Eating seafood is also great But personally, I definitely can’t eat it It’s better with more people This is my first meal Bian Sui Noodle Soup Very interesting This seems to be selling for 38 yuan Hello, it’s evening again It’s already half past six now The sky is still bright We’re going to the night market There are directions from the hotel Very clear, there’s only one road Although it’s not exactly close It’s just a 5-6 minute walk Super lively It’s super lively up ahead here Their night market is mainly concentrated in two areas They collectively refer to it as West Street Actually, it includes Zhongshan Road They say over at Zhongshan Road there are even more non-internet-famous delicacies all lining up in queues what are they queuing for This is very famous Is this the one people are lining up for? Wrong one, not this shop But this four-fruit soup is also very famous It’s probably fruit ice That’s about right Here you’ll casually see Those little white cars There’s a bus Across the street, there’s Four Fruits Soup Actually, I’m hungry again now – it’s totally normal Actually, the lunch there was pretty good But I didn’t dare to eat too much And after returning to the hotel, I changed clothes Took a shower and had a comfortable sleep It’s not so hot now, Dongxing Beef King That place seems really famous And I want to try the oyster omelet See if I can get to eat it Plus there are many mango trees around here When you walk down the street you’ll see many mangoes fallen on the ground The shop across the street is also very famous Let’s take a walk first Don’t eat too much in one meal I also eat vermicelli soup Many people This is also very famous It’s called Grandma’s Rice Dumplings Actually, I don’t eat ginger duck stew Because it comes in a huge pot How can I finish it? Wasting food is not good There’s some oyster vermicelli soup across the street I’d still prefer places with more tourists The streets smell amazing with all that ginger duck stew I guess they must add some ginger while cooking it Fragrant ginger aroma Coming here again, yes this is West Street You will see this pagoda If I remember correctly This should be the East Pagoda This is the favorite spot for tourists It happens to be rush hour right now Kids are getting out of school very prosperous and very interesting across the street they actually sell tree-ripened mangoes for sale Locally grown mangoes, tree-ripened Zongzi, they really enjoy eating zongzi here too I want to put it a bit further back It should be delicious There’s also fried dough wrapped in glutinous rice cake But this area is for vehicles to enter Sometimes a car might appear behind you And you’ll see another one ahead This should be a Catholic church There’s also Japanese ramen across the street No good reason to come here for Japanese ramen Even if you eat more satay noodles I never eat Japanese ramen But it’s really busy here Lots of cars coming and going Let’s quickly see which shops are here It makes me want to go in at first sight. Sorry, this is a Christian church. I was mistaken just now. Clearly, I can’t tell the difference. It’s perfectly normal This is also something I’ve seen on social media Run Douhua, it’s a chain operation But many people still eat there And I’ve always wanted to know The tofu pudding I had for lunch today Is it normal Should it be like this Below is the four-fruit soup Only one in Quanzhou Leave this for now Put this further back You really need to be very careful here Those motorcycles These are really motorcycles They can ride motorcycles Just like our usual motorbikes Then there will be another motor vehicle behind I wouldn’t drive here I think the locals are very cautious about driving here And there are also pickled fruits Aren’t these Guangxi flavors? They have them here too And lychees They also sell Guiwei here, ten yuan per pound There’s also a milk tea shop, I heard this one is pretty good. You can see it here too. Looks exciting, let’s go in and check it out. Those are restaurants, probably Gout Hot Pot Eat happily, and the air conditioning here is very powerful Very powerful, these seem really good This is how it is here, going up to the rooftop you can see the scenery this gout pot is seafood seafood causes gout in a place with air conditioning Eating seafood is also great I definitely can’t finish it alone It would be better with more people It’s really busy Cars come and go outside Even slightly larger vehicles can’t pass through The aunt doesn’t care at all Walking on the street is really enjoyable The taste of these ginger duck dishes I actually really don’t like it So I won’t go in, but it smells amazing There are also some vegetable sellers here Still not working here This side is done too If