Staying at Affordable Japanese Ryokan with Perfect Mt. Fuji view in Kawaguchiko 🗻♨️| Hotel Mifujien
Hello! We’re heading to Lake Kawaguchiko in Yamanashi Prefecture for Mt. Fuji. We will stay 1 night in a hot spring ryokan. All the guest room there have views of Mt. Fuji. For the full trip, you can check out the video at top right corner. We arrive at Lake Kawaguchiko! To get to the ryokan, we hop on the red-line sightseeing bus. The bus awaits at Platform No.1. Then, get off at Ashigawa Onsen Street. It takes around 15 minutes. The hotel is just a few steps away from the bus station. See the bright yellow building over there? We’ve arrived – Hotel Mifujien (ホテル美富士園). The best part is that every room, the restaurant, and the hot spring area – all provide a splendid view of both Mt. Fuji and the lake. And the price is very affordable. Our room is on the 4th floor. Here’s our room. It’s a simple Japanese-style room. 8 Tatami-mat room (13sqm / 140sqf) 1 night stay with 2 meals – 19,800 yen per person per night How is the view outside our window? ♪ So beautiful. The room is equipped with a TV and free Wi-Fi. By the window, we’ve got a small tea table for two, perfect for sipping tea and gazing at Mt. Fuji. Tonight, we will be sleeping on futon beds. The bedding is inside the closet. But we don’t have to make the beds ourselves. The hotel staff will come to our room and set up the futon beds on the tatami floor while we’re enjoying dinner. The wardrobe has towels and Japanese yukata robes. They even provide socks. The nights at Kawaguchiko can still be chilly, so gotta keep the feet warm. Inside the bag, there are toothbrushes and small towels. Large towels and yukata robes The yukata are so bright and cute! You can wear yukata robes around in ryokan. A handy hairdryer There’s a fairly big cabinet on the wall. Well, it’s…a mirror! Lol On the low table, the hotel provides green tea and snacks for us to enjoy. The room is equipped with a fridge. It’s empty, so you can store any cool items you’ve got with you. Outside the tatami room, there’s a foyer, a toilet, and a bathroom. Toilet. A clean toilet with a washlet. Washroom and bathroom are on the other side. The bathroom area is pretty ordinary. But we’re here for the hot springs. We probably won’t need this one. The power sockets here are type A, with 2 straight prongs. Remember to bring an adapter if your plugs don’t match up. The vanity During check-in, the staff will ask about your preferred meal times. The staff will come into your room to prepare futon beds during dinner, and fold up during breakfast. Let’s go for dinner. The restaurant is located on the 5th floor. Wow, it’s a hearty meal! Dinner is a kaiseki multi-course meal. The table is full of dishes. So impressive! Every dish looks incredibly delicious! Steamed Japanese egg custard. It’s like a fluffy cloud of eggy. The meal has 9 dishes, including sashimi, a simmer dish, a grilled dish. We also order plum wine. Cheers! Let’s start our meal! We first started with the cold appetizer – Chicken Nanbanzuke. The fried chicken is marinated in sweet vinegar sauce. Fresh and delightful. The sashimi use 3 kinds of seasonal seafood. The sashimi are so fresh, soft and fatty. It just literally melted in my mouth. So good. Let’s move on to the chicken meatball tofu hot pot. The chicken meatballs becomes so fluffy and flavorful. Oh! It looks simple, but taste surpisingly good! There’re a healthy mix of toufu, healthy veggies, and mushroom. Oh, there’s a chicken wing. The chicken wings are unbelievably soft. They practically fall off the bone. Such a warm and comforting hot pot. Here is the Hoba Miso with Salmon. It smells amazing~~ It must be delicious. Hoba Miso is a regional dish in Takayama area of Japan. Meat and veggies are spreaded with miso paste on hoba (magnolia leaves), and then grilled over a fire. The salmon is full of miso flavor, sweet and savory. And the meat is cooked just well. It pairs perfectly with rice! I love it! Mochi with mushroom sauce This is my first time to try this kind of dish. It’s chewy, like a stewed deep-fried sesame mochi. Miso Soup In cold weather, nothing beats a warm bowl of miso soup. The meal ends with homemade pudding. The pudding is rich and creamy. Topped with tangy mixed berries, refreshing. I like it! A wonderful and blissful dining time. The meal may not look fancy and the ingredients aren’t particularly high-end, the taste is impressive. Thanks for the delicious meal.🙏 After dinner, we returned to our room. The staff had already made the bed for us. Let’s check pillows. It’s soft and comfortable lying down. Time for the firework! Every summer and winter, there’s a fireworks festival at Lake Kawaguchiko. You can see the fireworks along the lakeside. The best spot is, of course, at the fireworks launch site. But in a chilly winter night with only -3°C, we decide to stay in our warm and cozy room. The fireworks lasted for 20 minutes. Amazing! After the beautiful firework, let’s soak in the hot spring. The public bath is located on the 7th floor. We need to change to another elevator at 5th floor to 7th floor. Brrr, it’s freezing out here. Let’s quickly warm up in the hot spring. The bath spring opens from 5AM to 9AM and 3PM to 12AM. Remember to bring your own room towel, because they don’t provide them there. Before entering the public bath, we need to put off the slippers. Phototaking is not allowed inside the bathing area, but we’ve got some official website photos. The public bath has both indoor and outdoor pools. I highly recommend coming to soak in early morning. It’s amazing to soak in the hot spring while enjoying a panoramic view of Mt. Fuji! At night, it’s pitch dark outside😂 Outside the bath area, there’s a resting area with a water cooler. They also have vending machines here. It’s a pity they don’t have bottled fresh milk though. There’s nothing quite like sipping milk after a soothing soak. If you want an ice-cream, you can go to the vendoring machine on 5th floor. After a relaxing soak in the hot spring, it’s time for sleep. Goodnight😴 Good morning!☀️ We are so lucky to wake up to the beautiful view of Mt. Fuji! I’m wide awake! Let’s go have breakfast! At the restaurant, we still score an amazing view of Mt. Fuji. We’re served with traditional Japanese breakfast. Just like dinner, the breakfast comes in many small dishes. The dishes look healthy, refreshing and full of energy! Tofu & Konbu Hot Pot Pickled veggies Onsen tamago The mackerel’s is crispy from grilling. Delicious. The miso soup for breakfast is different from dinner. The breakfast is satisfying and energizing✨ After breakfast, we return to our room. We relax, sip tea, and soak in the view of Mt. Fuji. Mt. Fuji seems a little shy now. Overall, Mifujien is a ideal spot for a budget-friendly trip. The facilities may have a historic vibe compared to neighboring hotels, but you still relish the awe-inspiring views, cozy rooms, delectable meals, and soothing hot springs. As we are staying on the north-eastern shore, a bit of bottom left corner of Mt. Fuji is hidden behind neaarby moutains. If you want a more unobstructed view of Mt. Fuji, you can consider staying at the hotels at northern coast. But the price will be a bit higher. Thank you for watching! See you next time.
I stayed at a traditional japanese inn (ryokan) with beautiful Mt Fuji and Lake Kawaguchiko view in every room and hot spring area in Yamanashi, Japan (山梨県,日本).
The hotel name is “Hotel Mifujien” (ホテル美富士園).
This hotel is more affordable than other hotels at Kawaguchiko, and it has given me a warm and wonderful staying experience.
