ULTIMATE Vietnamese Street Food Tour in Hoi An, Vietnam 🇻🇳 Most UNDERRATED Food City in Vietnam?

Ooh, ah… Ooh, very hot. Oh. Ready? Woo! What’s up everyone I’m Chris. We got Steph behind the camera, and we are
here in the beautiful city of Hoi An. With its charming ancient town
and delicious and unique cuisine, this is a can’t miss spot for anyone
visiting Central Vietnam. We are super stoked to be here today and
explore the city, and try all of its food. So, let’s get eating! Come on. We’re starting our day off here
at this iconic restaurant for some very unique dumplings that are native to Hoi an,
and they’re only made here at this restaurant. This is going to be super, super special. How are you? Very good. Phong? Good, yeah. Nice to meet you. Chris and Stephanie. Hi, nice to meet you. Yeah. My grandmother’s father. Oh, wow. Mother, and me. Ah, your mother. Three generations. Three generation restaurant, wow. Fourth generation. Fourth generation now? Oh, wow. So this is a fourth generation restaurant
that has been here for many, many years
that make these iconic, iconic dumplings. Ooh, let’s go see what’s going on in here. Thank you. Wow. So, here is the dumpling factory. Oh my gosh, look at all of the workers. Hello. Family. Thank you. Wow. My family. Family! Oh, so all of them are family here making all these dumplings,
which has been around for over 100 years. We just learned from the owner here. And, just look at all of these dumplings. Handmade to perfection. This is made of rice flour. Rice flour. Shrimp? Shrimp paste. Shrimp paste. My father. He is 64 years old now. Oh, wow. And he made it from very young. Very young. So, he made them for more than… Fifty years. Fifty years making the rose dumplings. Wow. Look like rose. Yes. Here at White Rose Dumpling, they actually make two different types
of dumplings here. The Bánh Bao, which is the white rose
dumpling made up of a shrimp paste that’s made with shrimp, garlic,
lemongrass, pepper and onions. As well as Bánh Vạc,
which is the vegetable dumpling. So, two different dumplings, all handmade. So cool. Hey, hey you, I steam. Ah, steaming,. Come. Yeah. Steam. Hello. Hello, hello. Steam. Steaming. The rose dumplings have been
put into the steamer now, and they only take five minutes to cook. So it’s super, super quick. You can see how much of an operation
this is here at White Rose Dumpling. They are making a ton of dumplings because the recipes actually
a family secret which no one else knows. So, it sticks within the family. And for that reason,
they supply the whole entire city of Hoi An with these white rose dumplings. So… it’s so special. Oh, wow. Ooh, ah… It’s hot! Ooh, very hot. Bánh Vạc. Yeah. Ah, the Bánh Bao. Bánh Bao. We have our beautiful plate of dumplings
here. Now, one order comes with the rose dumplings
as well as the vegetable dumplings. Look how beautiful these dumplings are. just made so fresh. They have a sprinkling of, it looks like fried shallots there, too. And we have a special sauce
that we’re supposed to eat our dumplings here with, which is made of lemon, sugar,
chilies and Shrimp broth. Oh, wow. That smell is very,
very strong smell of chilies. But, okay. Oh, wow. These are so delicate. You can see there. Wow. Straight out of the steamer. They’re so soft. Let’s dip it in our sauce here. First bite of the day. Ooh, can’t wait. Mmm. That rice flour
is, like, melt in your mouth. Soft. Wow. That dumpling skin is so fresh
and like, not chewy at all whatsoever.
