【タイ・バンコク🇹🇭】チャトチャック市場だけじゃない!市場の周りにあるショッピングモールが面白い!(ミクストチャトチャック・JJモール)
Today, Nampla-san is heading to a famous shopping spot in Bangkok, the capital of Thailand! 👕 We’re at the shopping malls around Chatuchak Market, “Mixt Chatuchak” and “JJ Mall.” These are hidden gems where you can shop in a cool, air-conditioned mall, and find a variety of interesting items, from fashion accessories, jewelry, and home decor to traditional Thai items and collectibles like figurines. You can find all sorts of interesting products here. So, what are these places really like? Let’s go find out with Nampla-san! 🐟 Hello, this is Nampla-san. Today, we’re at the Chatuchak Weekend Market. We’re going to show you the shopping malls located around Chatuchak. Yeah, they’re surprisingly interesting places. They really are! Chatuchak Market is so huge, so when you get tired, you can browse for products in the cool mall. It’s a great place to take a break. Alright, let’s introduce you to it. Let’s go! Let’s check it out! 🏃🏃♀️ Wow, it’s hot again today. 🥵 So hot. 🌞 It’s always a struggle with the heat when we come to Chatuchak Market. When you’re shopping, it feels even hotter because of the crowds and the sun. I know, right? For times like that, there’s a shopping mall called “MIXT Chatuchak” right next to the market. You can find interesting fashion goods and a lot of figurines for sale there. It’s a very unique building. 🏙️ You can cool off and grab a bite to eat inside this building. That’s right! They have a big food court there. First, let’s go check out the inside of the building. Let’s go! Here’s the entrance, so let’s head right on in! A young lady opened the door for us. ✨ Thank you! The people in Thailand are so kind! It’s nice and cool inside with the air conditioning. 🎐 The mall is crowded, too. There are a lot of products here as well. They have just as many products here as the Chatuchak Market. This is a shop for leather goods. Their products are cute. There are also souvenir shops like this one. They’re selling the seaweed snacks that we always buy. Souvenirs, art, and daily necessities are all sold together in a mix. That’s amazing! It feels like there are more shops than before. There definitely are! I don’t think this shop was here before. This place feels like a cool, air-conditioned Chatuchak Market. So cute! Incredible! There’s a huge pile of sandals. 🩴 This area is shoe heaven! The price is cheap! 150 Baht (about 4.50 USD).💴 This is a souvenir shop, and apparently, everything is 100 Baht (about 3 USD)! I found Crayon Shin-chan! There are a lot of jewelry shops like this in Thailand. 💎 It seems like they mine a lot of natural stones in Thailand. There are so many different things here, you could stay in this mall all day and not get bored. There’s a place that sells a lot of snacks like this. They sell snacks that are perfect for giving out as souvenirs. You can easily buy souvenirs here! I don’t think this shop was here the last time I came to this mall. More wonderful shops are popping up! This is a great spot for souvenirs! This is the fried fish skin snack that I like. They sell a lot of Ya Dom (herbal inhalers) here. This is amazing! There are so many products. They also sell dresses like these that you could wear at the beach. 👗 It would be nice to buy something here before heading to an island. It looks like you can ship your luggage from here! 📦 That’s convenient. It’s nice to be able to go home hands-free. There’s a cafe and a noodle shop here. There’s a 7-Eleven here! How convenient! Now, let’s head up to the second floor! Cute items. This place is a paradise for figurines. Look, they have so many products. You’re right, this is amazing. They sell merchandise for all kinds of anime characters. So, Thai people like this kind of stuff, just like Japanese people. It’s nice to see Japanese culture so prevalent in Thailand. What’s this? There’s a cool-looking Hiroshi! (Crayon Shin-chan’s dad) So cool. His legs are so long. That’s amazing. There are so many Monchhichis here. It’s an old character from Japan. This shop sells a lot of teddy bears. They’re wearing all sorts of different clothes. This must be an amazing place for people who love figurines. There’s quite a variety. I doubt you could find a place with this many types of figurines even if you searched in Japan. They have a great collection of One Piece figures with all the familiar characters. There are a lot of Japanese products sold here. Old masks and… are those lights for the Hinamatsuri (Girls’ Day) festival? They even sell samurai helmets (kabuto) here. It’s so interesting that they sell things like this. That’s cool. So many Japanese items. 🇯🇵 There are old Japanese dolls here. Wow, there are so many. You might be able to find more Japanese antiques in Bangkok than in Japan. That’s true, you rarely find items like this even in Japan. Doesn’t it have a super retro feel? It really does. I wonder how much they are. About 4,500 yen. So about 1,000 Baht. They should cost about that much even secondhand. You’re right. Look at this! So many wood-carved bears! 🐟🐻 This is a souvenir from Hokkaido, right? This one is 500 Baht, so it’s selling for about 2,000 yen. Is that so? You might be able to get a pretty good deal. I want to display this in my house. Beautiful Japanese tableware is being sold at an 80% discount. Nice. This is a retro camera. 📸 A Hitachi video camera, fun to look at. 