İSKOÇYA’da Korku Dolu Anlar Yaşadık | 48 Saatte EDİNBURG Gezi Rehberi
[Music] Shall we go into those dungeons and cemeteries down there ? This neighborhood we came to eat. What will happen if we get lynched? We’re telling the truth. This looks like our meat dishes [Music] . Three people here for two nights. Can I get one kilt? kilt for him. They said your knees are very nice. Hair grew here. It’s cheaper than similar places in Turkey. Are you filming this? Friends, greetings to everyone from Edinburgh, the capital of Scotland, as they call it, Edinburgh Edinburgh, we are here for two days , I have Özlem with me, my cousin Gülşah joined from Switzerland, she came from Istanbul, we came from London together by interrail, I have a separate video for her , I will put the link below this video, be sure to watch it, we are here for two days, we will all discover Scotland together for those men, but anyway, here we go on our trip, this is Cockburn Street, one of the most famous streets of Edinburgh , there are very old, very beautiful buildings built in the 1800s , and there are plenty of cafes, boutiques and narrow streets like this that lead to different places, the architecture of this place, in other words, not just of this street, but of the whole city, is quite impressive. [Music] Friends, people are so impressed by this city, with its architecture, I wish the weather was cloudy, the gloom suits it so well. I came here 10 years ago, there has been a change compared to then, it was November, I don’t know, there weren’t such a crowd of tourists, now it’s incredibly crowded, the city down there, Victoria Street, is one of the most popular streets here, it’s a winding street, and above it, you go up to the hills from the streets, you go down from the press, etc. and down on Victoria Street, there are both shops and cafes, the girls are waiting for me here, let me ask you your first impressions, özlem, you came early in the morning, how did you find the city, its energy is great, isn’t it Gülşah, what did you think? It’s like a fairy tale. we just arrived, where are the things we will see, let’s take a look from here, can you look at the city, colorful things, gloomy buildings on the buildings, it’s really [Music] beautiful, when I came here in 2015, it was November, I don’t know if that ‘s why there were never such tourist crowds at that time, there were almost no people, in fact everywhere is very crowded now, but of course back then, this is also due to the bad effects of Instagram, these places weren’t shared that much on Instagram anyway, since Instagram came out, the places I’ve been to have changed a lot every 10 or 15 years, they’ve become very touristic, yes, that’s my job, I share on Instagram, I encourage people to travel, but on the other hand, I guess it’s bad, I do n’t like it when there are so many tourists, it doesn’t change the beauty of these places [Music] Now we’ve come to Grossmarket, which is on the continuation of Victoria Street, there are plenty of cafes and restaurants here, young people, should we sit and have a drink or make a plan, we don’t know what to do in the city, we’re just walking right now, while having a drink, at least we can decide, it’s a crowded local place, crowded local we found a place how did you like it I guess depending on where you sit should we sit outside or inside is it colder okay let’s sit here then [Music] we sat and enjoyed ourselves in the place now we decided to take a walk it was so enjoyable walking on the streets just last spring where the locals were as if they were all Scottish yes a sunny corner a sunny corner by the way we are cold I mean London was quite hot here although it is sunny the weather is very cool I mean it is cool here right now in winter the sun is very little but in these months around 9, 9:30 even towards 10 o’clock we are in May right now it only gets dark [Music] the weather is getting darker. Edinburgh has an interesting structure, for example, when you look here, it looks like an ordinary street, but this is a bridge, the 4th George Bridge, now when you look, you can see it from here, you can understand, another road passes below us, by the way, there are fire departments, I don’t know if there was a fire, let’s take a quick look at the other side, look, here is a normal street view and we turn the camera, there is another street here [Applause] [Music] While walking on the streets, let me give you some information about these places, as you know, Scotland is a country affiliated with the United Kingdom, we call this country for some reason. We generally say England but its official name is United Kingdom, Edinburgh is the capital of this place. Scotland’s population is 5.5 million. Did you know that? Yes. Wow, where do you know that from, did you research it? Let’s get an estimate of the population of Edinburgh. Three million. No, only 500,000 people. Are you serious? Exactly, they live in Edinburgh. I did a good job researching it. the biggest city in the country is Glasgow this is the first metropolitan city and [Music] [Applause] the capital here for example we are walking on the street there is one door oh look what’s inside when we entered we saw a courtyard like this it is very mystical this is a theology school I think the girls are cold now because the weather is so cold but I don’t normally get cold I act artsy and walk around in my t-shirts today it’s very windy