That shrimp paste is so flavourful. A big taste of lemongrass and garlic
that’s mixed inside with the shrimp. And the addition of the fried shallots
really give it a nice, crispy, crunchy flavour,
along with a really oniony flavour as well. Just so soft. Straight out of the steamer. Mmm. Ooh, that special sauce. So tasty. Such a nice shrimp flavour. Next up,
I want to try that Bánh Vạc here. Which are these lovely vegetable dumplings. You can see there. So fresh, again. Ooh… And look at that homemade sauce. That sauce, too, again, is slightly spicy,
but more sweet than anything. Mmm. Ooh… wow. They’re absolutely… filled. Packed to the brim. Wow. Bean sprouts, carrots. Ah, it looks like there’s green
onion in there. And I definitely taste
the mushrooms in there. Ooh, they are exploding with flavour. And again, just so fresh. This special sauce, the dipping sauce. Mmm. Definitely makes… the dumplings. These white rose dumplings are so yummy. And, what actually makes them really special
is that they’re made with the water from the Bale Well,
which is a very ancient well here in Hoi An,
which is still running to this day. So, people say that you cannot get
the flavour of these dumplings anywhere else in the world
because they use that water from that well. So, it’s just such a special experience,
and it’s so nice to come to this beautiful restaurant here
where they’re making them fresh, because, I mean,
you can get them all around the city, but if you come to the source,
you get them made the freshest, which means
they’re going to taste the best. And oh, man, these are incredible. Mmm. Delicious. Delicious. So good. So delicious. Thank you. Ooh, so good. The White Rose family, everyone is so kind and generous,
and so hospitable. They’ve treated us like family here
since we walked through the doors. And they gave us another dish to try. And actually, here
at White Rose Restaurant, they only specialize in two dishes,
so only two dishes on the menu. So we have the white rose dumplings, as well as these fried wontons,
what they call a “Hoi An pizza”. So, look at this. These are huge. Looks like a crispy wonton shell
that is packed with shrimp. Vegetables. It looks like tomatoes, peppers, fungus. Wow, these look amazing. Ooh. Smells incredible. Really garlicky. Wow. Really garlic smelling. And… ooh. Look at these. Wow. So unique. I’ve never seen this before. Wontons are a specialty
here in Hoi An as well. But, these look incredible. Okay… let’s do this. Mmm. I love how crispy that is. The flavours of this fried
wonton are incredible. You can see there, the sauce is almost
like a sweet and sour sauce. We have onions and pineapple
as well It’s almost like a sweet and sour shrimp on top of a crispy wonton shell. Pizza slice, actually. This is amazing. Mmm. So delicate as well. I’m pretty sure
there is a piece of like, a shrimp paste that is the shrimp on top of the rose
dumplings, inside the wonton chip there. Mmm. And so crispy. I want to say a huge
thank you, thank you to Phong here, who is the fourth generation
owner of the White Rose Restaurant here. And behind me
you can see his grandfather and his, great grandfather, sorry,
and his father. So much tradition. Thank you. Delicious.
The dumplings are delicious. Thank you. Hoi An, located on Vietnam’s Central Coast,
is like a storybook town frozen in time. Once a thriving trading port
from the 15th to 19th century, the ancient town blends wooden shop
houses, Chinese temples and French colonial charm
into one magical place. The Japanese covered bridge, built in the 1700s, still stands
proud over quiet canals. Untouched by the rush of modern development. The Old Town offers a rare, beautifully
preserved glimpse into a 17th century far Eastern trading hub, a must visit
when travelling through Vietnam. All right, up next,
right here on the side of the road. We have another Hoi An specialty. Marinated grilled pork skewers. Hello. Hello. Here we have our Bánh Ướt Thịt Nướng, which is our marinated
grilled pork skewers. And you can see it comes
with a bunch of cool stuff as well. We have dry
rice paper rolls as well as wet ones. And the name of the dish
actually translates to wet cakes. We have a bunch of veggies. It looks like a peanutty sauce here as well. So, what we’ve been told and what we’ve seen
people do behind us here, is take our dry rice paper roll
and stick it onto our wet one here. And it lifts up like that. Ooh, look at that. So cool. And then we load it up with veggies. So we got some cucumber here. Some fresh lettuce. I love everything in Vietnam here. It always comes with such fresh veggies,
the cucumber, the lettuce. Ooh, and it just adds such a nice crunch to it. Now, we have our Thịt Nướng,
which is our grilled pork here. Marinated and grilled on charcoal
over there to perfection. Let’s take our paper roll. I think… We roll it up. Ooh. Ooh, look at that. Look at that pork in there. The fresh veggies,
and both types of rice paper roll. Okay, let’s take our sauce here. Give her a nice dip. Ooh, that sauce is so thick. Wow. All right, here we go. Mmm. Oh, that pork… Unbelievably flavourful. You can really taste the flavour
of the grill off of these pork sewers, but. Oh, man. It has such a nice flavour of lemongrass, five spice, and honey. It’s pretty sweet, the pork. But, this peanut sauce
is actually really spicy. Mmm. With the fresh veggies. Mmm. It’s so cool
how the meat is just stuck on the skewer. Almost in between the wooden stick here,
and just grilled up to perfection. Let’s have a taste of it on its own. Mmm. Just so juicy and tender. That perfect grilled pork flavour. Ooh… Love grilled pork. Let’s make another one All right. Dry rice, paper roll. Sticking it onto our wet one. I love… The making of these wet cakes here. Some veggies here as well. SO fresh. And course, our delicious, grilled pork. There’s nothing like making
your own meal here. Ooh, okay. I’m gonna eat that later. And of course, our spicy peanut sauce. I love dishes like this that are do it yourself. It just makes the experience so,
so much more fun. And especially here, right on the street,
they’re grilling it up behind me. And look how busy it is. Oh, man,
it doesn’t get much better than this. This is Vietnamese street
food at its finest. So yummy. Mmm. With the fresh veggies,
it’s like a grilled pork salad. And… I can’t forget about my little meat
that I left behind. So, so incredible. Thank you. Thank you so much. Delicious. So delicious. Thank you. Wow, what a setup they have here. Right on the side of the road. I love grilled pork skewers.
