Hello, I’m Alin!
Today’s food tour takes us to the Qingdao Licun Outdoor Market in Shandong Province, China.
It’s a lively market selling local specialities and snacks.
As soon as I walked in, I was hit by the aromas wafting through the air: the freshly baked Shandong pot cake is crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, and the aroma hits you immediately; next to the stalls selling fried Qingdao crumbs, golden and crispy, you can hear them “ka-ching” when you bite into them, and they’re full of rich meat aroma! The seafood area is simply dazzling: fat sea cucumbers are smooth and elastic, and fresh clams spit bubbles in the basin. The most exciting thing is actually seeing the scorpion stall — brave partners must try it!
The seasonal fruit stalls are even more attractive: red cherries as clear as jewels and melons cut open to reveal a sweet aroma. Walk two steps further and you’ll be attracted by the sweet aroma of freshly fried chess pieces. They’re crispy on the outside and soft on the inside with a strong milky flavour. Every stall has something to offer, from traditional snacks to seasonal fruits!