we really have to choose one Unless you like eating ginger duck hotpot It’s okay here And that place with air conditioning just now Doesn’t it look like the lion I saw at the base of the pagoda in the last episode? The one that knew how to laugh It is laughing Very busy, and there are many people wearing headpieces across the street They are here to take photos I am crossing the street here It gets much easier to walk from here Because everyone can see the road ahead is blocked No vehicles are allowed to enter Only one construction vehicle inside is permitted This place is much easier to walk than the street across just now. Even electric bikes can’t enter. Even people can’t get across. These two lions are really amusing One is sticking out its tongue One is smiling This is the pedestrian street Does Nanchang Restaurant serve Jiangxi cuisine? I don’t know Hearing Cantonese here is actually quite common Fried yogurt, Quangang floating cake Hope I didn’t mispronounce that And there are souvenirs It seems like there’s less food here instead. So that’s how it is. This time period has traffic control. No vehicles are allowed to enter This is called the eastern section of West Street Actually, you can see that ancient pagoda in the back A Tang Dynasty ancient pagoda In the previous episode, I told everyone This place feels like a theme park It’s the ancient city here Surrounded and turned into a theme park There’s food There is a museum There are many different exhibition halls Most of them are free Just like when you go to Disneyland You can also buy some souvenirs if you’d like Of course, its owner isn’t the Disney company but the local residents This one is famous Auntie Qin’s Taro Cake It’s very famous, everyone should try this place when you get the chance And the one next to it I remember both being really good But it seems like there aren’t many people Let’s take a walk first While it’s still daylight, let’s take everyone for a walk I see a truck—this one collects garbage I see many people holding ice cream and eating it Just now I went back to edit the footage During the last episode’s journey inside Hearing very loud cicada sounds Now pay attention and you’ll hear it Actually, this place is Kaiyuan Temple If it hadn’t been too hot just now I need to hurry back and rest. Come out through this entrance. You can directly reach this pedestrian street. This design is very good Don’t talk about whether they’ll become too commercialized yet Just catering to tourists Of course it’s for tourist business Why would locals come here to eat I don’t think so But at least it’s comfortable to walk Many people here just walk past the restaurants Not to mention restaurants, even snacks aren’t bought by many There’s worm jelly congee here I’ve had it in Xiamen before Not hard to accept It’s about time to eat now Or you might find more restaurant options if you walk further back to Zhongshan Road. This is the tourist service center. Why are so many people going there? Probably to get those stamps. Or maybe because it has air conditioning inside It’s not that bad actually, it’s not as hot as it was at noon now. Probably buying souvenirs. There’s a stall selling taro cakes. Why so many? I guess it should be a chain-style one I guessed what the taste would be And it’s very filling when eaten, just bear with it The economy of young people, there’s a place above Specially designed for photo ops It does look prettier when shot from a higher angle Because all the buildings here are different from other pedestrian streets They’re all single-story houses Whether the food is good or not is one thing Walking around, it’s not like every pedestrian street is the same Although what they sell is all similar Actually, not many people are buying But it’s truly very distinctive Because everything is single-story houses The busiest thing is the garbage truck so impressive And one that goes all the way to the end It should be called the Clock Tower Hope I didn’t remember the name wrong It used to be a traffic post But it has been preserved The functionality isn’t great Taking photos for customers There aren’t as many people queuing here Buy a drink Just not too sweet is fine. As for me, I bought a drink. This is Fujian tea beverage. I ordered a cup of Green Mango and Phyllanthus Ice Tea 17 yuan The shop next door also sells that smiling lion souvenir I think we should go in and take a look If the price isn’t too high, we should buy it Just seeing it makes me happy Like this one, actually it looks great even without the word “Quanzhou” on it There are so many Some are smiling while playing the guitar And fridge magnets Bought a drink Just asked the sales guy He said this English word It actually means Fujian A homophone