Ooh, so good. Let’s keep exploring. Walking around the whole town of Hoi An
is honestly just so quaint and beautiful. You can see how much history is
in this town. I mean, some of the buildings here have been around for hundreds of years,
and you can just really feel that the city hasn’t really changed
so much in all that time. And so it’s kind of like
stepping back in time. It’s just, honestly so cool. Next, we’re going for the most traditional and well-known
dish here in Hoi An. Cao Lầu This is for Cao Lầu? Yes, Cao Lầu. The meat for Cao Lầu. Ah, the pork. Yeah, the pork. Cao Lầu sauce. Yeah. Here we have our… Delicious smelling bowl of Cao Lầu. Now, this is the quintessential Hoi An
dish that you have to have when you come to the city. And it’s quite interesting because
it’s different than other Vietnamese dishes. It has a bit of Japanese flair
to it from the noodles, which are quite udon like, as well as the pork here, you can see,
which is marinated in like a five spice powder, so it gives it
a bit of like a Chinese flair. But… oh my gosh. Okay, let’s just go through everything
we have in this hefty, hefty bowl. Ooh, this looks so good. So, we’ve got some really nice crispy
fried wontons on the top here. Huge… Ooh, pieces of pork. Look at that nice bit of fat there. We’ve got a bunch of greens. We’ve got lettuce and some herbs. And just look at the star of the show here. These noodles. They’re so… Ooh, look at those
beansprouts at the bottom too. They’re so chubby and fat,
and such an interesting looking texture. Just look at that. And at the bottom
we’ve got that nice gravy there. Ooh, look at that. Just so rich. All right, let’s mix all this up together. So packed with the noodles,
the veggies, the meat. Oh my gosh. Ooh, these noodles are so chubby. Just look at that. I love a good chubby noodle. Mmm. Mmm. Such a nice texture to those noodles.
