Una Vuelta Por El Vecindario-MONTE HINODE
[Music] It’s really cold. How are my people who shine like the sun? Welcome here to a new dawn in Mount George. My name is Jorge but in Japan they call me JOJI. We’re here at Hinatawada Station, in the Ome neighborhood on the outskirts of Tokyo. And today we are going to climb the surrounding mountains. So come with me. [Music] [Music] By the way, this neighborhood of Ome is where I have been living for more than 2 years, and something that has always given me a problem, which I suppose is something that many people have, is the typical resident’s dilemma. I just made up that phrase. I have no idea if it’s said like that or not, but I’m sure you’ll understand what I mean when I mention it. And the thing is, I have been climbing mountains for more than 8 years, and it always caught my attention to be able to be close to an area that was mountainous, closer to nature, to have a river in front of me. I always lived in the city. It was always surrounded by buildings. Two years ago I felt the desire to finally go to an area that was a little more relaxed. I already felt that I was getting very tired of the city, it was stressing me out a lot, and I wanted something a little more relaxing. And that’s where the dilemma came. What I always wanted, the main objective for which I moved to this area is to be able to walk much more than before in the surrounding area, to be able to have a mountain closer to me, so I wouldn’t have to take 2 or 3 hour trains to to be approaching the furthest mountain possible so I can climb it. No! I am near some mountains and I can finally simply go climb it on a weekend, take two hours and return home peacefully. What’s happening? Two years go by and I never ever felt like walking. And therein lies the dilemma. What I always had within my reach as a tourist, I lived in the city, I went without any problem as a tourist, it took me hours to get there by train, and I enjoyed it peacefully. Now that I live here, I don’t even think about it. I know very well that I have mountains here walking in less than 10 minutes, I already reach a mountain. I have a river in front of me that literally in 5 minutes I’m down there. And never. I believe that in these two years I have never really visited that River. Today is the first day that I finally went down there. And it is normal that in summer there are always many people who go to the river and take a dip. Even a friend of mine who came to visit Japan in the summer, I gave him lodging at my house for a few days, and while I was at work, on a weekday, I returned home at night, around 10 at night, and I see my friend there all relaxed in the room of my house. Quiet there! Oh, it looked like he was on the beach. And where did you go? Oh, for the river that you have down there. Of course! He did come to enjoy the river. I have been living here for more than 2 years and I have never enjoyed it. Wow I literally have to move. That is the dilemma, literally. That’s why today I have to do something. Today is the day. Today I’m going to enjoy the mountains around me, and if it’s possible, at the end of the day, I don’t know. Taking a dip in the river even though it’s the middle of December, the middle of winter at 5 degrees, I’m supposed to do it in the summer but I’ll be able to do it next year. So enjoy. Today is the day! But now, joking aside. This is something I have always wanted to do for a long time. Since I arrived in Japan, I always liked to explore, walk around. I felt safe. I walked daily. I felt like I was walking more than 6 hours a day, that is, I was leaving classes and walking all over Tokyo at once. I didn’t even know where I was going. I walked and walked, and that was something I quite liked. And I want to do the same today. I want to explore these mountains around me without any specific plan. It is true that I want to try to climb mountains that are a little more, require a plan, require several days, require a route that is a little further away, but this neighborhood where I live is surrounded by mountains. So, it is perfect to simply walk, explore the surroundings, and see the best view you can find from high up. [Music] Okay. I have already arrived at the entrance to one of the mountains in the area. As you see written here it says Mount Hinode and Mount Mitake. Mount Mitake was the one I uploaded in the first video on this channel. If you haven’t seen it, give it a look. And, now, the one I will climb will be Mount Hinode, which is the closest. It is true that from this route it is possible that I can reach Mount Mitake, but I think that today will not give me enough time, even if it says 7 km, it will probably take 3 or 4 hours to get to Mount Miatke. But today I want to stay a little closer to my neighborhood, so Mount Hinode is the closest. [Music] [Music] [Music] close ah [Music] [Music] It’s been more than an hour and a half since I started walking. I just arrived at Mount Mimuro which is the intersection from the plum park to Mount Hinode. Taking into account that I stopped several times to take a few shots, a few photos, it took me an hour and a half, but normally, I think it would take an hour or 45 minutes, depending on how fast you go with your steps. For those wondering, the pink ribbon is to indicate the way. It’s not like it’s that complicated. The vast majority of mountains in Japan are quite easy, they are quite close to neighborhoods, and it is quite common for many residents to be climbing them. So you can trust that the vast majority are not that complicated. And it’s quite difficult to get lost. The paths are quite clear. But just in case, especially on days that are a little cloudier, after a storm, it is quite common for several tree roots to be in the ground and such, it is possible that many people get confused, and not only that. , it is also quite common for the elderly, as Japan is a country full of elderly people, it is quite common to see elderly people climbing mountains. And that’s something I really like about Japan because they have that culture of climbing mountains. It’s like being an island surrounded by volcanoes and mountains everywhere, it is normal that many people of all ages are climbing mountains. I couldn’t tell you that it is more than half of the population. But at least I could tell you that a certain percentage of the population does climb mountains frequently, and another large percentage is more per walk, so I believe it is more than half of the population, which is more per walk, for a simple trip between friends and such. And to prevent inexperienced people from getting lost, the pink ribbons are a great indication to make sure they don’t take the wrong path. [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] ha ah [Music] It was worth climbing this mountain. Even though it took me a few hours. The view of the sun is impressive. It’s 1:30pm. Good thing it’s not so cloudy. I give this view 10 out of 10 on the Solar scale. Divinely incandescent. [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] I find it ironic because the name of this Mount Hinode means sunrise in Japanese. And there is nothing more real than after an arduous path of difficulties and suffering, trying to overcome obstacles that always complicate you, that your own health, both physical and mental, is not strong enough to meet that goal, Even if it is very small, achieve that goal that you have set out to finish. Although much of the path is always very dark, to put it in a way that is quite easy to understand, there will always be a new dawn at the end of the path. [Music] [Music]
