Hello everyone, this is Naru! Today we’ve come to a secluded inn in Nanbu-cho, Yamanashi Prefecture Funayama Onsen! Nanbu-cho is at the southernmost tip of Yamanashi Prefecture! The Fuji River flows gracefully through the center of the town embraced by deep mountains to the east and west It’s a nature-rich area! Funayama Onsen is located along the Funayama River, a tributary of the Fuji River, quietly nestled as a mountain inn Surrounded by forest, it truly deserves to be called a “hidden hot spring” The charm of this region extends to neighboring Minobu-cho as well In Minobu-cho, there’s Minobu-san Kuon-ji Temple, known as the head temple of Nichiren Buddhism! About access to Funayama Onsen! Tokyo Station → Shizuoka Station Shizuoka Station → Utsubuna Station, about 70 minutes Utsubuna Station → Funayama Onsen shuttle service available! (about 10 minutes) By car, from Shin-Tomei Expressway, take Shin-Shimizu JCT from Chuo Expressway, take Futaba JCT to enter Chubu-Odan Expressway About 10 minutes from Nanbu IC Let’s go to Nanbu-cho! Funayama Onsen is in Nanbu-cho, right! Yes, yes, yes! Today’s accommodation “Funayama Onsen” is in Nanbu-cho! The southernmost tip of Yamanashi Prefecture!! If we keep going this way, we’ll reach Shizuoka! They’re close! Shizuoka and Yamanashi! Nanbu-cho’s specialties are tea and bamboo shoots! Is it not the season now? Is it the season now? It’s spring, right? Yeah, that’s right! And there’s a roadside station on the way to that hot spring (Funayama Onsen)! At that roadside station, let’s look at various things and then go to the hot spring (Funayama Onsen)! Hopefully the rain will weaken by then… It’s pouring rain… 😂 Various souvenirs were being sold inside the store!! I’d like to buy some tea! Recently, tea after meals tastes delicious! *laugh* You’re drinking it a lot! I want some tea♪ There’s so many There’s so many! But this isn’t it! After all It says “Yamanashi Nanbu” Yorokobi-cha! There was a tasting!! It’s so green! Ah! It’s easy to drink! It’s so smooth! It looks quite rich Looks rich! Smooth! Easy to drink! Nice! I want to buy this and take it home! It has a gentle feeling Should we buy powdered tea? It’s easy to make The packaging is cute too Let’s buy this! It says “Kyusu Catcher”!! You can exchange it for a product if you catch a teapot!! With sophisticated facilities and a space where Japanese warmth is fused, the attractive feature is the leisurely 22-hour stay From the owner’s desire to “make it an inn for recuperation,” they pursue deep relaxation not experienced in daily life Distinguished from relaxing at home, you can experience a special feeling where mind and body are truly liberated Today’s room is 207! Let’s go! Wow, tatami mats! Tatami! The greenery visible from the window is so beautiful!! The window is big Wow! So beautiful!! You can see the river too! You can see the pond too! The rain looks beautiful too It really does! Even rain is nice♪ The view is really good♪ It feels like being in the forest! There’s a massage chair too! You can heal your whole body fatigue with this! There are two sofas too! Nice♪ You can relax here while looking at the fresh greenery You can sleep here too Yeah, you can sleep here too! You can sleep all day! Wow, a TV Isn’t it really big? This storage is nice! The TV is big!! It’s a BRAVIA. That’s an expensive one Ah! There’s samue work clothes inside! Cute!! Nice! How thoughtful! There’s a thermometer, sewing kit, and nail clippers! That’s nice♪ You want to cut your nails during travel! Eh! That’s nice! There’s even a sewing kit! Amazing!! So thoughtful♪ The attention to detail is amazing! Is that tea next door? The light turned on Ah! It’s tea! Coffee is inside It’s premium drip coffee! Ah! There’s a refrigerator too Isn’t the refrigerator big? You can buy something and cool it! Everything can be stored like this! Yeah! Nothing is sticking out It’s integrated with the wall And the restroom is toward the entrance! This Funayama Onsen check-in is from 1 PM check-out is until 11 AM That’s long! I guess they want