for Fujian I was talking about the Chinese characters there The Chinese characters there use a homophone for Fujian It’s all very tasty But it’s really expensive 17 yuan There’s a market, but it seems like there aren’t many people The kids are on holiday after finishing their exams. Everyone sees that it’s holiday time after exams. So it’s especially crowded. I think if I had come a week earlier, there would have been no one Even middle school students have finished their exams. What to do? Of course, go have fun. The first thing is to go have fun. Eager to try, sea worm jelly We Cantonese people see these Don’t find it very surprising Very delightful Just a few worms, that’s all There are even chicken frames for sale And so many people are still queuing up No need And they even have roujiamo (Chinese hamburgers) Now we’ve reached the end of the pedestrian street Starting to see more restaurants Like these All of them are worth trying Definitely local delicacies It must not be any other food How could it be done poorly I already have one in hand Just came by to take a look at this This is it, shouldn’t everyone come here to take a beautiful photo If you happen to pass by, no problem. But this is a road, it’s a traffic light. Could it be the most photographed traffic light in mainland China? It’s actually in use It’s not just for show The light is green, so we can go It’s just that this road isn’t very smooth Many people are queuing here to take photos There are photographers here Actually, there are many such people in mainland China now who come for check-in photos They know which spots look best for photos Then they’ll call you over They even do on-site photo editing And they’ll print them out It’s much better than taking photos yourself But of course you have to pay a certain fee It’s worth it with so many people filming Next, I head towards Zhongshan Road It’s the road right ahead It’s all pedestrian streets I see a sign that says no vehicles allowed I think I’ll find my dinner here No, you can actually enter all of these Electric bicycles can enter Better than private cars being allowed in Even these little white vehicles can enter This is also a great spot for check-in photos, so beautiful This is the semi-pedestrian street Cars can enter here Some sell food and drinks Some sell these items This is what I was talking about, the little white one—two yuan at a time. See, you look tired. If you’ve seen enough here, then you can leave. Pay up—you can give cash too WeChat is also acceptable Even tapping the Yangchengtong card like I did works They’ve renovated the arcade buildings Those upper parts definitely didn’t look like this before It’s been renovated now You can still see the names of some old shops above Below is where they sell these Selling curry, selling fruits Some Guangdong bloggers have been here I’ve seen on Xiaohongshu They said this place resembles Guangzhou’s Beijing Road Just for a casual stroll You can’t not come, but when you’re here, it feels like something’s missing. What exactly am I supposed to gain here? I just don’t know. Hurry up and let me eat my dinner Back to Zhongshan Road again Actually, if we enjoy street food We could have stayed at that place earlier But if you want to sit down for lunch Order a bowl or half bowl and savor it slowly Come over here I chose a place serving vermicelli soup Not sure if there’s any seating available And this place is very close to the Wen Pagoda Of course, by nightfall, they’ve already closed for the day These are actually quite good to eat I’ve checked, and they’re all very good There’s another local delicacy called beef steak It’s probably not the Western-style steak But there are plenty of places serving beef here Beef restaurants Very tidy, first find my oyster vermicelli soup It’s very busy here And everything can be found here Those tourist attractions Including Pan Gong The noodles I had this morning were right by Pan Gong And that place across the street looks really good too Is it a restaurant or something? It’s very beautiful. Looks like a restaurant. See that oyster omelet across the street. I want to try it. Let’s cross the street first The restaurant I’m looking for should be diagonally across the street. It’s like this You choose those toppings. Bian Sui Noodle Soup Starting at ten yuan per portion. Of course, don’t add things like sea cucumber This is my first meal Bian Sui Noodle Soup As they say, vermicelli paste Doesn’t it look like paste But also like vermicelli What ingredients did I put in? There’s large intestine. There’s fried vinegar-marinated pork. And there’s one more thing I forgot what it was. That’s right, beef Also, I noticed those uncles with Fujian accents in the area They would order