This Tiny NSW Town Will Steal Your Heart! | Tilba Travel Guide

[ Tilba Travel Guide | NSW Australia ] [Music] Welcome to Tilba New South Wales In this Australia travel vlog we step back in time And explore the historic heritage
listed towns of Central Tilba and Tilba Tilba We also stay at a beautiful farm
day – Historic Henkley Farm Which gives River Cottage a run for its money Keep watching to find out more [Music] Central Tilba and Tilba Tilba
were first established in the late 1800s When gold was discovered on Gulaga Mountain After the gold rush a
dairy industry popped up in the area Due to the really fertile volcanic soil And it still continues to this day [Music] The original custodians of this
land were the people of the Yuin nation And we’d like to pay our respects to
elders past present and emerging The name Tilba is an Aboriginal word for windy So Tilba Tilba means very windy or windy windy And from where we stand I
can vouch for it being pretty windy [Music] So we’ve just arrived in Tilba Tilba And we’re really liking the laid back vibe And we don’t know too
much about Tilba Tilba just yet But we understand it to be a bit
of a time warped little town Where you’re brought back to the mid to late 1800s And it’s a snapshot of what life
was like over a century ago One of the mysteries for me was why there is
a Tilba Tilba and then also Central Tilba That has just been answered by
the shop owner at Pam Store So way back when Tilba Tilba was the
original land that was settled And some brothers –
brother farmers – had a falling out And so then one moved up
the hill to start Central Tilba And that was the start of Central Tilba So you do have two towns Tilba Tilba’s got 30 people in it And Central Tilba’s the bigger town of 80 [Music] Behind me is Gulaga So it’s also known as Mother Mountain After colonisation, Captain James
Cook renamed the mountain Mount Dromedary Because the shape of
the mountain resembled a camel It has since reclaimed its original name Gulaga is considered to be a sacred site
for the women of the Yuin nation [Music] Behind me is Tilba Tilba walking trail This is a spectacular walking trail
which takes you up Gulaga or Mother Mountain Now if you’re energetic, it is a steep climb I think it’s about 14 km So maybe a few hours to get up to the top But if you’re feeling a bit less energetic like us Then we highly recommend at
least coming to the start of the trail Because the views are spectacular [Music] Every Saturday from 9am to
1pm are the Central Tilba markets You can purchase a range of arts and crafts And also local produce [Music] [   Arcadia Tilba Makers and Merchants ] Arcadia Tilba Makers and Merchants
is a beautiful boutique store in Tilba Which showcases handcrafted artisan
products from various cultures around the world What I love about this fair trade store is   that they work directly with the
makers to source their products [ Passionfish ] Passionfish is the village candle
shop in Central Tilba As soon as you walk in the door you’re
just greeted with all these beautiful aromas Most of the candles and the essential
oils and the products here are made in Tilba So you get that local experience [ Tilba Sweet Spot ] Tilba Sweet Spot is a
really charming little sweet shop And it’s got a 50’s style diner as well So you can enjoy your milkshakes and your snacks There are over 1,500 types of
lollies in this store And they sell 10 tons of it a year Tilba Leather has been a cherished gem
of Central Tilba since 1982 This authentic leather goods store features a
selection of traditional leather work items Focusing on Australian made products You’ll find boots shoes,
belts, bags, wallets, purses and more We were lucky enough to meet the owner Phil Who kindly gave us a tour of his workshop Demonstrating his craft The workshop was full
of meticulously crafted items Including belts, bridles, pouches and whips [ Gulaga Gallery & Bookstore ] [ Sawdust & Chalk ] [ Tilba Tricks ] [ Tilba Treehouse & Cookie Cave ] Garden enthusiasts won’t want
to miss Fox Gardens in Tilba Tilba This enchanting property features   lush woodlands, rose covered
gardens and tranquil pathways Creating a picturesque fairy tale setting Entry is $12 for adults [ Tilba Dairy ] When in Central Tilba you
have to come to the Tilba Dairy Milk is the lifeblood of Tilba You can get cheeses You can get milk There are milkshakes and
drinks that you can also buy here As well as ice cream Can’t leave Central Tilba without getting
some Tilba full cream milk [Music] Walking around Central Tilba today I have just been dreaming
about having some cold fresh milk And I can’t think of a better place to
have Tilba milk than outside Tilba Dairy Factory So let’s crack it open Oh yeah This is Australia’s best milk And it really hits the spot [ Where to eat in Tilba ]

a creamy savoury filling Made with rich Tilba cream For something heartier, the roast

