road trip #2 | quatre jours autour du mont fuji | hakone, fujinomiya, iyashi no sato, kawaguchi
For this new road trip, we’re returning to see Mount Fuji in early spring. My family and I are touring it in four days. On the first day, we’re heading to Hakone, stopping off to see Odawara Castle. After reaching Hachioji by train, we picked up the car and headed to Odawara. After a tour of the castle and its gardens, we ate our picnic in the sun, then visited the small Hotoku Ninomiya temple, which we saw during the day this time. After a winding road that we were happy to take without traffic, we arrived at the Hakone Open Art Museum. Numerous contemporary works of art by various artists from around the world are exhibited in its 70,000 m² space. This open-air museum, opened in 1969, is definitely worth the detour. As the sun was setting, we stopped by Lake Hashi to visit the Hakone Shrine. It was so pretty with the lanterns and nightfall. Second day between tea plantations, waterfalls and the city of Fujinomiya without forgetting the view of Mount Fuji We woke up with a surprise view of Mount Fuji from our hotel room. Then we left for Obuchi Sasaba, tea plantations at the foot of the volcano. From the south, the silhouette of Fuji is different with its small bump on the side. We enjoyed the sun and the calm of the place. Then we continued our journey to reach another viewpoint and admire the Shiraito waterfalls. A layer of lava, due to an old eruption, allows the water to circulate underground and gives the impression that it comes out directly from the walls. It was very surprising. After climbing, we were even able to admire a small rainbow. In the afternoon, the sky began to cloud over and hide Mount Fuji. The reason: a large fire in western Japan, which the wind intensified and caused the smoke to spread as far as Tokyo. After eating at Mos Burger and dropping the car off at our accommodation in the city of Fujinomiya, we headed to the Fujisan Hongu Sengen Shrine. In the middle of the temple stood a weeping cherry tree, covering itself with blossoms. Daphne bought an omikuji whose omen awakens upon contact with water. A great stroke of luck for her coming year. Right next to the shrine is the Mount Fuji World Heritage Center. A very graphic museum that shares a lot of information about the volcano, its history, and a glimpse of its ascent. After dinner, on the way back, we passed by the shrine again. At night, it was a completely different atmosphere, even more beautiful. Third day between ice caves, a traditional village, and the Fuji Omuro Sengen Shrine. The view has cleared and the sky is beautiful blue for this new day. We set off for the Narusawa Ice Cave, and honestly, we weren’t expecting this. The visit takes just fifteen minutes, following a very low path where you have to bend in half to get through and reach a tiny icy cavity. Needless to say, we had a good laugh. Back in the open air, we went to the village of Iyashi no Sato. We visited all the houses and even ate soba and tempura for lunch. In the late afternoon, we went to the shores of Lake Kawaguchi to visit Fuji Omuro Sengen. Inside the temple grounds, there was the option of sending these bad energies into a bowl to explode them, which my mom did. Dinner at a Gasto with the robot cat that brought us our orders. 4th and last day, we go to the Kitaguchi Hongu Fuji Sengen shrine, we cancel the visit to Oshino hakkai and we eat with a cloudy view. During my first trip, this temple had really impressed me, so I wanted to take them there. And without regret, they loved it. With the rays of the sun passing through the cedars, it was beautiful. Daphne hung an Ema with her wish, which will have come true because she passed her professional exam! At Oshino Hakkai, we turned around in front of the parking lots full of buses. We then had a picnic at the Yamanakako panorama. The wind allowed us to see a bit of Mount Fuji, before getting back on the road to drop off the car and go home. In the next video, we head back to the northeast of Tokyo. So, see you soon!
En mars, avec ma maman et ma sœur, nous avons loué une voiture pour quatre jours de roadtrip pour faire tout le tour du mont Fuji. Un second voyage au pied du géant entre musées, temples, plantation de thé et chutes d’eau.
