在安省最美小镇Elora过最冷的Victoria Day：小镇徒步+啤酒厂探店｜Grand River Trail
Can you imagine the coldest Victoria Day ? It was nearly 30 degrees last Friday , so I had to turn on the heater and wear a cotton-padded jacket on Monday . I heard on the news that this was the coldest May since 1967. But the sun was very bright, so I decided to visit the small town of Elora, which is more than an hour away from home. The last time I went to Elora was in the summer. Every time I think of Elora, only one word comes to my mind , which is charming. Elora is a fairy-tale town in southwestern Ontario, about 1.5 hours’ drive from Toronto. It was once rated as one of the most beautiful communities in the country by Canadian Geographic . The 19th-century limestone buildings , art galleries and cafes hidden in the alleys make this place full of retro and literary atmosphere. The name of the town comes from faraway Scotland. In the early 19th century, immigrants named it after the Elora Gorge in Scotland , and the Eloro Gorge here is a signature attraction. The cliffs cut out by the Ice Age and the rapids of the Grand River attract a constant stream of people who come for rafting in the summer and hiking in the winter. You can take a free shuttle bus here , which can go around the entire Elora and the entire downtown of Fergus next to it. It is free to park your car on the roadside in the residential area near Victoral Park . If you park in Eloro There is a fee to enter the Gorge reserve. This terrain is a maple leaf of the Canadian flag. By the way , Elora also has many movie shooting locations. For example, the Halloween scene of “Crazy 2” is hidden in the corner of the town. That house is the Elora mill hotel & Spa. It is a luxury hotel converted from a historic mill. It is located on the banks of the Grand River and specializes in high-end accommodation and catering . There are stilt houses everywhere. What are these wooden houses used for? Is this an exhibition hall? We came to the Elora grand river trail , which is one of the most popular hiking routes in Elora. It is built along the river and runs through the entire Elora Gorge reserve. The special thing about this trail is its versatility. You can choose a relaxing riverside trail or challenge the steep cliff observation deck . You can hear the sound of rushing water. It’s not so cold now. I don’t even wear a small down jacket now . This Lover’s Leap observation deck is said to be a pair of lovers who committed suicide here . There is no way to verify it , but the scenery here is indeed very good. Did you know that the stones used in the limestone buildings in Elora are all from the grand The bank of the river is mined. This is passing by someone’s backyard. I saw the owner took advantage of the long weekend to do some gardening. This is the view of the river valley below from the bridge. On the way, we passed a Curling Club. Out of curiosity, we walked in and found that there was no ice inside. At this time, the old lady in white came over to chat with us. She told us that they usually play shuffleboard here in summer. She also told us that she especially likes China and has climbed the Great Wall. She has been to China and climbed the Great Wall . She said that the steps of the Great Wall are really high and low, and now she can’t climb it. She is 84 years old now , but you can’t really tell. She is in such good shape, with a good figure and a very good temperament. She has a thick head of white hair. I envy her. In the summer, you can experience rafting here. You have to book it online in advance. There are 450 campsites around here , including unserviced, partially serviced and fully serviced campsites. I think it’s better to come here when it’s warmer. Camping is a good place. If you have plenty of time and like hiking, you can also go to the nearby Elora Cataract in the fall. Trailway is a trail converted from an abandoned railway. The total length is 47 kilometers. It is said that the maple leaves are breathtakingly beautiful during the season . These people are queuing up to buy ice cream. When I turned around and saw the name of the store , I realized that they were queuing up to wait for a table. This restaurant is ranked first in the Google review of Elora restaurants. My husband wanted to go to the brewery to drink home-brewed beer , so we didn’t join in the fun. However, this business is just as prosperous. We waited for a while before sitting down. I don’t know if it’s because of the small town. The service attitude here is very good, but the service is chaotic. There is really nothing to eat on their menu. No wonder everyone was eating burgers outside just now. But the beer is really good with a refreshing fruity aroma, which goes well with burgers. It is said that this brewery was actually converted from a 19th-century carriage factory . However, it has not been verified , but this building has a history of 150 years. So we drink beer and history at the same time. Although the temperature is not high today , the sun is shining. Walking and hiking in the vibrant and quiet town of Elora , I feel that the temperature is just right and it is very comfortable to walk.
