This time we visited the ancient capital, Kamakura. We enjoyed the ever-changing scenery of Kamakura, just like the leisurely Enoden train. I hope you will enjoy the journey with us. We will take a leisurely trip around Kamakura on the Enoden train. We bought a one-day Enoden pass and will enjoy sightseeing to our heart’s content today. The Enoden train runs slowly right next to residential areas. It’s amazing how close the houses and the tracks are to each other. The open feeling of running along the sea is also a unique attraction of the Enoden train. It seems like the scent of the sea is wafting through the window. Now that we’ve arrived at Kamakura Station, let’s head to our first destination. We’ve come to Hokoku-ji Temple. Here you can enjoy a beautiful Japanese garden surrounded by greenery. Hokoku-ji Temple is home to a bamboo forest of about 2,000 trees. I’m excited to see the view I’ve been looking forward to! A magnificent dry landscape garden spreads out in the courtyard. A tower wrapped in a sacred atmosphere. The smell of greenery and a dignified air are floating in this space. It’s a wonderful space where history and nature coexist. The world of the bamboo forest deepens with each step. It’s like being at the entrance to another world. The bamboo shoots peeking out from the foot of the bamboo forest are cute. The beautiful scenery makes you want to take a deep breath. The chirping of birds and the sound of swaying bamboo leaves. The gentle shadows created by the light shining into the bamboo forest. There are soothing elements everywhere. I take a break at the teahouse I was curious about. It’s a luxurious teahouse where you can enjoy matcha while looking at the bamboo forest. I eat sweets made from matcha and wasanbon sugar. The sweets are soft and sweet, and the matcha has a bitter taste. My heart relaxes. The seats are arranged around the bamboo forest, so no matter where you sit you can enjoy a view like you’re in a special seat. I can hear the sound of water flowing from somewhere. It turns out that it’s a tiny waterfall hidden deep in the bamboo forest. It’s a wonderful space that makes me feel enchanted. The soft bamboo scent is the best spice. The refined taste of the matcha is really delicious. I spent a time feeling like my mind was in order. Next, I went to Tsurugaoka Hachimangu Shrine. Tsurugaoka Hachimangu Shrine is a symbol of Kamakura’s history and faith. As the “guardian deity of Kamakura” and the “guardian deity of the samurai,” it was said to have been the spiritual anchor of the people of the Kamakura period. The contrast between the vermilion-painted shrine building and the greenery is beautiful. The temple grounds were crowded with many people, but it was a relaxing space. For lunch, I went to a cafe that was sure to have a line. The interior was lit by warm wood and gentle lights. The nostalgic atmosphere was soothing. The cafe is famous for its fish set meals, so the store also sells souvenirs such as dried fish and fish paste. I’m happy to be able to eat fish dishes again after a long time. I also ordered the signature dish , fluffy egg on rice. Follow the recipe guide to make meringue. Gently crack the egg so that the yolk doesn’t break. All that’s left is to keep stirring the egg whites. I hope it turns out fluffy. The steaming meringue is finally complete! The set meal is brought out, so let’s eat it while it’s still warm. The grilled fish and grated daikon go really well together. Before the meringue bubbles disappear, place it on top of the rice. The yolk is shiny and the egg white is fluffy. It looks so cute that it’s a shame to touch it. The fluffy texture is interesting and delicious. It was a relaxing time with this heartwarming set meal. I want to feel the Shonan sea, so I take a walk to Yuigahama. When you think of Kamakura, it’s this sea. The fluffy white sand and the sparkling blue sea. I’m so excited to see the scenery I’ve always dreamed of! I take a walk with my dog ​​and relax on the beach. My desire to live by the sea is growing stronger. I return to the station and head to my next destination. We head to Kotoku-in Temple, famous for the Great Buddha of Kamakura. The Great Buddha-style admission ticket is cute. The presence of the Great Buddha can be felt even from afar. I am overwhelmed by its size. There are many unknowns about the Great Buddha of Kamakura, such as when it was completed and who made it. It is said to be a mysterious Great Buddha. Who made it and what were their thoughts? All kinds of imaginations run wild. The Great Buddha has a heavy and stately appearance. I felt like I was naturally standing up straight. We head to our last destination, Enoshima. Enoshima is a small island floating on the Shonan coast. We cross the Enoshima Benten Bridge and enter Enoshima. On a clear day, you can see Mt. Fuji from here. I didn’t know Mt. Fuji was so close even in Kanagawa. Nakamise Street is crowded with many people. I am very happy to be able to visit Enoshima Shrine. I want to enjoy the air of Enoshima a little more, so we relax on the beach. Kamakura is a truly wonderful city, with picturesque scenery wherever you walk. It was a memorable trip to Kamakura.
