3 Places You MUST Visit in Tottori | Journey In Japan Vlog
Today we’re off on another journey
in Japan and this time it’s a bit too far for a Shinkansen ride. We’ve made our way south to Tottori, a land of Detective Conan and deserts. The airport just so happened to be celebrating the anniversary of Detective Conan because the manga artist, Aoyama Gosho, was born in Tottori Prefecture. As you can see, there were lots of fun things to do at the airport during this event. Due to a delay, we had a couple
of hours before our flight left, so we all decided to do some sightseeing. At the Tottori Tourist Center they were extremely helpful. Proving us with maps and suggestions for things to do in the area. And if you’re a stamp collector, they’ve got three* cute designs you can place in your scrapbook. But the real treat was riding
around in the “pink” taxi. If you opt-in for this fun way to travel around the city you’ll have a Tourism Meister as your driver sharing the myths and history of the area as well as taking you to various attractions. And best of all? This 3-hour tour is only 2,000 yen. At Hakuto Shrine you can meet the White Rabbit of Inaba who is the subject of local myth. A myth in which, long story short, a boy helps the rabbit heal after a terrible injury and as a result, marries a princess. Now many people visit the shrine to pray for successful matchmaking. We then paid a visit to the Tottori Sand Museum to see the “Egypt” installation. And collect more stamps. This exhibition displayed various
sand sculptures depicting scenes and motifs related to Egyptian culture. As you can see, it was truly a wonder to behold. And we definitely recommend you make a trip here as they regularly change the themes. And our last stop was to the famous Tottori Sand Dunes. This desert in the middle of Japan looks like it could easily be a scene out of “Indiana Jones” or “Dune”. Without the water, of course. If you take a trip to Tottori, which we definitely recommend, the pink taxi is 100% worth it and will
be a great way to enhance your trip. If you enjoyed getting a peek at things to do in Tottori and want more videos like this then don’t forget to subscribe to the Black Vegan Travels channel.
