Wow! I Can’t Believe They Have This In Manila! ♨️
Look at that. Check it out. It’s a jjimjilbang. My favorite place in all of Korea. But I’m not in Korea. I am still in the Philippines. And uh, I’m in Manila right now. I just finished my bike tour here. I did a bike tour from Cebu
City all the way to Manila. And I’m staying just down the street. I’m looking at the map and I see this
place—a jjimjilbang here in Manila. I couldn’t believe it. I had to come check it out. I came yesterday. I saw the pictures on Google. They look excellent. This place looks legit. There’s a couple Korean restaurants on the side. There’s a Korean grocery store right there. Hey! Nice people waving. And so yesterday I came here and I got the okay. I explained what I want to do. I introduced myself. And they said sure, you can come back. And so I’m here on a Thursday morning. It’s 9:00 in the morning. Obviously I want to come when
there’s not too many people here. But I don’t know what I’ll
be able to show in there. We’ll see. We’ll see. But let’s go check it out. I’m excited. I am excited. Good morning. What do you have down here? Is this like a beauty product area? Yes.
Beauty. Korean beauty products. Oh, that’s all Korean beauty products? Nice. Nice. But different company? Okay. Oh, the Hello Soul. Gotcha. The Lassma. How many years has it been open? Eight. Eight years now in this area? Wow. But we have an old— I think it’s total of 15 years. Oh, there’s another location? Oh, interesting. Okay. But this is the new— This is the new one. This is fancy. This is nice. Show you the packages real quick. They have three different ones. I was checking them out. There’s a sauna package. You can just go for 2 hours, 3 hours. There’s a massage one where you
can get a massage for 60 minutes. That’s 1150. And then they have the jjimjilbang package, which you get access to all the kilns, the
saunas, and you can stay for 12 hours. So I’m not going to be here 12 hours. But I definitely want to see
everything they have to offer. Sure. Yeah. Oh yeah. The sauna and bath. Awesome. They have done a great job here. I mean, it’s right up there with some
of the best ones in Korea to be honest. Sometimes in Korea there’s just
some really old jjimjilbangs, so some of the baths are just empty unfortunately. But this is a brand new place. They had like four or five different baths. You know, with different nutritional, medicinal properties like lemon,
ginseng, cypress wood and whatnot. I don’t know if that actually works or not. But you know, that’s kind
of how these rooms are too. Each room is going to have a
different medicinal, health benefit. And just like Korea, you’re
going to have your mats. And so this is how it works here. If you want to sleep here, if you
want to relax, you come in here. You get your mat. And then—God, it’s so Korean. You get your block pillow. Kind of find your area and you sleep. And so I’ve done this so many times it’s crazy. A lot of times if it’s not too busy
I’ll get two mats and two pillows. Kind of just find your space and sleep. More on that later. But over here we have the
family KTV, some karaoke rooms. The smoking room is back there. A couple areas here you can sleep. And so they’ve done a really good job. Attention to detail is really good here. Little things like this—this
feels so Korean to me. Over here you got some kids areas
if you want to bring your kids. And I can’t believe she was
telling me earlier—something like 150 to 200 people stay here on the weekends. That’s crazy. That’s way more than any place
in Korea that I’ve been to. You got a little workout area in here. You’ll see that in Korea too. A lot of times the old dudes
get up in the morning, work out. Something I should be doing too. Little hangout area right here
looking out onto the street. I mean it’s a really nice place. It’s really nice. They’ve done a great job here. And then this goes up to the sleeping room and the
VIP area, which I showed you a little bit earlier. Are you from where sir? I’m from the US. Oh, thank you. Oh wow, look at that. So this is just a private massage couple room? Yes. That’s really fancy. Nice. A little bit— Yeah, like what percentage of clients are Korean? Mhm. Like how many? Do many Koreans come here? Yes. I imagine. Like 50 baths every day. Mhm. And 300— So half Filipino, half Koreans maybe? Yeah. Koreans, Filipinos, all nationalities. Oh, nationalities? Chinese. Even Americans? Even Americans come here? Yes. Many Americans here. Oh really? My face is too big. What is this room? This is the way going to VIP room also. Oh, okay. The VIP people’s faces fit in there—it’s tiny. Oh nice. And here’s our biggest— A group of 12 all getting
massage at the same time? Yes. Nice. Nice. Oh, we got some pictures of— Have you been to Korea? No. No? You should go. You should go. I hope. The kimbap. And grilled egg. All righty, it is time for a little snack. And so I went with the kimbap. Let me show you that—it looks pretty damn good. The kimchi comes with a nice side of kimchi. That looks pretty legit. And I got a hard-boiled egg—or
they called it a grilled egg. I’m guessing they cook these
in the jjimjilbangs, I think. But yeah, let’s give it a go. This looks pretty good. Just like No Brand likes to say—it’s good enough. Is it good enough? I miss that crunch from the radish. [Music] Good. Now I guess here’s the real test. Is the kimchi legit? Nice and crunchy. Nice flavor. Ooh, spicy. Ooh, that’s spicy. That’s pretty good. Oh yeah. I like big jjimjilbangs. This is a nice one. And then into the ice room to cool down. Do this two or three more times. Go in the sauna, come in the
ice room, go in the sauna. And each time level up. Get a little bit hotter and hotter. The last one is 91° C. And I like that they have the
red digital thermometers here. Like that’s a nice touch too. That’s super Korean. So this attention to detail
here is pretty on point. The ones here are all electric. And so in Korea of course you’ll find the
traditional ones that are made from pine or oak. And like the one in Won that I
went to—that was made from pine. Smells good too. Because we have to wait until
the dust settles before going in. That makes sense. That was really cool. I got to see them make the
bonfire in the middle of it. Looked like some of the