tour in our next vlog Where we review Tilba’s best dining options
and the dishes you can’t miss [Music] Welcome to Historic Henkley Farm Our accommodation in Central Tilba Okay let’s take you inside for the tour So we’re at the Jeremiah suite And you’ll notice the style of the building It’s… it’s actually only 4 years old But they made sure that the style of   the building was similar to
the original farm homestead Which is over there So I believe this farm
has been around since the 1800s The late 1800s Come inside So I just love this really homely feel It’s like a little cottage suite It’s really lovely And what’s really great about it
is that you’ve got your own stove here And a fully functional kitchen Which is great There’s a decent size fridge as well It’s very handy We’ve got some veggies here
that were picked from the garden When we first arrived, we met Les Who’s one of the owners here He’s on the property with his brother Richard And they have their own garden of
veggies that guests can use Which is really cool And what’s even more cool is
that they went fishing the other day And caught all this salmon And offered us some salmon to have for dinner So that was just wonderful That’s great hospitality And speaking about hospitality When we first got here Our first visitor was a chook that
just popped up on our back verandah Just wanting to say hi That was really cool So he was our welcome party Mr chook Or I should say Mrs chook It’s really friendly But a little bit aloof at the same time It’s like a cat So it just came up to our door It was a little bit curious Wanted to see who the new neighbours were That is so cool Now let’s just take you out to the back Which is another amazing feature of this property So I just love coming out onto this verandah
and overlooking the rolling hills Oh you feel very much in the countryside here With the cows to one side There’s also sheep on this property And as I said before there’s chickens as well Oh you’re really getting back to nature here It’s wonderful Yeah so this is a productive farm So they do have cows and sheep and chickens And yeah it’s just so great to be in
amongst farm animals right here So I’m really looking forward to sitting on
this balcony and enjoying these views So let’s go back inside So we also have a nice table overlooking
our lovely rolling hills And then we’ve got our bed here Plenty of extra linen and
blankets in case it gets cold Which it will get a bit cooler here at night And they’ve got a heater there
as well if you need it They’ve got hangers here So you can hang up your clothes They’ve got a TV with your standard TV channels And it’s all really spacious and comfortable Let’s have a look at the bathroom A lovely size for a bathroom Toilet of course Shower and a well-appointed basin So it’s yeah it’s really nice It’s new It’s only a couple of years old Looks really fresh Yeah it looks really fresh I love the whites That’s great And quite spacious as well Yeah it is Look we found our visitor Our… our welcome party Historic Henkley Farm is just a
gorgeous and tranquil place So if you’re looking for a farm stay
experience on the south coast Then Historic Henkley Farm is it We’d like to extend a big thanks to Richard
and Les from Historic Henkley Farm For partnering with us in this video And making this video possible If you want to stay at Historic
Henkley Farm as well Check the link in our video description Historic Henkley Farm also offers
a unique and charming setting for weddings There is a serene chapel on site Perfect for intimate ceremonies The newly built sheep shed function centre   accommodates up to 80 guests
for cocktail style events Or 50 for sit-down dinners Providing a rustic yet
elegant space for receptions With beautiful country vistas [Music] We got up bright and early this
morning to experience the farm at sunrise And it is just spectacular out here And it was really cute being
able to feed the chickens And feed the calf I’m really loving this farm day
experience in Central Tilba It is just so peaceful here I love waking up at the crack of dawn
and going out to feed the chickens and the cows This rooster won first prize at the Candelo Show It’s a really different experience to what
we’re used to back at home in Sydney [Music] Les and Richard were very generous with their time And gave us a personal tour of the farm Including a shed that was over 150 years old It’s a lovely little building You know How old’s the building? This part of the barn was 1870 [Music] These chickens are so cute We just came a moment ago And they just came running up to greet us They’re so friendly And Les and Richard were telling us that
the most popular barn animals are not the sheep Not the cattle But the chickens It’s… it’s very easy to understand why [Music] Those sheep are so cute And they’re just following me I am so in love with Historic Henkley Farm The animals here are so friendly This sheep behind me just ran up and greeted me And it is just so gorgeous [Music] [Mystery Bay] Tilba’s only a couple of kilometres from the coast So you’re only about a 10-minute
drive from Mystery Bay It’s definitely worth
checking out if you’re in the area [Music] [ How to get to Tilba ] Tilba is a scenic 5-hour drive
along the Princes Highway from Sydney And a three-hour drive from Canberra Premier Motor Service operates a direct bus from
Sydney Central Station to Tilba once daily And the trip takes 8 hours While there’s no direct bus from Canberra You can travel to Bateman’s Bay Then transfer to a Premier Motor

  1. Great video guys that was so well presented excellent work keep it up. I haven't to Tilba Tilba and will go there now that I saw this video

  2. That farm stay looks to be the perfect place to get away from hustle and bustle of daily Sydney burnout work. Hanging with farm animals and ocean not far away. I need to do this for a brain disconnect and relax.