nothing happens I’m cold too the wind is blowing we decided to go to a restaurant there was a local restaurant I used to go to when I came 10 years ago we go there it’s about 2 km away but we called Uber we use the taxi app here it costs I think 5.90 pounds it’s pretty good actually it came for these places our vehicle turned when I was about to turn left Sabri came to my mind lets get in right away [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] we came to the restaurant its name is The Golf Tavern. It gets its name from the golf course behind me but it is a very old restaurant it has been in service since 1456 I will show you right away our restaurant this historic stone building with red shutters the building is really beautiful traditional restaurants in Scotland are called taven now let’s take a look inside friends who played golf just now come here they are good people young people inside the restaurant our girls got a nice table right away how did you like this place we warmed up didn’t we it is all local it is a local place all local people look left and right there is a table where games are played here there are not many tourists here either since it is not in the city center my friends you learned the most famous dish of Scotland what is it haggins this is a dish made from intestines like our kokoreç when I came last time I said we are Turks we can eat it and ordered it but I couldn’t finish you eat it you eat it too there is no need for you but Gülşah and I will try it. Now while ordering at the restaurant I was curious and asked this place you see it is such a huge golf course and it is completely free you know golf is known as a rich sport but it is free for those here it is not a restaurant that has been around since 1459 it is actually a golf course and this restaurant probably opened in the 1700s to serve golfers and you can rent a golf set while eating at the restaurant it is normally 5 pounds if you just want a golf set if you want it it is 10 pounds if you want a drink with it I think it is very nice and enjoyable there are a lot of young people playing here now their numbers decreased when the weather got cooler but there were more when we first came let me show you the bar the staff are also very sweet what’s your name orçun nice to meet you they are very helpful for example when we order he says that say small you like it big etc. really Scottish people are like that Mediterranean people smiling and warm hearted. I thought the same thing when I came last time . They are all really helpful. They answer whatever we ask with a smile. Our food has arrived. First of all, everyone should take a photo. I already took one a moment ago, didn’t I? But the wrong Haggins… Did the kid say Haggins? Hagins Haggins. We said wrong Huggisi, the one I ate 10 years ago wasn’t like this, it was a mixture of lamb and intestines, we ordered something like this, mussels and New Yoki, the prices are 7.5 pounds, this is 7.5 pounds, this is 15 pounds, a large beer is 6.5 pounds, Glasgow beer is this, it’s not from here, it’s an English beer, 6.5 and the wine is also 6.95 pounds, they try Gulsah Haggins, it’s not from here, you’ll probably like it, it’s pretty good, by the way, come on, let me get a fork right away, I’m trying it too, I’m really curious, it’s good , but it resembles our meat dishes, this one isn’t like intestines, which is something else, look, we should definitely try it, but [Music] I liked it, now we’ve come to the city center, it’s more mystical, I liked it even more when I came before We went to a very nice bar here with passages like this now we are going there again [Music] [Music] As you know Scotland is the country of whisky so of course I ordered whisky sour which I love very much. The girls also ordered cocktails Tequila thinking I was in Mexico Tequila and wine totaled 30 pounds so on average we can say 10 pounds each which is cheaper compared to similar places in Turkey interestingly enough and their income is very sad in comparison to ours [Music] Good morning friends this is our hotel in Edinburgh it is in a very central location. three people here for two nights… you will come like this you will come like this we paid 16,000 TL for two nights here actually we paid 17,000 because we paid 1,000 TL more for a bigger room but it is really in a central location if you come here I would definitely recommend it I had shot inside the hotel yesterday before we distributed it I will add the continuation of this video the link of the hotel is in the link under the video even if you don’t stay at this hotel you can find a hotel in this area our room is like this it is very large a room for 6 people özlem and Gülşah Gülşah tries to play our piano and let me show you the view would you look we have a view overlooking a complete Scottish street there are two beautiful cafes near the hotel Gülşah loved it she said it was local what is its name let’s find out the inside is very cute what is this Gülşah this thing Norwegian Swedish things are these yes but no how much does it cost? 4 pounds. Oh it’s not a little bit, eat it, bon appetit, we forced them to eat it, is it good, my friends? The name of the area we’re staying in is New Town . I guess we can call it a new city, right? I mean, they called this area New Town, which was built after the 1750s . Old Town, those are the places we walked around yesterday. There are buildings and such