hardest work I’ve ever seen. Some of the hottest, easily, that I’ve ever seen. I mean—socks that go over your feet. Mhm. Okay. Okay. Then go in that way. Okay. That is— That is so intense. It is so hot in there. All righty. So I think I’m just going to
chill out for a little bit. This place isn’t busy at all today, luckily. And so I’mma hang out right here and
watch some of this Manila traffic. But usually what I would do after I
cleaned up is I’d go get one of those mats. Go get one of those blocks. Find my corner. Like this would be a good place right here. You got an outlet right there. That’s a prime location right there. And so that’s why— I don’t know. That’s why I love jjimjilbangs. When I first got to Korea I didn’t know. I didn’t know about them. I went to a spa. But I didn’t know you could stay there. It wasn’t until I went back to Korea and
I was up in Ganghwa and I met Mr. Chong. He’s the one that gave me a discount
pass to one of the jjimjilbangs. And he was like, “Yeah, you
should go there on your way out. You basically just have to pay 1,000 won,
which is like 70 cents to stay overnight. But you can use the spa for free.” And it was just one of those days where
I was looking for a place to camp. I was like, you know what,
let’s go try this place out. They say I can sleep there. Let’s just do it. And so I went there. And from that day I was hooked. I was like this is perfect. You know, if you’re biking around the country, if you’re driving around the country—this
is how you can save a lot of money. If you don’t want to stay in hotels and whatnot. And so that’s what I did. I started making my way around the country. And every day I would start
looking for jjimjilbangs. If I couldn’t find one, then I would just camp. But there’s a lot—apparently there’s not as many
as there used to be because of the pandemic. A lot of them closed down and
never reopened apparently. But there are still quite a few. A lot of you know that I
lived in Japan for 11 years. And so I’m very used to the
hot spring and onsen culture. My massage got moved to 1:30. And so I’m just going to hang
out here for a little bit. It’s actually kind of hot right here,
so I might go find a cooler area. But I got a nice view. It’d be nice if I had a fan maybe. Ready? Okay. All right. Thank you so much. Welcome, sir. And George, you’ll be with Raymond. Excuse me, did you say Raymond? But uh, Raymond is a man. What if it felt good? It’s supposed to feel good. I don’t want it to feel good. Yeah, take them off. You don’t know? No, but you just told me. Korea. And we’re done. That was fantastic. That was— Man. Got my pampering out of the way, that’s for sure. I was in there for like almost six hours. And uh— Thank you, sir. Thank you, sir. Now that’s one thing you’ll
definitely not see in Korea. Security guards and a metal detector. But to be honest, you see that just about
in every store here in the Philippines. Like if you go to a mall, every
single store is going to have their own security guard at the front door. So it’s not just this place right here. But uh, yeah. That’s an excellent place. I give it— I don’t know, 10 out of 10 stars. Like if you want to experience a legit
jjimjilbang here in the Philippines— It has everything you could ask for. It’s clean. They have all the different baths. They have— I mean, little things like the shower that you can pull inside the
shower room to drench you real quick. Like, you’d only know that
if you’ve been to Korea. But there’s just a string that hangs from the
ceiling, and you can pull it and it soaks you. They have that here. Let’s see—some other minor details. They have—this was kind of—kind
of, I thought was kind of funny. I was trying to think of things that they
didn’t have that you might find in Korea. Because I mean, this place checks all the boxes. It has everything you’ll need. Good food. They have all the sleeping rooms. They have all the different temperatured rooms. They have excellent massage services. You know, I got one. I’ve actually never gotten a
massage in Korea, so that was new. But I was thinking like, what do they
have in Korea that you wouldn’t find here? And there were a couple things. The first one is the bucket
of soap in the shower room. The first time I went to a jjimjilbang in Korea, I was taking a shower and I noticed this big
old bucket of white stuff inside this bucket. And I was like, “What is that?” And then I noticed somebody go
over and rub his washcloth on it. And yeah, it’s soap. And I was like, “Oh, that’s pretty interesting.” And well, they don’t have that here. But they do have plenty of bars of soap. And then I was like, “Ah, another thing they might not have here
is the half-used tube of toothpaste.” And so that’s one thing I kind of find interesting
and weird in Korea is you’ll go to these jjimjilbangs and in the shower room there’ll be
like five or six half-used tubes of toothpaste. But in fact, here in the locker room, there was a Korean brand half-used tube of
toothpaste by the sink in the locker room. And I was like, “Oh, they do have it here.” But overall— Come check this place out if you want
to experience an authentic jjimjilbang. Anyways, I’m going to end the video here. Thanks for watching. And if you haven’t seen any of my other
videos in the Philippines, please do. I rode a bike from Cebu all the way to Manila. It’s a long ways. I went through tons of small towns. Saw some beautiful places. Ate some all right food. And made some good videos, I think. And I think you should check them out. So, signing off from Manila.
In this video, I’m taking you on a little tour of a jjimjilbang spa in Manila. I could not believe this place exists in the Philippines. I cycled in South Korea for around 3 months last year and I fell in love with the jjimjilbang. It’s so good. So when I got to Manila and was looking around on Google Maps, I couldn’t believe I was just down the street from one. I went and talked to the manager and they gave me permission to film and make a video inside. Big thanks to Lasema Spa Jjimjilbang for giving the grand tour and making my experience there very special.

Thanks for the video, Nick! Your attention to detail about the Jjimjilbang experience is outstanding—no one else would have covered it so thoroughly. The security guard with a rifle was definitely unexpected! Looking forward to seeing more of your videos from Korea. Stay safe and enjoy your time!
