Europa-Park Become a member of WonderJourneys,
and get exclusive content and early access Europa-Park: located in between The Black Forest and the Alsace region France The CanCan Coaster: right behind the Moulin Rouge Europa-Park is Germany’s largest theme park.
More than 100 attractions spread across themed European zones. It began in 1975 as a showcase for the Mack family’s ride-building company.
Now it draws millions each year. Beyond the thrills, there’s precision here.
Architecture echoes history, culture, and design from across the continent. We spend the entire day here, till the speakers called out closing time Right after the entrance are Germany, Italy and then France France is were the first big roller coasters start to appear. With the biggest ones in Iceland and our next location: Croatia We head toward Voltron Nevera. Voltron Nevera Inspired by Nikola Tesla, Voltron Nevera is a tribute to electricity—and innovation. It’s a multi-launch coaster, climbing 32 meters
and hitting speeds of 90 km/h. A new landmark in coaster engineering.
The design mixes futuristic shapes with steampunk details. Cogs, copper, and lightning motifs surround the track.
From electric sparks, we descend into ancient myth. We did do a couple of coasters ourselves. But not this one. We first visited the entire park, and then entered a couple of coasters and other attractions The blue domes of Greece await. Greece White walls and bright domes bring Santorini to life.
Olive trees and statues line the square. This zone honors both myth and seafaring history.
Its main temple hides a watery secret: Poseidon. Poseidon Half coaster, half water ride, Poseidon dives through ruins
and splashes down into the Aegean. Marble pillars and tridents flank the route.
Carved sea gods watch from above. Nearby, another legend waits.
This time, not from Olympus—but from the lost world below. Atlantis Atlantis Adventure takes you deep underwater.
Screens, tunnels, and coral walls create a sunken city of mystery. Philosophers once believed Atlantis was real.
Here, it almost feels true. Walking in this Greece feels like you realy are in Greece The theming of Europa-Park is excellent Next up, we move away from the sea, to head for the mountains. The sounds of cowbells, yodels and thrill rides lead us to Switzerland. Switzerland Wooden chalets, alpine gardens, and stone bridges
make up this cozy Swiss corner. The smell of melted cheese fills the air.
But the calm doesn’t last. Just beyond the village starts the climb. Swiss Bob Run The Swiss Bob Run is a coaster without tracks.
Sleds glide like real bobsleds—twisting through a narrow icy trough. Invented in 1985, it mimics Olympic curves.
Riders bank hard left and right, wind roaring past. This was one of the roller coasters we took, along with: Can Can (France) and Arthur. We thought the mega coasters were perhaps a bit too much – for us. Perhaps next time! We stay in the Alps a little longer.
One more mountain calls: Matterhorn Blitz. Matterhorn Blitz This wild mouse coaster hides behind a wooden barn.
Inside, an elevator lift mimics a snowy cable car. The ride darts between sharp turns and steep drops.
Windows flash by, almost brushing your shoulders. From mountain peaks, we sail north.
The houses are painted red. We’ve reached Scandinavia. Scandinavia Here in Europa-Park, Scandinavia is right next to The Netherlands These monorails where everywhere, together with trains and a park express Near the end of the day we took one of those monorails Big Shark in Scandinavia. And a corridor to the Dutch “Piraten in Batavia” Fjord Rafting Fjord Rafting tosses riders through rapids and water caves.
It’s one of the park’s wettest and wildest adventures. You can see people with rain overalls in the boats Waves settle. The drifters arrive safely at home. Then we hear drums. A great wooden hall rises ahead. Wodan calls. Wodan Timburcoaster Built from 1,000 cubic meters of pine,
Wodan races through a Norse underworld at 100 km/h. Runes glow in the dark. Loki and Odin appear in carved statues.
It’s raw, fast, and roaring. This is a mega coaster: you get treated to an extra long coaster ride And again, the details and village are stunning. There are Icelandic artisans in shops (jewelry and woodwork) From timber to ocean depths—we drift to the next port:
Iceland gives way to distant seas. Whale Adventures Inside a whaling ship, families board rotating boats.
Water guns battle squid, sharks, and other sea creatures. The colors are bright, the story light.