📹 This is amazing! There are so many lenses. The figurine section just keeps going on and on, it’s incredible. So interesting. There were a lot of Japanese characters and figurines. Here’s a shop with gemstone accessories. 💍 This is the shop where I always buy my hats. The hat he’s wearing today, he bought it here. 🎩 It’s his favorite hat, you know. They have a lot of cheap, good-quality products here. This is a great shop. Here’s a shop with cute woven bags. Is this decorated with seashells? It’s so beautiful. There are stylish shops like this one, too. They also sell herbal teas like this, which are very pretty. There’s a massage shop in such an open space. That’s nice for when you’re tired from shopping. You’re right, it looks so relaxing. It’s live music. That’s amazing. The things sold here are cute, too. They’re selling Thai fisherman pants and things like that. There are so many varieties. I don’t think this shop was here before. This place is nice. It’s cheap. They sell clothes starting from around 100 Baht. These over here are 200 Baht each. The material might be a little better. This one is 100 Baht. That’s about 450 yen. That’s cheap. It’s nice that there are so many different kinds. They sell clothes like this, too. The material looks good. There’s such a huge variety of products, it’s great to be able to choose in a cool place. The clothes sold here are beautiful, too. These might be good for spending time on an island. 🏝️ These clothes look perfect for a wonderful vacation. This whole area sells cute clothes. The things they sell have a nice vibe. I feel like the shops have changed since we came a year ago. They have changed. There are more products aimed at tourists than before. So stylish. They really are. Clothes made of linen like this are nice. Why don’t you buy some? I might just do that. Thailand is very humid, so a material like this is breathable and comfortable. Lately, I’ve been checking the material when I buy clothes. Materials like cotton and linen are good. Yes, they are. They keep you cooler. The shop next to this one is a favorite of Nampla-san. It’s a natural stone shop. So beautiful. These are real stones. This one is sparkling. It’s beautiful. It seems that many natural stones are mined in Thailand. Stones from Thailand are sold relatively cheaply. The natural stones are also sold as necklaces. People who visit temples might want to buy some prayer beads. This is stylish. It’s beautiful. This is an ammonite. A real fossil. That’s cheap. 500 Baht, that’s about 2,000 yen. Amazing! It’s sparkling! ✨ It’s shining with various colors. It’s beautiful. Siberian Blue Quartz 💎 Aqua Aura Geode. This stone is from Morocco 🇲🇦. Siberian Blue Quartz 💎 This one! Blue Chalcedony. This appears to be a Thai stone. 🪨 That’s amazing. 👍 This stone is also from Thailand. 🇹🇭 This stone is from Thailand, too! It’s so beautiful! ✨ There’s a coffee shop here, too. ☕️ Thailand is also a coffee bean producing country. It looks like you can buy local Thai coffee beans here! This is so stylish! There’s moss inside a jar. This is a must-have item for people who love moss! This whole space is lovely. The glass is stylish, too! Wow! There’s a whole world inside this jar. Just peeking into this jar seems like it would cheer you up. It says “Aya Terrarium.” I wonder if a person named Aya makes these. The floor above is the food court! I’m getting hungry, shall we go get something to eat? I recommend this food court, it has a great atmosphere. There’s a spot here where you can eat while looking out over the entire Chatuchak Market. That’s right! The view is great! There are all different kinds of food. Nice! They sell a lot of fruit, too. Looks delicious. You can try some Thai fruits here! Yeah. I bought some orange juice from this shop. 🍊 They sell Thai fruit here. Looks delicious! They’re selling durian, too. If you’ve never tried it, this is a good chance to eat durian. This is the durian fruit. It’s a very spiky fruit. And it’s very hard. It’s amazing to imagine a fruit like this growing on a tree. Totally! Everyone should feel free to buy and try fruit at a place like this! In Thai food courts, there’s a card counter, and you can buy a card there before buying your food. 💳 Most food courts in Thailand use this system. You charge money onto the card first, then go buy your food. You get a card like this. And after you’ve ordered your food, you can go back to the counter and get a refund for any money left on the card. Let’s go order some food! This stall says seafood. 🦑🐟🦐 Wow! They have shrimp and crab. 🦐🦀 This is a bar. 🍺 You can order Singha and other beers. Nice! You can drink Thai beer. 🍺 There’s a takoyaki stall here! There’s a Thai dessert shop, too. Looks delicious! I ordered a dish of pork leg and shank simmered in a sweet and savory sauce. 🐖 Looks so good. ✨ The food has arrived! This is a stewed pork dish called Khao Kha Moo. It’s stewed pork leg and shank. It looks incredibly delicious! I’m going to enjoy this delicious meal while looking out at the view of Chatuchak Market. Let’s eat! 🙏 The meat looks so tender! It looked like it was simmered for a long time. Aroi khap! (Delicious! in Thai) It’s a sweet soy sauce-based flavor with a hint of star anise, and it’s delicious! The flavor has really soaked into the pork. ✨ Look at this! It looks so tender. Delicious! Plus, it’s nice and cool in here. Eating delicious food like this in a cool place is the best! 