this It explains how they came about Simply put, this is the farmer’s afternoon tea Let’s try it, how should we eat this You should put the fried dough sticks in The fried dough sticks are freshly replenished when they see them When they’re almost sold out, they make some more There are scallions and cilantro, with some meat underneath It’s salty Like what? Like a very low-end version of shark fin soup Not very thick either Nor does it have any strange taste Meat tastes like meat Rice vermicelli paste tastes like rice vermicelli paste Because they weren’t cooked together at the time They were added in later And its vermicelli soup should be flavorful. These below are the vermicelli noodles. But I can’t pick them up. Very interesting Finally got them picked up It’s those very thin, delicate noodles Or called rice noodles Try this one I ordered this because I saw that uncle ordering it Everything tastes great. This beef is the kind… …of marinated beef. It’s not just plain beef slices. Of course, there are tourists on-site, but actually, there are locals too Ahead to my left At least they’re Fujianese Of course I don’t know if they’re Quanzhou locals Let me try this one Fried Not only put in the noodle soup Can be eaten just like this plain After soaking in the soup It feels a bit like fried dough sticks soaked in soup. A little bit, still acceptable. I see many people might still have a bowl of pig blood soup. They would order pig blood soup Very interesting These are the things you can’t eat in Guangzhou. Specially looking for these to eat. Just like tourists coming to Guangzhou. They specifically eat wonton noodles, that’s right That fried dough stick is really good Fried dough stick This beef has been marinated in master stock It does have a bit of that master stock flavor It’s not beef slices, it’s salty. The saltiest one is this beef. Let’s unbox this. I know this is called Shigandang It is one that smiles with its mouth wide open Inside the mouth are those characteristic scenic spots of Quanzhou here Two towers, the East and West Pagodas Below is the Kaiyuan Temple And this place with the traffic control lights The Bell Tower, presumably I went to see it all Very interesting This one seems to be sold for 38 yuan The food here in Quanzhou is very filling I’ve already confirmed the one across the street It serves Southeast Asian cuisine. I never expected him to get such a place to serve Southeast Asian food. Can’t tell at all. Should I go to eat at the one diagonally opposite? Seeing very distinctive buses here Should I take a bus ride? Let’s walk around first I’m wandering aimlessly nearby to digest a bit If there’s something suitable to eat, I’d actually like to go have some dessert. As for the oyster omelet, they’ve already closed, no way. Turns out they close at 7:30 Nothing can be done about it I’ll head towards the pedestrian street because it’s close to the hotel This is the usual way, just keep going straight here I checked and there aren’t any big shopping malls around here It might be the old town Old town No large shopping malls But the old town is the old town It doesn’t feel like no one lives here Everyone can see Many people live here There are also many coffee shops here I see many, and here’s another one. The electric bikes here are legal and can ride on sidewalks. And they make no noise I was just watching that pretty girl while she was filming something Suddenly, a car appeared beside me And then that woman stared at me Still the same old story In the previous episode, we visited… We also went to Shenzhen We also went to Shantou Including today in Quanzhou In fact, most cities in mainland China are like this. It’s not just Guangzhou that has many electric scooters. Everyone, remember this. This is the place I mentioned earlier for Southeast Asian cuisine No, it’s all about eating local delicacies Not Southeast Asian cuisine It’s beautiful, sitting here slowly enjoying these Taking photos of the food If you want to eat at some nice restaurants there are some here the snacks from earlier can’t say they were all bad But according to my standards, few are worth buying But I feel confident about these Meatball soup Shrimp… thick soup But only here has Oyster congee, oyster omelet, do you have? I can’t see Fried wonton This place is fine If there were no seats at the previous place, I would have come here Seafood noodles, seafood congee More These restaurants are all worth trying Beef House, not a beef noodle restaurant, is one of them The one across the street is the vermicelli we just had And this one, a century-old establishment Cheqiaotou Wen Ah Shui Wan It should be read this way, from left to right Because the seal is in the upper right corner There’s no reason to