you to take your time 1 PM check-in is the first time I’ve heard of it! That’s quite rare! You can really relax! There are so many baths too! How many are there? There are 2 large public baths and 2 private baths I think Moreover, the large public baths are available 24 hours! Private baths are from 5 AM to midnight Drinks too were free drinks! The 1st and 2nd floors had different types You can even drink wine! But you can bathe, drink, sleep and repeat! How wonderful!! Rainy days like this are perfect, aren’t they? You can take it easy, so it’s nice♪ Wow, I’m looking forward to spending time here!! Dinner is from 6 PM~
We’ll have it in a private room! 🙏 President Takei-san This is wine from Koshu City It goes well with soy sauce and miso dishes! So today, we prepared bear hot pot to pair with it It’s tender! It has no gamey taste at all, right! No gamey taste! It’s sweet!! The fat is so sweet and delicious!! Good No gamey taste at all!! That soup too has proper bear broth in it! Delicious!! I really had an image that bear meat was tough There is some chewiness It doesn’t melt completely It lived in the mountains grew up in the mountains so it has muscles The fat melts though! I probably shouldn’t say my personal preference but I like meat that you chew and enjoy I don’t really like meat that melts So, lean meat Even at yakiniku restaurants I basically eat with that preference!! His passionate thoughts about cooking come through!! Today we have wild boar hot pot! I haven’t eaten wild boar… Well, not much Our wild boar hot pot is made with miso base on the sweet side This wild boar fat is really sweet and delicious! You can eat this in about 10 minutes Please use the small plate and ladle to enjoy it! 10 minutes later The (wild boar meat) is quite big! The fat is substantial too! It really is The president said “enjoy the fat in game meat”! Mmm, yeah Yeah! More chewy than bear meat! Ah, but it’s not gamey at all! The fat too is sweet! As expected! Delicious!! Wild boar… Well, it’s meat I’ve never eaten! Right, right, right It has chewiness too What is it? But it’s not beast-like No gamey smell at all! You can eat it normally! How about the fat? How’s the fat? The fat is delicious! Sweet! This guy was running around the mountains! *laugh* Running in the mountains gives this chewiness that’s the result! That’s why it’s so muscular! It’s different from those raised around here! *laugh* It’s the taste of overcoming various hardships! *laugh* Night is deepening… Let’s eat!! Delicious!! It has great texture and is delicious!! The more you chew, the more flavor comes out!! Delicious!! The fat is really sweet! I might like this better than the wild boar hot pot Delicious! I always say this every time, but because it’s properly processed meat, you can eat it straight! If anything, hot pot can hide flaws. This can’t hide anything! That’s why we serve it with just salt and pepper because we’re confident! Wonderful!! The fat is really sweet!! Let’s have the wild boar with wasabi! Wow!! Freshly grated wasabi is delicious♪ Yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah It’s refreshing! When you chew this the flavor comes out and it’s delicious! It’s light! Not heavy at all! Really Delicious! I might prefer grilled over hot pot! So delicious~!! He said grilled can’t hide anything Grilled he’s confident about Delicious~!! I want to go to a yakiniku restaurant and eat wild boar I don’t think there are many! There seems to be demand! Well, but they probably can’t do it So delicious~ Yum~!! The water is a bit lukewarm so you can soak leisurely! Look at this scenery!! While looking at fresh greenery and listening to the babbling brook you can take a bath It feels so good! The fresh greenery got wet from yesterday’s rain and looks wilted which has a really nice atmosphere! It feels good from the morning~ Relaxing and leisurely from the morning being able to take a bath is the best start to the day!! Ah~ it feels so good~ Breakfast is from 8 AM~
