers toward the center of the bridge, making it look even longer. There are also animals in Hachimanyama Park. Let’s go for a moment. Is this a Japanese garden? It would be beautiful if the cherry blossoms bloomed. There is a shrine called Hanawata Hachimangu Shrine in the park. We’ve arrived, Animal Plaza. What’s more, it’s free here. That’s a lot of weight. You can see capybaras for free. It feels good. enviable. I want to be a capybara. Capybara and bird. It’s a strange combination, but I don’t think they’ll fight. My steps were leisurely lol Ah, I went back to the hut. Something is wrong. Chicken. This is Silkie. Next is the red-crowned crane. There are a lot of birds. There are also raccoons and ponies. I wonder if this kid is a ring-tailed lemur. There’s a pony here. It’s a bit far. Hmm, I can’t see very well. . . I left the park. The park is located on a mountain, so there are good views. I came to Jikoji Temple at the foot of Mt. Hachiman. It’s a beautiful and magnificent Akamon. This temple was built in 1516 and is located northeast (Kimon) of Utsunomiya Castle, the base of the Utsunomiya clan, and is said to have played the role of warding off demons. It should be noted that the gate mentioned earlier did not exist at the time of its construction, but was built in 1778 by a man named Gengoro Eda, who collected funds from the townspeople. Apparently, this Akamon gate was destroyed in an air raid during World War II, and the current Akamon gate was rebuilt in 2008. Also, here is the Edo Higanzakura, which is famous as the earliest cherry blossom in Utsunomiya. Is this it? It hasn’t bloomed yet. The Edohigan cherry tree here has been certified as a city natural monument, is said to be 200 years old, and is 20 meters tall. The cherry blossoms haven’t bloomed yet. It was a beautiful temple with the red gate standing out against the blue sky. It was almost time to check in at the hotel, so I arrived at the hotel. The hotel we will be staying at today is Four Points Flex by Sheraton Utsunomiya. Here is the room. It’s a double room, but it’s only 11 square meters, so it’s small. The power supply is a type that does not require a card key to be inserted. rare. Here is the water area. Although it is a unit bath, it is also small. Specifications that allow you to place things on top of the toilet tank. Shower head is small. Hmm, my desk is small. The TV is also small. The room is clean and stylish, but it’s still small. The view is nice. Tea and electric kettle. There is a refrigerator under the desk. Check-in is at 15:00 and check-out is at 11:00. There is a laundry and vending machines on the first floor. There is also a lounge on the first floor. Free bread and drinks are available from 6:00 to 10:00. You can also use it freely from 12:00 to 22:00. The coffee maker seems unusable except for breakfast. I came out of the hotel. The hotel is located about an 8-minute walk from the east exit of JR Utsunomiya Station. The west exit side of JR Utsunomiya Station looks like this. It looks like there is something called Shidori Mound at the end of the arrow. Is this what’s next? Is this it? It is a designated historic site by Utsunomiya City. Next, I visited Utsunomiya Futarasan Shrine. Since Nikko also has Futarasan Shrine, it is called “Utsunomiya Futarasan Shrine” to distinguish it from that. This shrine is located at the top of Mt. Myojin, which is about 135 meters above sea level. It’s a small mountain, but it’s a little intimidating when you look at the stairs from below. Phew, I’m tired. This is what it looks like from above. It is said that this shrine was moved to its current location on Mt. Myojin in 838. It’s a fairly old shrine. From the Heian period to the Kamakura period, the most prestigious shrines in each country were called Ichinomiya shrines, and Futarasan Shrine was also called “Shimono no Kuni Ichinomiya”, and there is one theory that the place name Utsunomiya was a corruption of Ichinomiya. Although it is a shrine with such a long history, in recent years the plaza with the torii gate below has hosted events such as Japan Cup Criterium (cycle road race) and FIBA 3×3 World Tour (world three-person basketball tournament), and events with a rich international flavor are held, with top-class players from teams from all over the world gathering. It’s interesting that an international sporting event is held at a shrine. This is the Orion shopping street near the shrine mentioned earlier. This is the center of downtown Utsunomiya. There are many restaurants lined up in the arcade. Is this a plaza? Free water spot. When you exit the Orion shopping street, you will see Tobu Department Store. There was a Catholic church called Matsugamine Church right next to Tobu Department Store. This church is one of the largest existing Romanesque Revival buildings made of Oya stone, and was registered as a national registered tangible cultural property in 1998. Unfortunately, since it was a Friday, we were not able to tour the inside of the church. Let’s look forward to the next opportunity. I walked a little further and came to Utsunomiya Castle Ruins Park. The lighting is beautiful. It’s reflected on the water surface. beautiful. Almost all of Utsunomiya Castle’s structures were lost during the modern wars and post-war urban development in the Showa era, but it was rebuilt as a city park in 2006. Approximately 3.3 billion yen was invested in the development of this park from 2001 to 2006, of which 900 million yen was subsidized by the government. Surprisingly, it is possible to make something like that. Of the 3.3 billion yen, 900 million yen is government assistance, so Utsunomiya City’s burden is 2.4 billion yen, but since there are approximately 500,000 Utsunomiya residents, the burden is about 4,800 yen per person. Considering that this is a park that can be used for a long time, it feels quite cheap. On a different note, the castle turret here is open for free from 9am to 7pm. Basically, you can only enter the first floor, but the second floor is also open to the public on the third Sunday of every month. Additionally, four types of cherry blossoms are planted in this park, and you can enjoy the cherry blossoms from late February to mid-April. The ones that are blooming now are Kawazu cherry blossoms. The cherry blossoms at night are beautiful. In addition, weeping cherry blossoms and Someiyoshino cherry blossoms bloom from late March to mid-April, and Daisen cherry blossoms bloom from early April to mid-April. I returned to the shopping street. I would like to go back to the hotel soon. That’s all for today’s video. Thank you for watching.
