While there are plenty of countries that make applying for citizenship easy, there’s a quaint town in Switzerland that will reportedly pay you to live there.

🏡 1. Financial assistance offered by Albinen

* Albinen offers CHF 25,000 (~25,600€, equivalent to ~26,500 USD)** per adult and an additional **CHF 10,000 (~10,200€)** per child, as part of the “Integration through Incentives” program
* For a family of 2 adults and 1 child, the total can reach ~**€60,000**, but the money is granted **after the renovation/construction** is completed and the official registration in Albinen is completed.
* Eligibility requires:

* individuals and children to be under 45 years old,
* involvement in the renovation or construction of a home with a minimum cost of **200,000 CHF (~212,000€)**,
* commitment to live for 10 years** in the village, otherwise the money must be returned
* Swiss permit (citizenship or permanent residence)

Albinen is located at an altitude of 1,350 meters, on a hill in the Dalat Valley. Nearby attractions include Leukerbad, a well-known spa and snow sports resort, which houses one of the best thermal baths in Switzerland, according to the Reiser Reporter. However, not many people want to live in Albinen.

The village has just 241 inhabitants, and to increase the number of residents, authorities have offered a housing and family support program since 2018. This program, among other benefits, provides approximately €26,610 per person, more than €53,000 for couples, and approximately €10,000 per child who decides to move to Albinen.

But there’s some fine print. This money can only be received if the new residents agree to build or renovate a home in Albinen, with one requirement: 70% of the work must be contracted to regional companies or carried out internally. Payment will only be completed once construction is complete and the residency is formalized.