read from right to left Maru Mizu and Wen Both methods seem to be read correctly Got on this car again It’s really convenient If I see one passing by, I’ll stop it. Then I’ll talk to the driver. As long as he’s willing to go, it’s fine. After that, just pay—very convenient Locals often take these This morning I saw someone taking these back after grocery shopping I wonder if he has a monthly pass – it even has route inquiry functionality You walk halfway and suddenly think this place looks good I’m not going to the destination anymore, need to change Just get off the car immediately Tell the boss Might pick up passengers along the way When they see a customer, they’ll stop And there are really many cars on this road, so they don’t move fast It’s really good When I get off, someone else gets on—that’s really nice Has ride-hailing functionality The family of three sitting in front of me earlier used ride-hailing The driver called to ask, “Where are you?” Then I went to pick him up, and I’m back here again. Back to the pedestrian street. Actually, I just didn’t feel like walking that stretch. Keep going straight and you’ll reach Weiyuan Tower, turn left and you’ll find Kaiyuan Temple I’ll go back to the pedestrian street This is a must-visit spot for check-ins There are many tourist attractions now I don’t know where to start teaching them I think it was Chaozhou or Shantou, I can’t remember. There are these characters for you to take photos of. After taking photos, you can say “I’ve finally been here.” What an adorable little girl Lizhou The “Li” in “carp” We saw that souvenir of the stone tablet There was a carp inside, that’s what it means Very busy coming here I took the wrong path, I should have gone that way I’m back at the pedestrian street again Seems like there are more and more people now More and more people Many people take photos here to capture some beautiful shots Slowly heading back towards the hotel Here are a few travel suggestions Or from my limited experience It’s better to visit in autumn Because it’s just too hot Many attractions require walking to reach This is the first one Second, do your homework before coming I’ve also done my homework and know where to go And I have colleagues who have been here before Otherwise, you won’t even know what it is when you get there. You really won’t know. That little white car will definitely help you—don’t skimp on the 2 yuan. No good, even if it’s cool autumn weather Walking isn’t a very wise decision Most attractions are concentrated where that bus operates As for hotels It depends on whether you have a car If most people don’t drive You don’t have to choose places that definitely have parking lots As for restaurants I strongly suggest going back to the previous one Renmin Road over there Those few places just now I think we probably won’t be disappointed Do your homework about a place before traveling there This place is really worth visiting But in terms of time spent here If we’re just talking about the old town area Actually one day or a little more than a day It’s already completely enough, like tomorrow for me Maybe if I leave in the afternoon Actually, I can supplement it tomorrow See if there are any places I haven’t been to yet That’s already enough There are still one or two places left to visit For example, those that aren’t temples Like the Zheng Chenggong statue, various others That’s about it after going there And the Tianhou Temple As for the Southern Shaolin Temple I actually think Not necessarily needed to Thinking of coming here to join a tour group This idea is wrong Even two people may not make the trip Instead, there is a suggestion that I never did it that way because I saw it only after leaving at the Kaiyuan Temple there Spend a little money Book a tour guide It’s definitely worth spending money to book an explanation Because I’ve also heard others explain it It’s completely different from looking up information on your own. In the afternoon, both I and that Hong Kong tourist asked about it. He said you need a guide to explain it Where would we know how to watch All those explanations above are very good As for the snacks here Choose dishes that many people enjoy eating But I think it’s not that others find them unpalatable Or inedible But rather that you’re already full You won’t be able to eat other local delicacies This might not be ideal Unless you have a really big appetite And their delicacies Most of it is starch Like those just mentioned, going back to what we were talking about earlier That thing just mentioned Don’t mention the biggest issue It’s a bit too salty, especially that beef. It’s marinated beef, very salty, couldn’t eat it all in the end. Everything else was good. Maybe choosing