from the 1600s. There are also structures like this. Look, look at the beauty of this street. God, isn’t this weather nice here, considering the sun, I think this suits it better. It really suits it, doesn’t it? Let’s continue walking to the breakfast place. [Music] This is San Andrews Square. There is such a huge statue and people are enjoying their coffee here, working. This is Hannover Street, right across from Old Town, is one of the liveliest streets in the city . There is a statue of the former King George IV of England right there, and our breakfast place is in the building right across. All Bar One. When I came here 10 years ago we came here and it was very popular back then I don’t know if it’s still the same now we’ll see [Music] Let’s see, our orders have arrived there is also a campaign here if we order two breakfasts every day until 12 o’clock it’s 17 pounds normally it’s like 9.5-10 the others are 11-12. independent of the price, which I think is reasonable for a country like this again, there is a campaign we are also taking advantage of that campaign coffees are 3.25 pounds which is 150-160 liras is it equivalent to Turkey coffee prices are equivalent to breakfast prices are the same in Istanbul you know better of course of course I mean it’s almost equivalent isn’t it Gülşah’s ours are not equivalent in Turkey even more. Let’s get lynched, what will happen? We are telling the truth. I will show you the classic Gülşen breakfast. Hello friends, while trying to choose a traditional breakfast, I was the one who chose the fattiest and most caloric plate of the menu. What’s there? Haggis is a strange thing made from intestines, look, it’s made into a meatball-like shape, there are also beans, but it’s interesting. It’s something we generally see in English breakfasts. It’s sausage, egg, bacon, haggins. Try it. It’s really good. We sat in the place for a long time, but it got quite crowded at that time. By the way, this place is also a popular bar in the evenings. Keep in mind that the weather was cloudy in the morning, now the sun has come out, look, it’s really nice here. Princess Street separates the Old Town from the New Town, and there are many stores, from H&M to other international brands. We are currently walking to Calton Hill. It’s a beautiful spot where you can watch the city from a bird’s eye view. Now, while walking, let me give you information about the people of this place. Although the majority of the population in London is immigrant, the vast majority here, probably 85%, are Scots. The official languages of the country are English, Scottish, and Scottish Celtic but also big The majority of the native language is English unfortunately the rate of those who speak their own language is very very low only 30-35% of the population can speak Scotland and Scottish Gaelic of course as a result of being part of the United Kingdom since the 1700s there is a series called Outlander on these digital platforms it takes place in the 1700s of Scotland then they travel back in time to the 1940s etc. after watching this series young Scottish people started to be interested in their own history, language and culture again we are in the heart of the city right now we probably walked for 5 or 10 minutes here but this castle and the view gives us the feeling as if we were in the countryside of Scotland I felt the same way when I came back 10 years ago [Music] when we went up to the castle on the hill such a view welcomes us there is the Old Town on this side and the New Town on this side and even further on the sea was visible because I remember when I came before can you check it out friends I am also making my classic reminder if you have liked this video while watching it so far please press the like button below the video I would be very happy if you subscribed to my channel. It would also motivate me to make new videos. Apart from this, if you check out my channel, there are also completely different videos. For example, I have a very recent London video that I shot before this video. Since I will upload it before this one, I will leave the link in the descriptions under the video. By browsing my channel, you can see videos from many places from Greece to Kyrgyzstan or Norway. We were sitting on a bench enjoying ourselves while watching the view with the sun on us. We noticed something. Let’s see if you compare it to what we compare it to. Look how beautiful it is. Pay attention to the structure right across from the historical architecture. We compared it to an emoji. I won’t say what it has to do with it. Let those who compare it write its name, but please write it censored. The back of the hill of Caltın was even more enjoyable. Our girls lay down right here. Do you get energy from the grass? Let me show you like this. It is also interesting that the buildings seen across are in the New Town area. Even the place they call niv is quite old. [Music] The one on the back of Carlton Hill that is seen across The name of that hill is Arthur’s Seat. It’s a hill 250 meters above sea level . People usually go there for the sunset. We ‘ll go to a restaurant near it in a minute . [Music] Friends, can you look at the beauty of this neighbourhood we came to eat. I mean, these houses. The sounds of the birds. Of course, you can’t smell it right now , but the smell of the flowers. I was incredibly happy. For example, some of these houses were council