But soon, the tone shifts. The whole park has attractions for young and older intertwined But an entire area is dedicated to entertain families with (younger) children. Arthur, Ireland and the fairy tale forest (Märchenwald) are in that part of Europa Park Beneath the ground, another world is waiting. Arthur Arthur takes you into the Minimoys Kingdom.
The dark ride blends coaster and storytelling. Mushrooms tower above. Insects scurry.
Riders glide under roots and over rivers. A tunnel leads out, and another dock appears.
It smells of spice and adventure. Pirates in Batavia This immersive boat ride sails through Batavia,
a Dutch colonial port in Java. Cannon blasts echo in the dark. Monkeys swing from rafters.
Every room is a moving stage. Let’s go inside and see the Pirates in Batavia From pirates to fairytales—the next path leads into the woods. Fairytale Forest Tales of Grimm live here. The Frog King, Hansel and Gretel, Cinderella and many more Each story has its own house or castle.
Mechanical figures and quiet music bring them to life. From forest trails, we find green hills and laughter.
Ireland is just ahead. Ireland This is a children’s haven. Mini rides, soft grass,
and stone towers create a Celtic fantasy land. Leprechauns dance and sheep graze.
But our travels now cross the Channel. England Red phone boxes, Globe Theatre, English Roses.
Tea shops and cricket fields bring Victorian charm to life. The silver stone race track, next to arcade halls, pubs and cottwolds cottages. We are in England From the West to the East of the European continent we go. Russia The onion domes of Moscow glisten.
The area nods to Soviet space history. The station ahead is tall and circular.
The Euro-Mir roller coaster. Just like in almost all other Europa-Park countries, there is themed village with artisans from than country Watching the painter painting. Icons Euro Mir A space-themed spinning coaster.
Each tower imitates a Soviet training module. The ride rotates as it climbs,
then whirls down past glass domes and mirrored walls. After space exploration, we step into a royal boat. Josefina’s Magical Imperial Journey We like to call her Sisi. The last Empress of the Austria-Hungarian empire A slow ride through gardens and fountains.
Josefina sails past baroque palaces and flowerbeds. There were several princes and princesses roaming this area It’s Vienna, touched with fantasy.
But next comes speed. Alpine Express This powered coaster darts through rocks and caves.
First opened in 1984, it’s a nod to classic Alpine fun. We climb down—and enter a new realm made for explorers. Yomi Adventure Trail Paths rise above ponds and rope nets.
Children climb, swing, and leap across towers. The water coaster cuts through these rocky mountains And the boats are attacked by water guns Crystal caves, trolls and gnomes. The Alpine magic is everywhere Adventure ends at sea again. Atlantica Super Splash A Portuguese fort hides a giant water ride.
Galleons drop 30 meters into the sea. Tiles and azulejos decorate the fort walls.
It’s bold and fast. Portugal & Santa Marian Portugal’s zone blends forts and spice markets. A perfect place to wine, dine and relax Spain A grand arena hosts dance shows.
Stone arches and warm colors echo Seville. Food stalls line the paths.
Paella simmers, music plays. Italy Volo da Vinci honours another great European inventor Painter, innovator, architect and more. Leonardo da Vinci. Absolutely stunning setting. Venice in Germany The last zone returns us to the beginning—Germany. Germany Half-timbered houses line a neat square.
Beer gardens bustle. It feels like a Franconian town on market day.
Here, the park’s story started. But one final flight awaits. Voletarium Voletarium is a flying theater.
It lifts riders over rivers, mountains, and cities across Europe. Scents, wind, and movement create a convincing illusion.
It’s the park’s love letter to the continent. The age of exploration is fully alive, over here Voletarium is a cinema experience You take your seat. The floor disappears. And underneath your feet Europe appears. You’ll fly over Paris, Neuschwanstein, the Alps and Dolomites, Dutch flower fields, London, Greece and Spain It wasn’t possible to film inside Voletarium So we added some shots of our very own wonder journeys We land, but the journey continues.
Germany Street guides us home. Germany Street Shops, cafés, and fountains.
Musicians play here at night. Lights glow under tiled eaves.
And just before the gates, one more tale unfolds. Jim Button Based on a beloved German tale,
Jim Button’s train winds through dragons and mechanical lands. It’s slow and story-rich—perfect for reflection.
As the day ends, the music fades. Closing Time Practical Tourist Information Europa-Park is located in Rust, in southwest Germany,