shrimp would be better This still requires waiting for a seat Chicken frame, you’re asking a Cantonese person to eat chicken frame That’s not right Is it really that delicious At night, more and more people come out There’s actually a reason for this Because as anyone who’s been to Bangkok knows No one goes out in the afternoon, but the night markets get lively in the evening This is no exception There were many people before, now even more I want to go to the front There’s a car dealership there, I think it’s even busier Now I’ll go back, have dessert, and call it a day. I wonder if it’s open. If it’s open, I’ll have one portion. Because I should still have room for dessert It’s fruit A very beautiful souvenir Free tasting This spot is amazing, everyone is taking photos This is the tower It looks really beautiful with the lights on at night This is a great spot for photos Now it’s half past eight Street vendors started appearing Like barbecue stalls But not many As for over there across the street That’s the place I just mentioned where the traffic is really bad. I won’t go over there. I’ll just go eat some four-fruit soup. And that’ll be it for today My hotel is just in this direction Just walk slowly There are many on this street I think I just walked past there earlier Houmian Noodle Soup Roasted Rice Dumplings are also available The best time to visit is right after it opens Very good Take a simple walk first Even though it’s so hot now If it were winter You might go a bit earlier Because it’s summer now and it doesn’t get dark until 7:30 Take your time, now it’s time to eat until full Walk back to the hotel at 8:30 Saw something suitable along the way Just one more dessert, and it would be perfect. This one is pretty good, I know. But we’re already closed. Four fruits… four what? I forgot what it’s called Where did it go? It’s missing Seems like it’s over there So that’s how it is. Just some fruits Selected fruits Then put them in one I guess these are sugar water I chose mango You can choose five types There’s this honeydew melon This one I think is mesona (grass jelly) And also barley It seems to be barley and mung beans Dragon fruit That’s how it is Let’s try what it tastes like If you want to eat fruits Go buy it Take it back to peel The wife can do it here But the wife isn’t around just eat this if not it must be the kind that the wife cuts well and tastes good this is beyond doubt And this water This soup is not very sweet It meets our Cantonese people’s requirement for desserts—not being sweet It’s not sweet Not sweet is not sarcasm It’s true It should be like this The fruits are all very fresh The mangoes are very fresh And there are plenty of choices There are many good things to eat, have some fruits All good Add some water here Packaged Eaten to the full – just now the family of three sitting behind me I guess it must be someone from Guangzhou Does everyone know how to tell? Only people from these three places of ours can distinguish it Don’t be angry People from Guangzhou rarely mix English into their speech But if you remove the English Hong Kongers and people from Guangzhou are quite similar If Hong Kongers don’t use those English words And don’t mention words like “pee bag” Actually, it takes me a long time to distinguish People from Macau have accents For example, they say “huge” as “giant” I’m very tired Don’t be angry, everyone I’m going back to the hotel There was something wrong with the cantaloupe just now Everything else is fine Is 13 yuan worth it? 13 yuan is better than the place at noon The air conditioning was sufficient at the noon place But the air conditioning wasn’t enough at the previous place Deduct its points Return to the hotel I won’t stay here tomorrow Tomorrow I’ll either go to Chaozhou We probably won’t go to Shantou. Xiamen is too close. The chance of going to Chaozhou is very high. After visiting Chaozhou, Then go again after one night Then return to Guangzhou like this We’ll talk again after waking up tomorrow Hello finally arriving at Shaolin Temple They opened at 9, and now it’s just 9:15. Ladies and gentlemen, I’ve finally arrived here. I just asked that fellow villager. They came from Guangzhou I made a special trip to Shanghai and helped take a photo Very good Those who have read Mr. Jin Yong’s novels should be quite familiar with the Shaolin Temple But Even if not in his novels have all heard of Shaolin Temple Ignorant indeed comes from his novels Only then did I realize Shaolin is divided into northern and southern branches The northern branch is at Songshan Mountain The southern branch is in Quanzhou called Dongyue Mountain in 686, a long time ago something that happened about 2000 years ago there were bandit troubles here at that