エルム通り(Οδος Ερμου)。素晴らしいメインストリート(ウォーキングや観光に最適)です。 – ギリシャ、アテネ – ECTV
Hey everybody, this is Eric Clark’s Travel Videos and I’m in Athens, Greece and I’m at the top of Street. Mu street um eru um street and it’s the main walking street and what’s interesting about this street is that it takes you straight from Santagma Square and Santagma train station or metro stop all the way down to the little church in the middle of the road and then it takes you even further all the way down to the um Hrien’s wall or Hrien’s Library. Uh yeah, Hrien’s Library and the flea market and all that stuff. So, I’m going to walk it so we can do it together. How’s that sound? And it’s pretty amazing. Just remember, it’s at the top of this. So, if you get off this Cogma Square and you’re on a boat and you only have a couple hours, you just have to know you’re going to walk all the way down this street, turn around, and come all the way back and get back on the boat or the metro and get out of here. So, let’s turn this camera around and we’ll go do it together. And be really careful about this traffic because it’s pretty crazy. So, follow the signals by all means. Not that I do, but uh it’s probably really smart. So, you can see the line over there. It says 543, and then the red light’s going to change to a green guy. And there we go. You got 15 seconds to cross the street. Again, this is street and this is the main walking street. And I didn’t even know it, too. Here’s another McDonald’s that I didn’t even know existed here. Isn’t that terrible? You know, usually I find all the McDonald’s and go get a hamburger to see if I get the two pickles. But anyway, I didn’t know this one was here. There’s one by the Acropolis, too, and it’s hidden. And I did a video on that. I didn’t even know this one was here. And it’s been how many times I’ve been here? 10. And lived here for months. Yeah. Anyway, Street. So, we’ll just walk down it and be casual and calm. And you can see what you get. So, fountains and cameras and guys taking videos and Okay, if they’re YouTubers, I’m I’m like uh I’m at the low end of this totem pole. You know, they’ve got these $1,000 cameras, but not me. I got a $400 camera that’s 5 years old. Anyway, enough of this. And there’s tons of police. There’s tons of, you know, security measures and safety measures here. Um, and and you don’t really have to worry about being safe on this street. I think if you come out here at 1:00 in the morning or 2:00 in the morning, it might be a different story, but uh during the day, nah, I think it’s pretty pretty safe. So, an H&M store, Tomatus, and another fountain. And again, lots and lots and lots of people. I don’t know if you can see it from here. If you look straight way, way way way down there, there’s a church right in the middle of the road. And the whole city kind of was constructed all around that church. So, um, that’s where we’re going to go. But we’re going to look at all the stores. Bill Cas and Pink Woman and hotels and restaurants. And again, I think when the ships come in, I think these little streets just get flooded with people and activity. And um here’s another thing to notice. How many people you see on this side? Not many. How many people you see on this side? A whole bunch. Cuz that’s the shade. And it is probably 100° today. Um, and the humidity is pretty heinous, but not the point. So, Mango, if you need to buy clothes, you can buy clothes. Um, there’s Mickey Mouse, who’s probably hotter as hell. Um, JD Sports, Sephora, Mr. phone lipin house and funky Buddha, whatever that means. Teranova, tons of stuff, but it’s just really just a major walking street. Don’t get me wrong, cars can go up and down here. You see a van right in front of me, but they’re usually making deliveries and dropping off stuff or delivering food or or supplies or what have you. And off of each one of these is another little side street that takes you to another place. Here’s Mark and Spencer. Fresh organic cosmetics and people dropping stuff. And again, not very many people on the right, a whole bunch of people on the left. So, if you’re looking for bread, this place is probably one of the best I found. Matsuka. Matsuka. And they do sourdough bread right there. there and it’s absolutely wonderful. Uh it’s a little spindy, a little more than a grocery store, but not bad. Um and this one, Hondao Center, is probably the place you probably need to know. It has everything. Toothpaste, cosmetics, and it’s like multiple floors and they have everything. Curling irons and, you know, brushes and toothbrushes. I mean, just just everything. And another Mr. Phone. Dashing Dot. And you can see the church a little better now, can’t you? And it’s really an amazing church. But again, they decided to save the church and build the whole entire city, the heart of the city right around that church. Um, and and it has like a little little tiny strip around it that but it it’s still they built it up right around that church. And it’s amazing. I mean, look at these buildings. These are all pretty modern and everything else, but we’ll go take a look. And then I’m going to go past this. I’m going to go all the way down to um the other thing. And there’s usually guys playing. I think I can hear the guy. There’s usually a guy sitting in a little chair playing a guitar. I’m singing over here on the left side. So, I might have to talk loud. Atlet um there Zaba. Um Pandora. And so, but again, here’s the church and it’s pretty cute and the church is amazing to go in and it’s certainly an oldie. Um, I’ve been in there multiple times and I think I