Annecy est située sur la rive nord du lac du même nom, à environ 40 km au sud de Genève. Le canal Tew traverse la ville, reliant le lac à la rivière Fier, qui forme la limite nord-ouest. Autour d’Annecy se trouvent les monts du Verrier, du Semnoz, du Tornet et du Parmelan.
• Annecy est dominée par un château médiéval perché sur une colline du centre-ville.