time Robbery and Theft The local residents invited Shaolin monks from Song Mountain to quell the unrest They invited the Shaolin Temple from Song Mountain One of the Thirteen Stick-Wielding Monks Zen Master Zhikong traveled to Dongyue Mountain in Quanzhou Subdued this bandit who robbed villagers using Shaolin martial arts, then invited him to stay and spread Buddhist teachings here So there is Quanzhou Shaolin Temple which is a direct lineage of Songshan Shaolin Temple You must check in here when you come—this is the spot. The three characters “Shaolin Temple.” There’s a tea house. Then comes the phrase “Guangda Shaolin” in four characters I’m hungry, but I can still have a cup of tea here. Enjoy the beautiful scenery. Just now, everyone saw at eleven o’clock, There’s also a performance here I don’t know if I’ll make it in time Because I’m going to Chaozhou next Even with charging during the three-hour drive The timing is still very tight If it’s eleven o’clock, seeing it until eleven-thirty Add another three hours is not unacceptable This tree is called an osmanthus tree A hundred years of history Very old Mainland residents are supposed to wash their hands here It should be washable This is where you’re supposed to wash your hands rather than them not following the rules because that’s what the tour guide taught They say you should do this before entering the sacred Buddhist grounds clean up a bit purify a bit This should be the effect Not them dirtying the place, no no This is even more impressive It turns out to be inscribed by Mr. Jin Yong Guangda Shaolin Mr. Jin Yong’s calligraphy is relatively easy to recognize It’s not something that needs to be guessed The Shaolin Temple was actually destroyed During the late Tang Dynasty by a local ruler known as the Min King After learning they had defected to the Tang, they destroyed this place. During the Southern Song Dynasty Because of resisting the Yuan troops This place was destroyed for the second time You might be more familiar with the three instances of destruction. It was Emperor Qianlong who burned this temple. What was the purpose? It was the Tiandihui’s rebellion against the Qing to restore the Ming Is the story actually true? Of course, I also looked up the information myself. Is it based on real events, or what? I need to see if I can find the answer As for what’s in front of me now Those characters need to be examined slowly to understand For now, I haven’t found when it mentions the reconstruction These are all ancient texts. There’s also a tree here. Tied with many Prayer ribbons But it doesn’t specify what kind of tree this is. With my limited knowledge, it should be a banyan tree. Because it has aerial roots. This Great Buddha Hall in front of me Below is written: Quanzhou Shaolin Temple Cultivating both Zen and martial arts Shaolin Zen Temple If you’re very interested in this period of history must also be interested as long as they’ve read the novels in fact, Mr. Jin Yong’s novels are not entirely fictional they are based on real events On one hand, you can look at those buildings up there Those rooftops up there Shaolin Zen Temple The characters are gilded Then practice both Zen and martial arts Everyone knows what Zen means You should already know about martial arts Actually, the recommended play order is The first one is the Heavenly King Hall The second one is the Grand Hall behind me Then comes the Guanyin Pavilion And there’s also the Bodhidharma relief sculpture If there’s enough time, it’ll be 11:30 Now it’s changed to 11 o’clock, just depends on the work We can have vegetarian lunch here at noon This is the process Let me see if I can get in. But even if I go in, I can’t take pictures. Let’s take a look outside with everyone. Finally, we’ve arrived at the Heavenly King Hall Because entry inside is not allowed I can only explain to everyone at the entrance Three destructions and three revivals, along with Quanzhou Shaolin Temple Actually, this hall in front was renovated in 1992 But at that time, it was all based on a photograph taken by a Japanese photographer in 1920 and was reconstructed in 1982 then in 2022 Finally, in front of the Great Hero Hall the Heavenly King Hall was rebuilt It was renovated at the time, but the trees have remained until now There are two ginkgo trees that are 1,500 years old Amazing There is a clock tower here There is a clock tower nearby Inside the Heavenly King Hall, Maitreya Buddha is enshrined Four Heavenly Kings And Skanda Bodhisattva Yet in this tranquil place, I don’t know why the noise has persisted until now I don’t know why You might need to come here for some peace and quiet Even without going inside You can still see it from outside Maitreya Buddha smiling at you See more of Maitreya Buddha The mind becomes a bit more serene Right next to here is actually the martial arts hall It’s the place for martial arts performances There’s also a vegetarian restaurant I’ll go take a look Confirm their performance schedule See if we can make it in time There’s a place selling souvenirs here And it says here Vegetarian restaurant Buffet for 39 yuan per person There are these foods Of course, it’s simple You can’t mess around Just go down here Not now, because I just checked. 