The world’s most famous azalea garden,Tatebayashi “Tsutsujigaoka Park” 2025

Hello, I’m Ichiro 😊 Today, I came to Tsutsujigaoka Park in Tatebayashi City, Gunma Prefecture. This is the main entrance. Admission to Tsutsujigaoka Park is usually free, but there is a charge during the azalea festival. The admission fee is ¥630 during the best time to see the flowers and ¥310 when the flowers are just beginning to bloom or past their peak. Today it is ¥630. April 24, 2025. I came one day earlier than last year. Tsutsujigaoka (Azalea Hill) Park is home to one of the world’s most famous azalea gardens. The park boasts 10,000 colorful azaleas of 100 different varieties. Today, we will explore the park following the walking map, visiting the old park, heisei azalea garden, and new park. After that, we will walk for about 10 minutes to see the Carp Streamers Festival. First, the old park. The locals call it “Hanayama” (mountain of flowers). Free guided tours depart every 30 minutes. The paths in this park are narrow, and the tunnels are low. At 180 cm tall, I have to duck to avoid hitting my head. However, the cramped feeling and the atmosphere surrounded by azaleas are also part of the charm of this park. I always think it would be nice if the music weren’t playing 😅 It’s just after the rain, so the azaleas are looking very lively 😊 Be careful not to bump your head. The azaleas are blooming in a variety of colors. 😊 The azaleas in this park are not pruned, so you can enjoy their natural shape. You can see a famous tree that is 800 years old. The azalea festival is held from April 8 to May 6. However, the best time to see them is actually from mid- to late April. Every year, after viewing the azaleas here, I visit Ashikaga Flower Park to see the wisteria. Both places are very crowded during Golden Week, so I recommend visiting on a weekday if possible. I’ve reached the easternmost point of the Mountain of Flowers (old park). I look forward to seeing the red azaleas here every year. It’s just after the rain, so the azaleas are looking very lively✌️ Watch your head. Now let’s go down the mountain of flowers and look at it from below. After this, we will see the wisteria at Ashikaga Flower Park✌️ This is the Heisei Azalea Garden. They are still low bushes. This is the 400-year-old Mountain of Flowers (old park). It was designated as a national cultural property and place of scenic beauty in 1934. Compared to the mountain of flowers, these are still low bushes. This is a Japanese garden. We can see the new park! There is also a tunnel of azaleas in the new park, so let’s go through it after this. This is the entrance to the new park. Although it is called a new park, it was built 43 years ago. The new park is about 300 meters long. The west exit is ahead. A 10-minute walk from the west exit will take you to the Carp Streamers Festival venue. The natural shape of the trees, which have not been pruned, is very nice. Amazing! 😃 This is the west exit. You can re-enter by showing your ticket. ✌️ Dogwood trees. I can see the carp streamers. It’s a really beautiful park. 😊 Let’s see the carp streamers from the bridge. Apparently, the number of carp streamers here is recognized by Guinness World Records. During cherry blossom season, it seems to be a spectacular sight with the cherry blossoms and carp streamers. Cute, slightly smaller carp streamers… The large carp streamers swaying in the breeze are beautiful.😊 We are back at the mountain of flowers (old park). Finally, let’s end with a look at the various azaleas in the park. A community cat, isn’t it? 😊 A carpet of flowers. 😊 Now, let’s walk down the mountain of flowers and end the video at the white dogwood tree. Thank you for watching the video until the end. See you in the next video😊

  2. Azaleas are pretty in colour but don't impress me as much as tulips, orchids or cherries. Your way of filming is professional and I like it very much. Arigato💚

  3. Wow, that’s an incredible location and video! What camera and gimbal did you use to capture such amazing footage?

  6. Thank you so much about this information and enjoyed watching the azaleas through you. ( watched time 9: 30, Japan time) ❤

  7. Pretty flowers. I agree they should not play that band music. Something more classical would be more appropriate. It’s great that it wasn’t so crowded because the walking areas are rather narrow. Would be so much better if there were big spaces.