😋 They’re selling decorations like Singha signs. That’s interesting. They sell lights and things, too. I can’t believe they have stuff like this. So interesting. They really sell all sorts of things, don’t they? They’re selling large paintings, too. Wow. It seems like there’s furniture, paintings, and more on the top floor. We’ve come up to the rooftop. The 4th to 6th floors are a parking lot. From here, we could see the entire area around Chatuchak Market. Now we’re going to that shopping mall you can see over there, JJ Mall Chatuchak. Next, we’re going to check out a place called JJ Mall Chatuchak. That’s right. There are a lot of buildings around here. There are bound to be some great finds. Okay, let’s go. This area is the animal section. It is. Lots of animals are for sale. Wow, incredible. There’s plenty to see on the way there. You’ll never get bored. JJ Mall Chatuchak is right after you exit. That’s right. That building is surprisingly big. I bet most people don’t know about it. There are so many shops, you can’t possibly see them all. The next mall we’re going to has a more local Thai atmosphere. When we went before, they were selling things like Thai interior goods. Did they? Let’s take a look inside the shops. The last time we went there was right after the pandemic ended. The atmosphere might have completely changed. That’s true. Let’s go. There are so many birds. This is JJ Mall. It immediately has a local feel. It’s surprising how many products there are. You can look and look, but you’ll never see everything. They have some interesting things, right? This area sells home decor and miscellaneous goods. It’s really interesting. There aren’t many tourists here. That seems to be the case. This is really beautiful. It’s a model of a traditional Thai boat. I wonder if wealthy people have these in their homes. It’s amazing. It might be nice to buy a luxurious-looking souvenir like this to take home. This is incredible. It feels like displaying this at home would bring good luck. So beautiful. This shop is amazing. It’s beautiful. Fabric items like these cushion covers are also beautiful. They really sell everything in Thailand. Incredible. It’s the type of escalator that speeds up in the middle. They sell all sorts of things on this floor, too. This is gorgeous. It says SALE 30% OFF. Is this a clock? It’s so beautiful. There are also shops selling food. There are a lot of clothes, too. It’s a mix of many different genres of shops. There are also many shops selling accessories. There are quite a lot of Thai-style things in this building, aren’t there? There are. Clothes, accessories, many things are traditionally Thai. It feels more local than tourist-oriented. Exactly. There are no tourists at all. But I think it’s an interesting place for tourists, too. You might find different products here than in other places. This is a good place for people looking for authentic Thai items. The items here seem more high-end than what’s sold outside, right? This is interesting. For people who have been to Chatuchak Market many times, I think this place is interesting. You can see different things than at Chatuchak Market. There’s a food court on the upper floor. This might be the least crowded food court in the area. It might be a real hidden gem. Definitely. This is nostalgic! We’ve been here before, haven’t we? It’s been about four years. I think so. There are a lot of nostalgic-looking things. The upper floor sells a lot of retro items. They’re selling some very unusual things. The items sold in this area are very sparkly. Is this a Royal Barge boat? It’s a traditional Thai boat. The model boat on the lower floor might have been a Royal Barge. I think the food court is in that direction. Let’s go that way. (We’re wandering around, a bit lost) So stylish. They’re selling traditional clothing like this. Is this clothing from a hill tribe? They have things like this too. These are hill tribe colors. Yes, they are. Found the food court. So this is the food court. There aren’t many people. You’re right. It has an even more local feel than the last food court. This food court is pretty good too, right? What’s this? It says “Japanese Bakery.” Look at this. There’s a little Japan right here. It’s a very Japanese-looking scene. He’s sniffing his Ya Dom. What’s this shop? This is great for people who like motorcycles. Well, a lot of people ride motorcycles in Thailand. It’s a shop for bikers. So many stylish helmets! I can’t believe there’s a shop like this. There’s also a shop that sells insects. They’re selling a huge number of insects. This is amazing. Japanese people love insects, after all. It looks like they breed them here. They’re selling pill bugs. There are all different kinds of insects. This is a Dorcus hopei. That’s pretty expensive. It’s 8,760 THB. There’s even an insect for 134,772 THB! Incredible. It’s a Sumatran Stag Beetle. So expensive! That’s a very rare insect. There’s a specimen here. It’s huge. It makes a Japanese rhinoceros beetle look small. I think this big one is the Sumatran Stag Beetle. This one over here is a Hercules beetle. It’s huge. I forgot the name of the other one. There are more over here. Wow! This place is a must-see for insect lovers. It’s a Hercules and a Sawtooth beetle. Amazing. If you like insects, you absolutely have to come here. We’re back out at Chatuchak Market. Next, we’re going to Bang Sue Junction. It’s a place that sells vintage clothing and trendy items popular with young Thais. Well then, we’ll see you in the next video. Bye for now!
