30歲港女裸辭大嶼山梅窩耕田一年【下】:半農半X慢活出簡單自主人生

The last episode mentioned that I started a half-farmer, half-X life in Mui Wo, Lantau Island, for a year. Farming gave me calmness and courage. In this episode, I will share with you how this indifference helped me regain my independence in life. Many people asked me how I, a half-farmer, half-X, made a living? Or I asked everyone how to exchange for the necessities of life . Apart from money, what else can we rely on? Frankly speaking, the income from temporary free work is not stable. My job has just started to get on track. To maintain this kind of life at the current stage, I think the most important thing is to reduce expenses so that I can continue to do this. Fortunately, this This small community allows me to break out of the traditional monetary economic framework. In addition to obtaining my own needs through payment, I will think about what skills I have that can be exchanged for some opportunities here. I notice what the neighbors have needs and what skills I have can help them in exchange . The concept of bartering is like working in exchange for accommodation . For example: During the yellow peel harvest, the farmer needed volunteers to help harvest the yellow peel , and I happened to be able to help harvest the yellow peel and pack it for shipment. The farmer was willing to use his crops as reward in exchange for my sweat and labor, and I also got a tan at the same time ! Harvesting yellow skin will make you burnt in the sun and make you sweat . It will take me three months to make myself whiter , but what I get in return is the precious experience of harvesting yellow skin . The cultivation technology, knowledge and stories of yellow skin have enriched what I will share on guided tours in Mui Wo or when I go out. At the same time, I can eat sweet and big ones. Share Lantau Chicken Heart and Yellow Skin with more friends . It is this barter model that makes me understand that what I need in exchange for life is not just relying on money alone , but also exploring my own skills. My time and my knowledge are my resources. I can contribute to this small community and at the same time gain access to my life. When I break out of the box of only having to exchange money for what I need, this is the most critical step for me to achieve independence in life. Because of farming, I harvest a lot of crops. I usually cook at home and eat more vegetables and less meat. A family of two can cook three meals a day for a combined 100 yuan. Does it sound impossible? But what I have learned the most in the past few years is that there is a group of neighbors here. They teach me how to use different parts of crops to cook and eat limited ingredients to maximize the value. Nothing is wasted. For example, I planted carrots and I planted them when thinning the seedlings . A lot of carrot seedlings came out. We usually eat the roots, but my neighbor told me that these carrot seedlings and leaves are actually edible and can be used to make pesto. Add a few cloves of garlic, nuts, olive oil , a little basil picked in the field , and salt. Turn on a blender and stir it for a few times. It will taste delicious. The pesto sauce you buy for noodles tastes very close to the cost of frying a plate of spaghetti. It costs less than 10 yuan and you can already have a meal. The carrot leaves also taste very similar to parsley. They are like vanilla and can be used to scramble eggs. This is the whole food I learned in the process of farming. I use the wisdom of zero-waste food awareness to rediscover the original. We think it can only be used for composting or food waste. It should have edible value. The whole thing is very fun and it also breaks my own boundaries. In addition, when I left the mainstream life, I slowly gained an awareness and was able to distinguish which products I really need and which ones are produced by society. At the same time, I will also consider myself and consider whose hands the money I spend will fall into. I will establish a set of values of my own , and this set of values will help bring me to the right circle. Just like when giving gifts on holidays, I will no longer pursue big brands because I know that the large amount of money I give actually falls in the hands of others. Of course, if the endorsed celebrity is something I like, then that’s a different idea. Instead, I will choose some local small brands and products that are cooperating with some local farmers. Otherwise, I will buy directly from farmers or some producers in the area and try to put my own money back into the economy of my area. There will always be people around me who agree or disagree with my set of values. In fact, it helps me to understand whether the values of the friends around me match or not. My point of view is that if they match, they will come and go. But in the circle of South Lantau, I have found many fellow travelers. We exchange gifts made by ourselves. Be careful to exchange seeds for the vegetables you grow by yourself. This is a relationship and mode of getting along that I like very much. In addition to social autonomy, there is a kind of autonomy that I want to share in particular , which is the autonomy in food. You can choose which crops to plant, what cultivation and fertilization methods to use in the end, and everything can be cooked. It is true that farming depends on the weather and solar terms, but I feel that my life has a lot more autonomy. It is very convenient to buy food in supermarkets and markets. It seems that there are many choices , but unless you are familiar with the stall owners in the markets , many times we don’t know where the food we are eating comes from. It is derived from its farming methods. The dishes at the stalls are usually popular tastes or the varieties with the highest yield and cost-effectiveness. In fact, we have lost a kind of autonomy. At most, you can go to Citysuper for more varieties. But when you go to the seed store, you will find that in fact, each crop can have a different color. The color, shape, flavor , and taste of the crops will all be different. If you have time, you can visit some local farmers’ markets. You will find more varieties of seasonal vegetables than in supermarkets or street markets . If you want to know where there is a market or where local vegetables are sold, you can read the description of this column. Even if you can’t buy local vegetables , you can consider it. Grow my own vegetables. There happens to be a place nearby where I live. In fact, there are urban farms or rooftop farms in the city. A checkered field is available for more than 400 yuan a month , and it is more cost-effective. But the option you have to draw is the government community garden shop. In fact, it is 400 yuan for 18 weeks a year. Whether you are ready to go naked For friends who have resigned , are working, or retired, I encourage everyone to rent a field to grow vegetables for themselves. Whether it is for their own health knowledge or environmental protection, it is definitely a worthwhile investment. In addition, farming will basically not leave you with nothing to eat. Some crops planted last year have left some seeds in the field. When it reaches a certain suitable solar term, it will grow on its own. Amaranth, perilla , and other crude crops have appeared for no reason in a recent field . There are also many crops that are naturally raised, such as emperor vegetables. When I sow the seeds, I hardly need to take care of them. When I focus on other things , the crops will continue to grow and be harvested in two weeks. After harvesting the vegetables, they will grow again and continue to be harvested until the end. When it blooms, it can be used as an edible flower for food decoration , so I have a friend who considers growing vegetables as a passive income. In fact, it is worth our investment, but the prerequisite is to know how to choose the right vegetables to grow, because some vegetables really require a lot of effort to take care of and take care of. I feel very tired when I think of my experience when I planted watermelons last year. But the most important thing is to have dietary independence . In fact, the most important thing is to keep all the vegetables. Unfortunately, many of the remaining agricultural lands in Hong Kong are not included in the agricultural priority areas. This means that if the land that is not included in the priority areas is to be reused, the AFCD will not object. The unique ecology of the farmland landscape we see in front of us and the local varieties of vegetables will disappear because of this. It is actually a very pity. The happiest thing of the year is to be able to live in an independent country. Connect your community with nature and live your own rhythm. In fact, farming is not just about growing vegetables . It also cultivates courage and hope. Whether you want to quit your job or prepare to retire, I encourage you to try planting something . Even if it is a checkered field on the rooftop or a small potted plant, feel the satisfaction of creating it with your hands . Support local farmers’ markets, help protect Hong Kong’s farmland, and make our lives a choice.
