Good morning! This is Taraco. Last time, we enjoyed the most remote underground hot spring in Simofuro Onsen. It was a small inn, so we were able to enjoy it in a private chartered state☆

I’m heading south towards Lake Towada in a rental car. This time, we went to two places for a day trip to hot springs in Towada Lake and Hakkoda ♨️. At night, we will stay at a great, cheap hot spring inn. we will also introduce three recommended one-day hot spring trips. Please watch until the end! Yes, there is. Since we’re staying at a hotel that doesn’t provide dinner, we’ll stop by a roadside station to buy dinner. There are also many locally-grown vegetables and handmade side dishes. We’ll get dinner.
Let’s eat it together later (even if it’s just a token gesture). I’m starting to get hungry.
Let’s go and have lunch. We’re getting close to Lake Towada. Rather than red leaves, the yellow leaves are beautiful. It’s such a beautiful road that I can’t help but lean out of the driver’s seat. The right side is the Oirase Stream. We will be walking here early in the morning tomorrow, so please watch the next video🙇 Wow, it really is beautiful. We’ve come to Lake Towada The “Towada Shokudo” where I was going to have lunch is closed 💦 I think they ran out of hime masu, so it looks like they’ll be restocking in the morning. I’ll try again tomorrow. Lake Towada is famous for its kokanee salmon dishes.
I think I’ll be able to show you some in the next video. せっかくなので十和田湖を散策しましょう Since we’re here, let’s go for a walk around Lake Towada! This place also has a beautiful view. It’s like my heart is being washed clean. Shokudo Kamikochi, where I came to eat “Barayaki” has already closed😓 It seems like tomorrow is a regular holiday.
Hmm…💧 I can’t let this get me down. Here, I’d like to introduce three recommended hot-spring ryokans in the Hakkoda area 😃 All the inns have wonderfully atmospheric hot springs, and you can also visit for a day trip and bathe. Located along the road from Lake Towada to Hakkoda. The first is Tsuta Onsen Ryokan. A historic hot spring that has been around since 1147 AD
The wooden bathhouse, which gives you a sense of history, is very comfortable The hot spring water flows directly from the source, which is rare even in Japan. One-day pass: 1,000 yen for adults
500 yen for elementary school students and younger
10:00 – 15:00 (information at time of distribution) It seems that guests can also use the private baths. I wanted to go again this time, but I didn’t have enough time because of the travel 💧 The second house is “Yachi Onsen”. Boasting a history of 400 years since its opening, you can enjoy two famous hot spring sources. The “Upper Bath” is a 42°C hot spring with a cloudy white color due to sulfur.
The “Lower Bath” is a 38°C warm spring that gushes out from under your feet. One-day admission is 800 yen for adults and 450 yen for elementary school students and younger.
10:00 – 15:00 (information at time of distribution) This is another famous hot spring that you definitely shouldn’t miss!
Please go there without losing any time, just like me! The third is Sarukura Onsen. A sulfur spring with a huge amount of hot spring water gushing out, 100% natural hot spring water. The sulfur content is moderate and not too strong, so even those who don’t like hot springs with strong ingredients can enjoy it. One-day pass: 500 yen for adults / 300 yen for elementary school students and younger 9:00 – 15:00 / Saturdays, Sundays, and national holidays only (information at time of distribution) These three hot-spring inns are located within a relatively short distance of each other. In total, there are six hot springs, including the three I actually visited that I will introduce later… If you are in the area, please try to conquer them😃 Now, back to the real world… we’re heading to a certain facility. That’s right. It’s the Hakkoda Ropeway.
I want to record the autumn leaves as seen from the air. Huh? Something seems strange… You’re kidding! You’re laughing! I won’t lose! There is no such thing as closing or suspending operations here. Hakkoda Snow Marching Memorial Monument I came here undeterred, but…
it looks like I’ll have to climb a hill I’m not good at. The Hakkoda Snow March Incident.
It was made into a movie. It’s a very famous incident. January 1902 ,The 5th Infantry Regiment of the 8th Division of the Japanese Army left Aomori City, Aomori Prefecture. It was a snow march to Tashiro Shinyu on Mount Hakkoda.
The regiment was lost on the way. 199 of the 210 participants died.
(6 of them died after being rescued) the world’s largest mountain accident in modern mountaineering history. The purpose of the march through the snow was to prepare for the battle against Russia, which would take place in the severe cold. The causes of the accident were
①an overwhelming lack of research and little prior knowledge. ②Lack of awareness of the hardships of marching through the Hakkoda Mountains in winter.
Many of the members thought it was the same as trekking. The model for the memorial statue was Corporal Goto Fusanosuke.
He was found by rescue workers standing in a state of suspended animation, just like the statue. Goto was able to return alive, but he lost both his hands and feet.
He also attended the unveiling ceremony for this statue. Looking up at this memorial statue, it seems as if I can hear the pain and cries of those people from about 120 years ago. The statue teahouse, which had closed in 2018 due to financial difficulties,
is said to have reopened this year, with only the front store in operation. It’s beautiful, isn’t it? I made many trips back and forth between Lake Towada and the Hakkoda Mountains, but it wasn’t painful at all thanks to the autumn leaves! By the time we arrived at our next destination, the sun had already set. Now, where are we? This is a hint. Is it some kind of facility? The correct answer is here. Still, it’s a huge ryokan. The “Nebuta” floats are displayed in a way that is characteristic of Aomori. I had seen pictures of this place beforehand and had longed to visit the Hiba Thousand Person Bath for its great atmosphere. Well then, I’m off to enjoy the hot springs at Sukayu! Well, as expected of Sukayu Onsen.
I was overwhelmed by the quality and size of the spring water. As it is an acidic sulfur spring, it had a characteristic slightly sour smell. I wonder if it’s my imagination, but I feel like I’ve done something properly for the first time today. Does it look like a suspicious place? It’s getting pretty late, so I’m worried if they’re still open. That’s great!
The day trip hot spring was still open. This is a hot spring that I really like, with a nostalgic Showa-era atmosphere. An indoor bath like this.
The water is almost clear, but the sulfur is strong👍✨ I like the wildness of the open-air bath.
I was able to forget the passing of time and empty my head. It was very late when we arrived at our lodgings for the night. $22 per night for bed and breakfast☆
Even if you include the 200 yen for heating, the total is $23.33.(at the time of Recording) After 9pm, both the men’s and women’s baths become private baths, a wonderful system! Recently, there has been an increase in the number of private baths at Japanese hot-spring ryokan.
This is because there is a growing demand for private baths where couples, families and so on can spend time together.
Although guests are often given priority, there are also many ryokan where non-guests can also rent private baths. Apparently the women’s bath in the back is bigger. The room is a Japanese-style room on the second floor. TV in the alcove. どこでも お札を探すのは私のクセです