houses and they were given to the elderly free of charge. It’s very interesting. I mean, in such a beautiful place. This is right next to Arthur Seat. One of our Uber drivers was Scottish. He suggested this place when we were looking for restaurant recommendations. This place is about 10 minutes from the city, but it is an incredibly beautiful place. The name of the village is called a village. By the way, I say neighbourhood, but it’s Duddingston village. We paid almost 9 pounds with Uber anyway. It’s not too much anyway, when there are 3 of us, it’s very cheap, but after eating, we will definitely wander the streets here. If you happen to be in Edinburgh, you should definitely come here. The name of the restaurant is Sheep Heid Inn. It has been in service since 1360. It is said to be the oldest restaurant in Scotland. The interior of the restaurant is like this. If what our taxi driver says is true, Queen Elizabeth used to come here to eat before she passed away. Our girls found a nice spot in the garden. Look, the garden is also quite pleasant. We are really lucky with the weather. The restaurant also has a 600-year-old bowling alley . Can you see? I didn’t even know bowling was 600 years old. Are you ready? [Music] My mother, this is nothing. Oh, it’s nice, but there is one thing. Since it is 600 years old, we have to put these back ourselves after knocking them down. We also send the balls back. Of course, there was no such system 600 years ago, but Özlem took care of it quickly. Our taxi driver had said this was a local restaurant, but it turns out it was quite touristic, there are always American tourists. anyway I placed my order I ordered another Scottish beer it was 7 pounds this and I also said jumbo shrimps like this oh there was hair here is it my hair or your hair okay anyway I’m not disgusted at all by the way I don’t know how people enjoy themselves when there is hair this is around 9 pounds since this is touristic the prices are a bit higher but it’s very enjoyable right next to the restaurant in the village there was a path like this going down to a place we continued from there we came across a lake like this isn’t it incredibly beautiful it’s so peaceful look at that they’ve preserved the natural environment so well there are young people up there for example they are having fun they greeted us do you know what’s good about it they left it in its natural state they didn’t say let’s pour a concrete road here or let’s pave stones and do landscaping they left it as it is it ‘s really enjoyable [Music] we came to the extremely beautiful building the Royal Bank of Scotland I mean the Royal Bank of Scotland and a very interesting person welcomed us here as you can see he looks very similar to a Scot in a Scottish kilt but he is a Turk Mr. Muzaffer. How are you? Thanks, we’re fine , I should ask you, we liked it, I mean Scotland is beautiful, I came 10 years ago, I love it, but I hadn’t been here, the bank is very beautiful, the ceiling etc. This is one of the main buildings of the Royal Bank, built years ago, the part you’re in now is 200 years old, the front is 170 years old, it has a completely house concept, it’s Georgian, this is Victorian, but as you can see, this is a special place built for the bank, now I’m asking because I’m curious, how did you become the ambassador of the bank here, as a Turk, you were already working at this bank, then I’ve been working for 30 years, someone with a kilt like this was needed 10 years ago, people were supposed to welcome, were they just tourists or everyone? Tourists are coming all the time tourists are coming our customers are coming okay now let’s come to this there was someone who had to wear this and that and that was it I have been working in the front for years they said your series are very good let’s see your series Muzaffer Bey has a special costume look as you can see he has a pocket knife and a pin this pin for example so that his pocket knife does not fly away from the wind when it is visible if it does not look good it means he is my enemy if it is visible it means he is my friend of course we also carry the keys of the bank here okay for example did the king and queen ever come here King Charles of course I hosted him here it was 1996 I think when he was a prince at that time this vault has a special feature during the time of Adolf Hitler the main British bank brought and put all their belongings and jewelry here because Germany is very close to London and it is constantly bombed so it is hidden it is quite strong and secure at that time even 15 truck drivers did not know what they were carrying they brought them all here gold jewelry all the money is all hidden here let’s open up to the war vita why are there so many doors here oh another door my God are you pulling this now There is a situation like this here, this was a bank before. Is this a safe? What is this bank? The check room? They all have separate locks, don’t they? Both doors have separate locks. Open this and let’s see. Of course, we have converted this house into a bank. The incident goes down to this safe. The first safe is interesting. We rested for half an hour or 45 minutes at the hotel and came back to the center. This is Princess Street Gardens, an incredibly beautiful park right between the Old Town and the New Town. It’s currently covered in fog. It’s even more enjoyable. Let’s walk around together. [Music] When