We’ll have it at the same venue as dinner! 🙏 The main dishes are buffet style!! Let’s eat!! Everything looks delicious! It really does! Amazing Even though we ate so much last night I’m hungry! Fresh things weren’t greasy maybe! Good for digestion! So we can eat a lot in the morning too! This space is really wonderful! Light is coming in and it’s incredibly beautiful! They said it’s homemade tofu! There’s so much tofu!! Delicious!! It’s not silky but firm! Mmm! Delicious~!! You can taste the soybean goodness! This sauce is also delicious somehow~ Mellow! What should I eat? Hard to choose We came out to the garden This is nice too♪ It feels surrounded by pond and river Fresh greenery The green is incredibly beautiful! Also, the koi in the pond are really big! There were so many! How was the bath? The bath was good too! There’s an outdoor bath too Right, right, right! The large public bath had an outdoor bath attached! You can bathe while watching the waterfall That amazing powerful waterfall you can bathe while watching! The private bath has outdoor bathing type either outdoor bath or indoor bath That felt really good too! Because the water is lukewarm you can stay in forever!! By car: about 15 minutes Now we’d like to go to Kuon-ji Temple! Kuon-ji is the head temple of Nichiren Buddhism!! It’s Nichiren Buddhism! When we went to Kyoto before didn’t we talk about the three great gates? Kuon-ji’s mountain gate is one of Japan’s three great gates! What is Nichiren Buddhism? A Japanese Buddhist sect founded by Saint Nichiren in the Kamakura period (13th century)
Chanting the title “Namu-myoho-renge-kyo” is the center of practice! The mountain gate is really big! It’s really huge! Because it’s one of Japan’s three great gates! It’s 21 meters high! Is it bigger than Nanzen-ji? Nanzen-ji’s three-story gate is 22 meters high! It’s about 9 meters wide and 3.6 meters deep! It has atmosphere! Those stairs are called Bodai-tei (Bodhi steps) The main hall is ahead and there are 287 stone steps! This is amazing! You can’t see the top Isn’t this the path of training from here? *laugh* Can we climb it? Isn’t it quite steep? The angle too It’ll be good exercise! *laugh* Let’s do our best! It’s hot! It was totally mountain climbing! *laugh* I’m drenched in sweat! Sweat suddenly gushed out “whoa~”! I thought about going back to Funayama Onsen!! I want to go! I want to go back! I want to go back to soak in the hot spring Sweat is pouring out! The humidity is crazy! It’s really muggy today! That’s why it’s terrible. Ah~ I want to go back! Let’s just go back to soak in the hot spring! *laugh* And stay one more night! *laugh* The main hall is big! And isn’t it beautiful! Was it renovated? It’s wide! Because we climbed up there’s a sense of accomplishment! It feels like we finished our training! *laugh* Are we taking the ropeway now? Taking the ropeway let’s go to Mount Minobu. We toured inside too! (Photography is prohibited) There was a demon!! Inclined elevator connecting parking lot and temple grounds In Nishitani, there are Saint Nichiren’s tomb and hermitage ruins! ¥1,600 Ride time is about 7 minutes! Wow! Amazing!! Mount Fuji is visible! I can see it just right! Wow~! The snow on Mount Fuji has melted quite a bit We can see Mount Fuji! The clouds cleared! I thought we couldn’t see it because it’s cloudy but we can see it clearly! The clouds are moving! We can see the river too and the roads Can we see Nanbu-cho? Is Funayama Onsen there? Funayama Onsen is in the forest so we probably can’t see it It suddenly got cool It’s really cool when we came up! Because it’s 1,153 meters above sea level! Oh really! We went up quite a bit There was a bronze statue of Saint Nichiren! It’s totally different from below another atmosphere Mist came in and it feels fresh! It’s invigorating! Saint Nichiren’s cedar was amazing too! The cedar that Saint Nichiren planted! It was really magnificent! It’s amazing, really (The inner sanctuary) feels like worldly desires fall away Below was amazing too but this is more subdued! It feels like meditation would go well! *laugh* Thank you for watching!