Mmm. Those noodles are a little bit chewy,
but they have a springiness to them as well that just makes them,
I don’t know, extremely unique. And I love the texture of them
on the outside, actually. It’s kind of like… you can tell
they’ve really been handmade. Mmm. So good. And the flavor of that Cao Lầu
gravy kind of sauce, it’s so unique. It is very un-Vietnamese in a way. It does have that taste
of the five spice powder. And it’s quite rich too. But I love the texture with the vegetables
as well. Mmm. Adds a nice crunchy freshness to it. Ooh. Speaking of crunchy. Look at these guys. Mmm. Okay. Those are super tasty. I love a good crunch
with my meal, I have to say, mmm. Ooh, so good, and that pork. Is really quite tender,
and again, has a nice taste of that five spice
because it’s been marinating in it. The noodles
and the broth are just so fragrant and flavourful, and the noodles
don’t stick together at all. What makes these Cao Lầu noodles so special is that they’re actually soaked
in the mineral rich water from the Bale Well, that ancient well, as well as ashes
from trees from the Cham islands. So, it gives them a really interesting
texture and colour that is so unique. And it also means
that you actually can’t have Cao Lầu and these noodles made in this traditional, original way anywhere outside of Hoi An,
you can still get Cao Lầu, but it will not taste the same
as it does here in Hoi An, which is why this is a dish you have to have
when you’re visiting the city. Mmm. With Cao Lầu originating here in Hoi An, you can actually find it
at so many different places. A lot of restaurants have it. But honestly, we think the best place to have
it is on the street from the local places. This lady here, she’s so sweet and kind,
and was actually telling us that she even makes her own
chili paste here. Look at that. Which she says… Oh… Oh, wow, that’s really interesting. Almost has, like, a Korean gochujang
kind of a scent to it. Oh, that smells really good. And just. And just… Oh, wow. Look at that. Wow. Oh, man, that looks so good. So, I’m going to put I think like a decent amount
because she said it wasn’t too, too spicy, but just like spicy enough. So, let’s get a bit on here. And mix that in. Ooh, look how red that is. Ooh… love the colour of that. And I just love
also how fresh Cao Lầu tastes. Because they give you so many greens
as well as the bean sprouts too. Just gives it such a freshness. Oh. All right. Let’s get a nice big spicy looking bite there. Woo. Okay, definitely spicy Ooh. it’s like a sweet, spicy,
which is actually super delicious. And makes it very unique and interesting. But, like… I feel like my eyes are watering. But that’s like the dangerous type of spicy
tasting that like,
I feel like you could eat so much of it. But, it just might hurt a little. Oh, that’s really good. Oh, it’s too good. Delicious! Oh, delicious!
It’s so, so good. And the… Spicy. Very nice. Like a sweet spicy. I love it. Thank you. This is a great place to try Cao Lầu. Love it.
Love it, love it, love it. Bye, see you again. See you again. All right, let’s go for some more. All around Hoi An,you can see a lot of
these dessert stalls selling a Vietnamese dessert soup called ‘Chè’. Now, this one apparently
has been around for over 40 years. So, let’s get some dessert. Soup. Hello. Hello. Hello. How are you? here we have our bowl of Jay. Now, this is a very popular
Central Vietnamese dessert that’s really popular
all over the country now. But, we asked the owner here
which way to have it. You can either have it hot or cold. We asked her what her favourite was.
She said hot. So we definitely
had to get a bowl of the hot And we got ours with coconut cream,
so you can see. Oh, look at all that nice white coconutty
goodness there. And oh, look how thick that is. I don’t know what’s making it that thick. Maybe some sort of syrup, honey, but. Oh, it smells really delicious and sweet. All right,
let’s just go for a huge ultimate bite. And I think that’s
a piece of banana as well. Mmm. That’s not banana. I don’t know what that is. It’s really mushy. Almost tastes like a chestnut. But, there’s a strong flavour
of ginger in there actually, wow. Mmm. It is sugary, it is sweet. Absolutely filled. That coconut cream
really makes it nice and creamy. Oh, it might be lotus seed, that sticky stuff. Oh. Lotus seed. Oh, yeah, maybe. But, ooh… it’s really an interesting texture. It’s like maple syrup. And… Like molasses. Look at it there. It is like, almost like a raw egg white. That’s the consistency and the texture. Looks strange, but it’s actually pretty, pretty delicious. Wow. You can see it’s absolutely filled with