we saw this tree, we felt like hugging Gülşah and I. Let’s feel the nature, my friends. We are currently walking to Edinburgh Castle. Speaking of Edinburgh, I will give you another piece of information. Normally, we read it as Edinburgh, but the Scots call it Edinburgh. It’s actually between o and a. They call it something like Edinbıraoğlu. It’s like between o and a. They call it the name of their own city. Even the British call it that. [Music] Keep in mind that I will give you another interesting piece of information about Edinburgh. Edinburgh was surrounded by walls in the 1500s at that time. When there was a lack of space, they built high-rise buildings inside the city walls. In the 1500s, there were 10-storey and 14-storey buildings, which are the ancestors of modern skyscrapers. buildings can be considered these are not that high I think they are 8-9 storeys but there are also 10-14 storeys buildings built in the 1500s here we came to High Street to eat at Old Tam [Music] High Street is the most popular street here it extends to the castle when I came 10 years ago there was traffic flowing here now they have pedestrianised it we saw a restaurant like this we liked it it was not because we got a recommendation or anything this restaurant you see behind me its name is Copper Still our girls have taken the best corner of the restaurant look there is a part of it facing the street my order came here I ordered fish&chips this is actually a famous dish of the English but it is also popular in Scotland its price is 19.5 pounds I also ordered a local one this one was probably around 5.95 I don’t remember exactly but it is good I will taste this now by the way I drink a lot of alcohol on such trips actually I almost never drink in Izmir but the devil has taken it it gives me pleasure on trips the look is very nice let’s see if the taste is the same h it is very nice they put peas on the side This is nice I will squeeze the lemon too then I want to comment a little more about my very enjoyable meal because I really liked it the fish is crispy on the outside it did not dry at all it was very nice the potatoes were also very tasty I was very satisfied so I thought I would share something extra with you I think you can come here and visit this restaurant girls are you satisfied with what you ate it was delicious we were hungry but it was really tasty I also liked the ambiance and there are also locals behind us for example there are many people speaking English with the accent of here now there are horror tours in Edinburgh but we missed them and unfortunately we have been coy for two days we have been making our own tour saying it is less scary should we make our own tour friends should we go into the dungeons and cemeteries below we won’t have paid 20 pounds let’s try you can find let’s try we will find a cemetery or something now we will go into a pub here with live music like this then I think I saw backstreets at night it could be quite scary this is a pub I used to go to on Victoria Street 10 years ago I came with my Scottish friends there is live music like this let’s see how it is now [Music] we are going to the cemetery right now but Özlem He claims we won’t be afraid. Is there a party here? We turned to the party out of fear. Let’s see right away. I think there is a club here. Young people are lined up. But what about during the week? I don’t understand. Let’s go back to the same thing. Ozlem. By the way, we shot a horror movie with Orçun in our time . Haaa. He said in our time, 20 years ago. We shot a short movie 20 years ago. We shot a horror movie at home. Yes, look, he has a YouTube account. We can add it to that if necessary. No, I don’t think we should add it at all. at home it’s so amateur that for the first time in my life I’m going to the cemetery at night too repent oh my God I hope nothing like that happens repent oh my God you protect us [Music] you weren’t afraid yes we are in the cemetery let’s recite Fatiha for their souls oh my God forgive these people if they have sins we don’t know who they are old [Music] When we got out of harm’s way we came across such a team I don’t know if they are a wedding team and today is only Tuesday, it’s not even a weekend there is another team here too the night life is very active on Tuesday we just chatted with this team we became friends it was their graduation ceremony we will join them for a while friends we left the cemetery we were returning to the hotel when we came across such young people our evening suddenly changed but I really want to say something about the Scots I thought the same when I came before 10 years ago they have a Mediterranean spirit yes their country is in the north but they are very friendly and warm don’t you think so they really are so very much aren’t they [Music] swear to god friends Good morning, we have come to the end of another trip. Edinburgh is a very beautiful and impressive city with its architecture and people. Now we will have breakfast at this cafe and go to the train station. If you liked this video, I would be very happy if you press the like button. You can also take a look at my Interrail video for the rest of our trip. We will go to the rural areas of Scotland. Our girls are already inside in the video. Don’t forget to read the description under the video for details of the venue names, hotels etc. I would be very happy if you subscribe to my channel.
