Hokkaido ~ Winter 2024: Niseko, Toyako, Mt. Usu, Noboribetsu
The weather was rough on the peak Going back to Hilton in Niseko now I’m the only person returning on the gondola The staff let me in for free to take take a picture It was very nice of them I couldn’t get to the large thermometer on the slope, because there was another ski slope on the way I decided to return because it was very cold and windy They fortunately allowed me to ride the gondola down as the only person Everyone else is riding ski or snowboard down This is the view, we will start sharp descent shortly The map of this area Niseko is expensive for Japan, especially if you are a beginner The gondola was moving sideways due to the wind Descent Mount Yotei? The same day The mountain you see (Showa-shinzan) was created in 1944 by volcanic eruption Panoramic deck at the top Lake Toya This is the ropeway The trails were closed 🙁 Too windy to fly a drone there A little windy This was fun even though the weather was pretty harsh The area also has a Bear Museum, which I did not visit Only 2 or 3 souvenir shops were open No food This is in Toya, 20-30min drive At night The town was dead Well, there were many Chinese tourists This tunnel was nice But the best the town offers are hot springs Cute This is a hotel, I think it was sold out Not many Japanese here There were fireworks every night I woke up very early for the sunrise A lot of the lakeside attractions were closed View from hotel onsen (foot bath in this case) I had a coupon and paid half price for this onsen day use, it was the best one Very popular volcanic area The hiking trails were closed in winter It looks peaceful but there were many tourists The smell was nice There were many different hot springs available in the local hotels It was expensive, so I’m happy I didn’t sleep here Sunset in Muroran, on my way to Toya This was interesting 50 JPY for 100 liters of hot spring water You need to bring your own container Pretty modern I wanted to climb this but there were people in the building nearby Toya at sunrise I saw this ship cruising the next day Can you spot me?