the mung beans there. It looks like there’s tapioca balls as well,
little tiny ones. But, just… I can’t get over the texture Of this Chè. Wow. Look at that. Even though it’s kind of hot out here today
in Hoi An, the hot version of the Chè
is quite refreshing in a strange way. And, now that I have another taste of it, mmm. There’s definitely a strong flavour of corn in this desert soup. Mmm. It’s just a melting pot of flavours though. An explosion of sweet dessert. Delicious. Delicious. Ooh, this is delicious. The consistency… So strange. This is the famous Bale Well. Now, this was built in the 9th to 10th century,
so it’s actually like a thousand years old, which is just insane
how ancient this is. What’s also super interesting is that it’s actually square,
and it was built by a Cham architect. And it’s actually never run dry in the thousand years
that this well has been around. And this is where the local residents and
restaurants gets the water for their food. Like those white rose dumplings
and the Cao Lầu that we had today. Because the water itself is just so mineral
rich. It’s high quality, super pure. And honestly, it’s just incredible
that not only is this still standing, but residents use it today and that it’s
been around for a thousand years. I mean, talk about history
in this beautiful ancient town. One thing that you have to try when you’re here in Hoi An
is this special Mót herbal drink. Now, this is super popular. You can see here, there are a ton of people
lining up for this drink. And apparently it’s really healthy. It’s made with like 20 different
ingredients, like lemongrass, ginger, green tea, cinnamon,
chrysanthemum. Just like all these different healthy
things, it’s supposed to detox your body. So, I think we should get one, line up,
but just look how busy it is here. Wow. Thank you. Ooh, look at this. Look how beautiful this drink is. You can see why this is a popular drink
amongst all of the tourists that come here. So this is the Mót herbal tea. Now, you can see a lot of other shops
and stalls selling this same drink all around Hoi an. But this is apparently where it originated from. A recipe of over 100 years passed down generations, apparently. And you can just see again
how busy it is here. Everyone wants to get their herbal tea. I think probably because it looks so good. So it’s very… social media, Instagrammable,
I think. But, let’s give it a try. Again, it’s made with all these types
of herbs and fruits, spices. Ooh… That’s delicious. It’s refreshing, number one, because there’s
so much crushed ice in there, but. Ooh, it’s like a healthy iced tea. Like an iced tea meets a lemonade. Almost like a healthy herbal Arnold Palmer. Mmm. That’s good. Steph… Give it a try. What do you think? Ooh, that’s nice. Mmm. Really tastes like, that lime or lemon. Yeah. Yeah. It’s really gingery, lemongrass
flavour as well, but just sweet, refreshing. And… it’s really actually good. Again it’s supposed to be a healthy drink,
detox the body. But, I can see on a hot day like today
why it’s so perfect and why there’s such big lineups here. I mean, just look at everyone
taking their photos of their drink. And the lineups just keep coming all day
long here at Mót Hội An. But, this is the
place to come for this drink. Mmm. This is refreshing
and I do feel healthy drinking it. So… This is good. Let’s continue on. We just hopped outside
of the ancient town here in Hoi An because there’s a few things
that we want to try at nighttime here. Now, being in the new city,
we have to see how Hoi An’s Bánh Mì game stacks up to the rest of the country. This place is supposed to be really good. Hello. How are you? Yeah. I’m fine. And you? Good. Yeah, I’m fine. And you? Good, thank you. Bánh Mì? Yeah, Bánh Mì. Sit down please. Thank you. Yeah. Here, with the charcoal. Oh, wow. To toast up the Bánh Mì bun, right? Yeah. Okay. Avocado. Slice. Ooh, so crispy and fresh. Cheese. Okay. Like that. This is a special Bánh Mì. Yeah. Pate. Pate, yes. One spoon. Here. Here. Soy sauce. Bánh Mì soy sauce. Cucumber. Too many herbs. Yeah, lots of herbs. Yeah, the green onion, and coriander,
and mint. Wow. And the green papaya and carrot, pickled. Pickled papaya and carrots. Yeah. And this is the sliced pork. Pork belly. Pork belly. Wow. Here, the pork roll. Okay. Egg. Ooh! One more sauce. Oh my goodness. This is the chili, homemade. You try. Little bit spicy. Yeah. And avocado on the top. Special avocado. Yeah. Thank you Phi. Okay. Okay, we make one more time. Yeah. Thank you Phi. Oh, my gosh. This is a special Bánh Mì. It is completely packed. And this is the owner Phi
from Phi Bánh Mì. Thank you so much. Thank you.
