Hello, this is “Chia’s Outing” channel, where I travel hard without a car. This time, we will be talking about Nara’s strange sights: Tunzurumine The name comes from the fact that the white rock surface looks like a lot of cranes hanging out. After visiting Taima-dera Temple and Sekiko-ji Temple, we also visited Futakami Furusato Park. Walk at the foot of Mt. Nijo. After seeing peonies and peonies at Taima-dera Temple and Sekiko-ji Temple, I headed towards Nijoyama-Jinjaguchi Station, but on the way I saw information about the roadside station Futakami Park Taima, so I decided to stop by. I would like to quote from the guidebook for Mt. Nijo, which I will introduce later, about Mt. Nijo, which has appeared many times since I came to Taima . Mt. Nijo is located on the border between Taishi Town, Osaka Prefecture, and Katsuragi City, Nara Prefecture, and consists of two peaks: Mt. Odake (517 m) and Mt. Medake (474 m). At the summit of Mt. Odake, there is Nigami Shrine and the tomb of Prince Otsu (son of Emperor Tenmu). A stone sundial has been installed at the summit of Mt. Odake, and trees such as cherry blossoms and azaleas have been planted to create a plaza with a good view. I arrived at the roadside station Futakami Park Taima. I forgot to take a photo, but I ate the shiso soft serve ice cream. It was refreshing and delicious. I will quote the description of “Roadside Station Futakami Park Taima” from the Kinki Roadside Station website. A station opens on the National Route 165 bypass line. In addition to selling the city’s special products, we recommend the Kehaya Gozen, which uses plenty of vegetables grown by local farmers. There was Nijoyama Furusato Park across the street, so I decided to stop by. As I passed by a beautiful grassy field, I came across some amazing stone steps😮There was an observation deck at the top, and I thought it had a great view, but I was about to leave and was running out of energy and stamina, so I didn’t climb it. There was a path that you could climb from halfway up the stone steps, but you still had to climb 276 steps. I didn’t have the energy to climb that either😅 I didn’t go to the observation deck, but it was a nice park with a great view. The description of the park is quoted from the Katsuragi City website. This natural park at the foot of Mt. Nigami has a large lawn area perfect for picnics. There are many natural activities that children will enjoy, such as a waterside terrace that transforms into a water playground in the summer, wooden combination play equipment, and a log house-style toy hall. Also, be sure to climb the 456 stone steps that give you a panoramic view of the Nara Basin. The scenery of the Taiko Bridge and the fountain was also nice. Access: Approximately 10 minutes walk from Futakami-jinjaguchi Station on the Kintetsu Minami-Osaka Line Operating hours: 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Closed: Every Tuesday and Wednesday (if Wednesday is a public holiday, the park is open.) This time, I walked from Kintetsu Taima-dera Station to Futami-jinja Exit, looking at Taima-dera Temple, Sekiko-ji Temple, and Nigamiyama Furusato Park all the way.At Nigami-jinja Station, the station next to Futami-jinjaguchi Station, there is Donzuru-mine, which is said to be a unique sight. I happened to see it on YouTube and wanted to go there, but I didn’t know much about walking from Nijoyama Station and was nervous, so I couldn’t go.However, when I told my friend Ti-chan from Nara, Ti-chan wanted to go there too, so she decided to take me there by car❣After this, I will show you the video of Tunzurumine, which I went to on January 31, 2025. If you go by car, there is a parking lot right next to the entrance to Tunkurmine, so you can easily visit the scenic spot of Tunkurmine. According to Nara Prefecture’s official tourism website Nara Travel Net, transportation from the nearest station is as follows. About a 32-minute walk (about 2.5 km) west from Nijoyama Station on the Kintetsu Minami-Osaka Line About a 38-minute walk (about 3.0 km) southwest from Nijoyama Station on the Kintetsu Osaka Line About a 39-minute walk (about 2.8 km) south from Sekiya Station on the Kintetsu Osaka Line It’s not so far that you can’t walk from any station, but it’s far. If you’re serious about mountain climbing, Tunkakumine is the starting point for the Diamond Trail, which takes you to Mt. Nijo, Mt. Katsuragi, and Mt. Kongo. From the information board, there seem to be viewing spots on both the left and right. First, let’s go to the left side. I will quote the guide version or the explanation of Tunkurmine. Donzuru-mine is a volcanic peak in the Nijo Volcanic Group. Volcanic debris from Mt. Nijo began with the eruption of bituminous rock, which was deposited on the water floor and became a tuff layer . Due to its uplift, weathering, and water erosion, it became a strange-looking rock formation. The tuff layer has a strike direction of approximately northeast at its lower part, and a 50 degree dip toward the northwest. Go back down and climb the stairs on the right. (Continued) Furthermore, the Donzurumine layer is further It extends widely to the northeast and also extends to the southwest, and the bedding of the tuff is very correct, making it look like an endless number of large tatami mats stacked diagonally on top of each other . The cut edges of the layers reveal beautiful folds resembling small waves, making it not only a valuable academic resource, but also surrounded by tree-covered mountains, giving the impression of a unique and otherworldly place, making it worthy of the name of a strange place. I was surprised to see such a view in Nara. I’m glad you brought me there by car. After visiting Tunkakumine, we went to an Italian restaurant for lunch. This is a popular restaurant that was listed as a Bib Gourmand in the Michelin Guide Nara 2024. Reservations are recommended. Home-grown vegetables and authentic Neapolitan pizza were delicious. Thank you for watching. Please rate highly and subscribe to the channel.
