モロッコ東部、死を覚悟した砂嵐と最高のおもてなし。
The scenery has changed completely. Hello everyone, this is Asahi. We have just left Oujda in northeastern Morocco and entered the desert. Take a look at the map. Most of the areas in Morocco that are popular with tourists are around here, so there are only locals here. Moreover, bicycle travelers are extremely rare, so this is an area where many people are kind to us every day. So, first of all, please take a look at the drama that happened in the town of Ain Bni Mathar. The car leading the way now. He suddenly spoke to me and invited me to rest at his house today. Thank you. Wow, what a town. Even on my first trip to Morocco (2023), I was really impressed by this atmosphere in the desert. Unforgettable memories, I like this side of Morocco. What a word to use? Exotic. Today is my wedding. Yours? Congratulations. Today? This is the finish. One week. I invited friends and family relatives, and today is the last day. What a surprise. He welcomed us here on the seventh day after his wedding, a busy day for him. We all went to a cafe. Hello! Welcome to Morocco! They are brothers and usually live in Spain, so they speak Spanish, Arabic, and a little English. What impressed me was that when I asked them if they spoke Amazigh (commonly known as Berber) as well, they said they couldn’t speak Berber because there were only Arabs in this town. Looking at the map, it’s true that there are not many Amazighs around here. Dinner, Arroz con leche. Arroz con leche is a classic Spanish dessert. It literally means rice and milk. Add sugar to it and eat. Buen provecho (enjoy). Good. Milk? It’s not milk. This milk is Moroccan style. Instead of regular milk, they use fermented milk called Leben. It ‘s sour and tastes like yogurt. More protein. You can feel the protein. And the acid. Good morning. And the next morning. Thank you so much for the breakfast. Thank you. I hope you are well. It was good to meet you. Thank you. It is 10am on August 24th. Yesterday I stayed in a town called Ain Bni Mathar, and I’m moving to the next town. 108km to Tendrara. With a view like this, I’ll go at least 80km, ideally 108km to the next town. Let’s enjoy today as well. 30 minutes after leaving. A car suddenly stopped in front of me and gave me some water. Soon the weather turned into a sandstorm. I took out my turban and goggles from the back of my bag and dressed up in desert style. The wind was strong and I couldn’t move forward. It’s pretty harsh. It’s taking longer than expected. I may not be able to make it to the town today. As the sandstorm intensified, another car stopped. And after that, another car stopped. Everyone was too kind, even though it was such a sandstorm. Do you need anything? Do you have bread? Yes. Actually, I didn’t think it would be so harsh, so I didn’t buy any food. Tendrara, 78km. Still far away. It’s already 4 o’clock. The speed has been like this all this time. The wind is strong. This speed is almost the same as climbing a hill. Strong wind. However, it’s difficult to run straight because I’m leaning against the crosswind to balance. I felt it was harder than the hill. It took longer than expected, and it’s now 6 o’clock. I haven’t eaten anything since breakfast. I’m glad they bought me food in the town where we started, but I didn’t think it would take so long. I made a mistake. So I’ll eat a little bit of rice, the bread they gave me. Wow. It’s chicken! The best! So delicious! The rice was delicious. While I was eating, the car stopped again and gave me frozen water. It’s the best. Wow. Cold water is delicious. Good morning. I couldn’t reach the town. The headwind was too strong. I camped in an abandoned building I found at the 50km point, trying to avoid the wind. I’m carrying 6L of water, but I only have 2L left. 60km to the town. I will get there no matter what. And yesterday, I broke a spoke while riding, so today I will start by repairing it. Let’s have fun. Just a little bit of work has made so much sand fly. Amazing Sahara Desert. Repair completed, ready to go. Let’s go! Today is the same as yesterday. The speed is like this all the time. 47km to Tendrara. It will take another 6 hours to Tendrara. Anyway, I was hungry at this time. So I asked the construction site worker if there was anything to eat nearby. There was a mini market, but as you can see, they didn’t sell anything that can be eaten immediately, like bread. I really regretted not buying food. At that time, the person I talked to earlier offered me tea. He is Amazigh, and he comes from Ouarzazate, a town about 400km away from here. He said he was working alone in Tendrara. I got bread and tomatoes and my energy was perfectly charged. Now I can do my best until Tendrara. Oh my goodness, it’s raining. There’s a lot of sand on my car, so I want it to be washed off. The wind is so strong , the rain is so strong. Actually, this rain is not that gentle, after this, the strong wind makes it impossible to steer. This is bad, this is bad . Wow, this is really bad. I can barely stand. I guess I should wait a bit, after all. It’s okay. I didn’t understand it properly, but I think he was probably asking if I wanted to take him for a ride. Anyway, I think it’s really amazing that he stopped the car in this sandstorm and cared about me. I want to get to the city today no matter what, so I decided to walk even though the wind is still strong. I can’t believe it, but this is rain. What is this, it’s amazing. It’s 8:30. 10km to Tendrara. I’ll do my best, just a little bit more. I can see the lights of Tendrara. Let me tell you about a slightly unpleasant memory that happened here. In Morocco, the Gendarme, a military police force, is conducting checkpoints at the entrance to the town. This Gendarme was a very kind person. He said that it was already night and dangerous, so I would stay at Tendrara tonight and leave the next morning, and he would provide me with a free place to stay. But when I went to the place the Gendarme told me about, a man called the mayor appeared… 100 dirhams ($10/1500 yen). This place? – Right. No , thank you. I said no, but there is no other place to stay. Camping. – No. No, then I will leave. – No, it’s night. Dangerous. Risk. No, no, I don’t have money. But the Gendarme said it was free. No, it’s not free. Because I’m the head. The chief? The mayor? – That’s right. Okay. It’s not about the amount. I hate the way he restricts my actions and tells me I have no choice but to stay at this inn. Anyway, I decided to leave this person by saying that I was thirsty and wanted to buy a drink first. I don’t know how to put this into words. There’s a different vibe. I don’t mind it costing money. That’s not the point. Thank you for your hard work. While I was drinking juice here, another man spoke to me. He is called Gendarme, but he is not wearing a uniform. He said that he would arrange for me to stay at the inn for free. The mud was like I had put foundation on it. After all, I was able to stay indoors. I took a shower and washed off all the mud and felt refreshed. Good night. Good morning. Today is August 26th, 9am. Yesterday, I ended up staying indoors in an unexpected way. It was a facility like a community center. It was free, but I took a shower and left a tip at the end. Today I’m going to do a little shopping in this town and then travel 70km to the next town, Bouarfa. I think I can get there in one day next time. Let’s enjoy today as well. Will there be a strong wind and sandstorm like yesterday when we leave the town? It’s completely different from yesterday. Today is easy. It’s very fast. The wind is calm. It almost feels like we’re going downhill. This is Bouarfa. There is a couple who gave me water and food in the desert on the way to this town. They run a cafe here . They told me, “When you get to Bouarfa, stop by their house.” I’m going to the cafe now. In Bouarfa, I got permission to camp at the edge of the cafe like this. I was treated to dinner at their house. Thank you. Good morning . He is the owner of the cafe. August 27th, 8am. I met him in the desert. He stopped his car and gave me water and food. He told me to stop by when I got here, and that is this cafe. We were able to meet again. Thank you. I’m really grateful that we were able to camp in a safe place. Let’s have fun today. That’s the end of this video. Thank you for watching. Please subscribe, like and comment. See you in the next video. Goodbye.

自然が壮大な分、天候も厳しいそうですね。でも困っている人に、何の躊躇もなく自分が出来ることをストレートにしてあげる、モロッコの人のやさしさがとても素敵ですね。