did a video on it, too. So, you can take a look. But, uh, and the music’s playing pretty loud, so I’m going to talk pretty loud just to keep it going so that I don’t, uh, have to lose my my paying for this video. But anyway, here’s the church. pretty amazing. And so, uh, you know, there the guys are playing and you can see how how full and loud this place is and and maybe since it’s Greece music, it won’t uh flag my uh my video here. So, but uh and here’s the church and it’s pretty amazing. and another H&M and Kimbo and Mark Allen and uh we’re just going to go right around this church and just stay on the same road. Um and we’re going to hit another church on the left side and the square where Hrien’s Library Hrien’s Library. Yeah, Hrien. It’s a big wall, but it’s his library from old days. Um, so anyway, I’m just here to show you what this looks like so you know what to expect when you get here. Um, if you need a SIM card, see this place called Cosmos? That’s where I get my SIM card. And I think it was $15 for unlimited for the whole entire month. Super super super cheap. So, you’re not paying for, you know, 20 bucks for uh one gigabyte or something. But and then again, we just walk on down. And again, there’s streets on all sides. They go left and right. And some go to restaurants and some go to more stores. And the the one here to the left, the left side is where the Acropolis is. And I think from this street, we should be able to see the And you can Can you see the Acropolis way up there on top? And so there’s just more there to see. I’ll get on this right side. I’m already melting, so it doesn’t matter, but I don’t want to run into traffic. So, and down here is that little restaurant that I told you about, Savas, where you get the euros for €4. 1 for €4. I think you’re losing on that deal. Well, if it was all money, but it’s not. Anyway, doesn’t matter. on the right side. If you go a little further, that’s where that uh what was it? Uh Nook Cook Cook uh whatever place was with the Disney stuff. Toy Moy Oi. Um and this is also one of the major stops for all the tourist bus. You can see one up there turning, but uh there’s tons of them. I’m going to go ahead and cross here and hope I don’t get hit. Here’s another thing to pay attention to. the scooters and motorcycles will just fly through traffic. So, even if the traffic stopped, you certainly need to look both ways because uh and they’ll go up the wrong and down the wrong, up the sidewalk, on the sidewalk, in a park, doesn’t matter. Um so, and this right up here is the square we’re going to. And again, it’s certainly crowded here. And this is the top. So, this is the flea market, the mosque, the other church, the Hrien’s Library, and I’ll show you what that looks like um soon as I get through the traffic here. I told you this was a major bus stop. It’s just tour buses. So, there’s a hop on, hop off. There’s a a tourist bus stop and all that stuff right here, too. Um All right. I’m passing And so this is the other square I was talking about. It’s not even half as big as the centagma. Um and but you can see the Acropolis from up here or from down here. You can see this is the mosque right here. There’s another church right here. Um Hrien’s library is over there. That SAS is over there. Um, I’m sorry I’m spinning fast. Um, and there’s the flea market entrance right up there on top. You see the blue sign that says flea market? And it’s worth seeing. I’ve done videos on that before in the past. Um, I probably won’t do more, but there’s fruits and vegetables, peaches, and cherries and the whole nine yards right here. But that’s what it’s like coming down that street. Um, it’s a pretty uh major street and one worth coming to. It’s certainly uh certainly amazing. So, I’ll get up here and I’ll stop at Hrien’s library so you have an idea what we’re looking at. And this is a metro stop, too, by the way. The flea market metro stop. And there’s the mosque. But this is Hrien’s Library right there. That’s it for me, everybody. I hope you enjoyed walking down the main street. Gives you an idea what you’re looking at. Thanks, everybody. Bye-bye.
Ermou Street (Greek: Οδός Ερμού, romanized: Odos Ermou, lit. ’Hermes Street’) is a one and a half kilometer-long road in central Athens, Greece, connecting Kerameikos archaeological site with the Syntagma Square through Monastiraki, Psiri and Thiseio.
It consists of three sections: The east (from Filellinon Street to Aiolou Street, app. 700m long)[1] which is a pedestrian zone and the city’s best-known and busiest shopping street,[2] the middle (from Aiolou Street to Agion Asomaton str.) and the west (from Agion Asomaton to Peiraios Street) a pedestrian zone also.
With fashion shops and shopping centres promoting most international brands, it is in the top five most expensive shopping streets in Europe, and the tenth most expensive retail street in the world.[3] Nearby, the renovated Army Fund building in Panepistimiou Street includes the “Attica” department store and several upmarket designer stores.
One of the oldest churches in Athens, the Byzantine Church of Panagia Kapnikarea is in a small square, on the east section of Ermou Street, while the small Holy Archangels Church lies at the western end, at Agion Asomaton Square.
The western section of the road which was remodeled for the 2004 Olympic Games constitutes the ending of the Grand Promenade, the pedestrian walkway around the Acropolis, part of the city’s Archaeological Unification Project.[4]
Ermou Street is twinned with the Okurayama Street in Kanagawa Prefecture – Japan since August 1, 1988.