Can’t wait to taste this. Enjoy. Ooh… Thank you. Look at how packed this Bánh Mì is. So he like, triple toasted the fresh bread here. Look at that. But it is what’s packed inside of it
that makes it so special. So, they are known here at Phi Bánh Mì for their avocado in their Bánh Mì,
which is super special. We’ve never had that before,
but you can see all of those also traditional ingredients like the cucumber,
the pickled papaya and carrot. We got some grilled pork
belly there, the egg, the special spicy sauce,
homemade spicy sauce, the Bánh Mì sauce, the soy sauce. Wow. This is just amazing. Oh, and we can’t forget about
what makes Bánh Mì Bánh Mì, that pate in there, too. Ooh. Now here
they have 11 different types of Bánh Mì But of course, we just had to go with the Phi special
because of all the different ingredients. And I forgot there’s also that cow cheese
on the inside of here as well. So unique and special. But, ooh, this looks amazing. Let’s take our first Bánh Mì bite. Mmm. Mmm. Oh, yes. This is it, ooh. Phi. Yeah? Delicious. Delicious? Delicious. Okay. So good. It’s filled. Ooh, this is epitome of Bánh Mì,
and just so amazing, again. So crispy. The bread is so fresh,
but that avocado makes the whole sandwich just so creamy. Mmm. Never had avocado in a Bánh Mì before, but, it just goes so well
with the pate, the creamy egg as well. I love that addition. The cheese kind of gets lost in the Bánh Mì because of the creaminess of the avocado,
but, ooh, it’s just all so good. And that meaty pork
and the Vietnamese sausage in there. It’s packed with avocado. Mmm. And that homemade chili sauce,
we were reading here that it takes Phi two months to make chili sauce,
but it just adds that little bit of kick
to just kick this Bánh Mì up a notch. But, I think we need a little more. Thank you. Thank you Phi. Oh, look at this. Look how thick this chili spicy sauce is. It’s almost like a jam. Look at that. We need to put a little bit more
of this in our Bánh Mì. Or a lot of bit, because this is so,
so good. And again, it is absolutely jam
packed with the amount of avocado in there. Just all the ingredients
to make this Bánh Mì so special. Hoi An definitely knows how to make a good Bánh Mì, that’s for sure. Mmm. Phi… Thank you. That chili sauce… unreal. So, they have a special Phi iguana here. now, this is an attraction here at
Phi Bánh Mì. Hey little buddy. Who is this guy? Yeah. That’s nice. That’s nice. Thank you Phi, thank you so much. Ooh, delicious. So delicious. Okay, see you. Thank you. So, so good. Steph and I love Bánh Mì. It’s one of the most affordable dishes
you can get here in Vietnam. And they’re always so varied. Like, every Bánh Mì is different,
no matter where you go. Every city, every stall. So, what an experience. Rice, rice. Chicken? Chicken. Okay. Another Popular dish in Hoi An
is Chicken Rice. And I have to say, we love ourselves a
good chicken rice. Now, this is really popular in Hoi An
because it’s a Chinese dish. And there are a lot of Chinese immigrants
around the 17th to 18th century, because Hoi An was the largest
trading port at the time. So, of course, with them they brought
their cooking, their cooking styles. And this is very similar to a Hainanese
chicken rice that you find in a number of different
Southeast Asian countries. But, this one here looks so good. So the chicken itself,
you could see, was yellow. So it’s a free range chicken. And the rice. Just look at the colour of that rice. It’s cooked in the chicken broth. And the chicken itself
is boiled in herbs and onion. And just, oh my gosh, just look at that. Like, one of the best things about the chicken rice is usually the rice,
I have to say. So, I’m just going to get myself
a nice bite of everything. They put some nice fresh onions
on the top, as well as a bit of a sauce too. But, look at that. All right. Mmm. Okay, I have to say,
that rice just bursts with flavour. It’s so tasty. The a little bit of sauce or broth
that they put on top. It’s quite mild. It’s just a little oily tasting
I think, with the chicken. But ooh, there’s so much flavour
in that rice. Mmm. It’s just like a savoury carby ricey hug. Oh my gosh, that’s super tasty. And on top here, it looks like
we’ve actually got as well as the onions, some, maybe like raw papaya it seems like. And some nice fresh herbs over here. Okay. Let’s get a nice bite with a little bit of
absolutely everything here. Ultimate bite! Ultimate bite. Almost looks like noodles. Look at this. Mmm. Those herbs… Add such a nice fresh fragrance to it. Oh my gosh, those are really tasty. I’m not exactly sure what they are,
to be honest with you. That’s really nice. And that papaya adds a nice taste that’s almost sweet, but not really
because it’s like raw, like unripe papaya. Mmm. That goes really well with it. Mmm. It’s nice how with the Vietnamese chicken rice, they actually do their chicken shredded. Mmm. So nice and tender. It’s juicy. And has such a lovely flavour. You can tell that
that is just good quality free range chicken. That’s incredible. Also get, this insanely rich looking broth to go with it. Ooh. Oh, my gosh. Look at how packed it is. I thought it was just straight up,
like a little broth. But it is packed with veggies. And look at that. Looks like there’s meat
potentially in there, too. Mmm. Oh, wow. You know what?