39 yuan per person is actually not expensive. Hello everyone, I’m back on the bus again. Here’s what happened Just now I saw a few fellow townspeople from Guangzhou. They were leaving, and I asked why they weren’t watching the kung fu performance. They said they wouldn’t watch it for two reasons: first, it actually costs money. Second, even if it didn’t cost money, they still wouldn’t watch it It seems charging 50 yuan per person wouldn’t be a problem. If the performance is good, even 100 yuan would be acceptable for traveling this far. But the issue is, there actually aren’t any real hardcore martial arts skills inside. They’re just walking around in kasayas, waving some flags around I also go on the mainland’s bilibili It’s been confirmed that some bloggers upload there That’s indeed the case Not only that And I saw that mainland blogger not just one, but several when they post, there’s very powerful music inside it’s like watching a Catwalk show I don’t think it’s necessary Or perhaps everyone can come back and see for themselves later Because my channel has always been called “Planting Grass” What does that mean? It’s about stirring up your cravings Then you come and take a look Because I think I’ve filmed everything and put it out there If you watch it and then don’t come, that’s actually not a good solution Rather, I attract you here, and you come to see it in person yourselves Because everyone’s preferences are different It’s not even 10:30 yet I decided to set off Straight to Chaozhou Because it takes about 3 hours, and I’ll charge once on the way.

Quanzhou Mianxianhu is a traditional Minnan (southern Fujian) delicacy originating from Quanzhou. It features ultra-thin rice noodles (called “mianxian”) simmered into a porridge-like broth, typically prepared with pork bones, dried oysters, and shrimp bran for a rich umami flavor. Toppings include pork intestines, vinegar-marinated pork, shrimp, braised eggs, and fried dough sticks (youtiao), garnished with scallions, celery, and pepper. The dish is celebrated for its smooth, velvety texture—achieved by cooking the thread-like noodles until tender yet retaining a slight chewiness. Often eaten as breakfast or late-night supper, it is traditionally paired with youtiao for dipping. Symbolizing the refined yet comforting essence of Minnan cuisine, Mianxianhu was listed as Quanzhou’s Intangible Cultural Heritage in 2015.

Quanzhou Siguotang (Four Fruits Soup) is a classic Minnan summer dessert with origins dating back to the Song-Yuan dynasties. Traditionally featuring four base ingredients—mung beans, red beans, barley, and lotus seeds—it now offers over a dozen customizable toppings such as chewy atadz (tapioca pearls), crunchy shihuagao (gelidium jelly), watermelon, pineapple, taro balls, and white fungus. Served in chilled honey or cane sugar syrup, topped with crushed ice and dried tangerine peel powder, its signature element is the translucent shihuagao—a gelatinous substance boiled from seaweed using ancient methods, prized for its refreshing texture. Symbolizing the local wisdom of “combating heat with sweetness,” this iconic icy treat dominates Quanzhou’s summer streetscapes and carries profound cultural significance for overseas Fujian communities. It was recognized as Quanzhou’s Intangible Cultural Heritage in 2021.

Quanzhou West Street, the 1,000-year-old artery of the ancient city, dates back to the Tang-Song dynasties. Stretching 800 meters, it stands as a historic landmark of the “Starting Point of the Maritime Silk Road.” The street preserves clusters of Minnan-style red-brick houses, arcaded buildings, and century-old shops, anchored by the Kaiyuan Temple complex featuring the Song-dynasty East and West Pagodas (China’s tallest stone pagodas) and Tang-era mulberry relics. Lined with intangible-heritage snacks like runbing (spring rolls), tushundong (worm jelly), and manjiangao (pancakes), it showcases religious diversity with adjacent mosques, Taoist temples, and churches. Hailed as an “open-air museum of Minnan architecture,” it was inscribed as part of “Quanzhou: Emporium of the World in Song-Yuan China” on the UNESCO World Heritage list in 2023, where vibrant daily life intertwines with millennia of cultural legacy.