it actually is very very mild flavour. It actually is very, very mild flavour. It’s not too salty. It doesn’t even taste
super chickeny, actually. It just tastes healthy,
because this type of food is just so simple, fresh and tasty. I just want to get a nice dip here in
this broth. Because, why not? Mmm. Now that’s the stuff. We are heading back into the
Hoi An ancient town. And honestly, if it wasn’t picturesque enough during the day,
I feel like it’s almost more beautiful at night. And the cool thing is,
is they actually completely shut it off to all kinds of traffic, bikes
and everything. So as soon as you enter it, you notice
it gets insanely quiet. And…
Just wait until you guys see the river. What did we tell you guys? It’s pandemonium around here. You can see at night
Hoi An really comes alive. The river is so beautiful. There’s loads of boats
covered in colourful lanterns. And although it’s a little bit touristy,
it’s still such a sight to see. And something you have
to do when you come to Hoi An. It’s well known that Hoi An is the place
to come here in Vietnam for clothing. So any type of clothing
that you want to get made. There are a ton of tailors
all around the city here. So if you want a suit, dresses,
shoes, jackets, bags. They make everything here in Hoi An. And you can just see there is
just so many things that you can get. So if you want clothes,
definitely come to the city. And even if you’re looking for,
I don’t know… Say… A beer holster? They got that too. So, this is definitely a place to come
for all your shopping and clothing needs. And, I may have got a suit or two. One thing that we wanted to try
before we left Hoi An was a mango cake. Now, these just aren’t
your regular mango cakes. Let’s get one. Hello. Hello, welcome. Hello. Mango cake? Mango cake. Ah, for me, one. Mango cake. One? One. Thank you. Thank you. Ooh, look at this little guy. Let’s give him a taste. So, here we have our mango cake. Now, you can see this. Look at this little squishy guy. So, these are super squishy,
made of rice flour and powdered something. And the inside. Filled with… not mango,
crushed peanuts and brown sugar. So, really deceiving
because there’s no mango in this at all. I think it’s called that
because of the shape. They look similar to mangoes,
but let’s take a bite. Mmm. Ooh… That white powder. Is so like, dry,
when it first goes in my mouth, but. Mmm. The inside are packed with the crushed peanuts and the brown sugar,
and the rice flour is really chewy. This reminds me of like, a mochi. Like a peanut mochi. Little disappointed
that there’s actually no mango in this, but I do love peanuts, so. Mmm. It’s not a bad dessert. The outside flour powder… Is a little weird and dry, but… Not bad overall. That’s it for this video guys. Thank you all so much for watching. We hope you enjoyed exploring Hoi An
today with us. If you enjoyed the video give it a LIKE,
give it a thumbs up. SUBSCRIBE to the channel. We’re Hungry Two Travel, and we’ll see you next meal.

Our first stop was to taste the locally made rose dumplings, with four generations of delicious history! Next up was for a popular street food in Hoi An, grilled pork skewers, these were super flavourful and so tasty and charred.

Any Vietnamese street food tour in Hoi An has to include one of the most popular foods in Vietnam, cao lau. Cao lau is a very popular Vietnamese food that is only found in Hoi An, nowhere else in the country! We were blown away by how tasty and delicious it was. We tasted a local Vietnamese sweet soup, a popular Hoi An drink, as well as a jam packed banh mi. You can’t go to a new city without trying banh mi, the number one street food in Vietnam!

We finished off our ultimate Vietnamese street food tour in Hoi An, Vietnam, tasting the local chicken rice, and a very unique mango cake. With so many foods to eat in Hoi An, we had to make sure to hit up the best street food spots, and we’ve gotta say, the food did not disappoint!

We hope you enjoy our ultimate Vietnamese street food tour in Hoi An, Vietnam. So, what do you think, is Hoi An the most underrated food city in Vietnam? Stay tuned next week for more food adventures!

  1. Vietnam's street food look like American fancy restaurant food. Their ingredient preparation is so intricate and detailed. The best part of Vietnam's food scene is rich and poor have access to quality freshly cooked food with fresh ingredients.
