猫島で130匹の猫たちに癒される幸せな休日|宮城県田代島

Hello! I’m in Sendai station. Sendai is the prefectural capital of Miyagi Prefecture and the largest city in Tohoku. Today we will go to Miyagi’s cat island “Tashirojima” ♡ First, from Sendai, take the Senseki Line to Ishinomaki Station. Take the 7:24 train bound for Ishinomaki Station. The Senseki Line suffered significant damage in the 2011 earthquake. In particular, railway lines along the coast were washed away by the tsunami. The entire line was safely reopened in 2015, and it has been revived as a means of transportation for many people. Push the button yourself to open the door. It takes about 1 hour from Sendai Station to Ishinomaki Station. We arrived at Ishinomaki Station! Ah! Kamen Rider and Cyborg 009! Head to the Ishinomaki Chuo ferry terminal. There are no convenience stores on the island, so buy what you need in advance. It takes about 17 minutes to walk from Ishinomaki Station to the ferry terminal. We arrived near the ferry terminal. Boarding tickets can be purchased from automatic ticket vending machines. The staff will also support you. Tickets can be purchased with cash only. The round trip fare is 2,500 yen. The ferry is already waiting. Let’s get on board now. The name of the ferry to Cat Island is “See Cat”. I’m so excited about the ferry trip ♪ Tickets will be collected when you disembark. The inside of the ferry is very clean and spacious. Let’s explore a little. There is also a large TV. It comes with a spacious sofa that is safe even with children. There are also vending machines. I’m going to go to the second floor for fun ♪ Looks like the view is good from the open deck ♪ I heard that it can shake a lot depending on the weather, so I’m going to take a motion sickness medicine. The restroom is on the first floor. Found the stairs leading down! Some people are taking naps. Large sofa seat. Looks like you can relax♪ The ferry is about to leave, so let’s head back. Ferry departs! It’s great when the weather is nice ♪ It’s pretty fast. It takes about 40 minutes from Ishinomaki Chuo Station to Tashirojima. It’s a clear day, and the view is nice. There are no seagulls. The island came into view. Blue sky and blue sea. The best view. arrival! Hand over your ticket and disembark. This is Nitoda Port. There are two ports on Tashirojima: Nitoda Port and Odomari Port. This time we disembarked at Nitoda Port, where we could meet more cats. This is a waiting area. We will wait here for the return ferry. More than 130 cats live with the islanders on the island, which is approximately 11km in circumference. It is known as “Cat Island” because there are more cats than residents. Now, let’s walk around the island. The island is popular for fishing for oysters and abalone, and there are many fishing boats. The white ship stands out well against the sparkling sea. Island time passes slowly. Found the cat right away! The blue sea and black cat came closer to me . What a wonderful combination! It’s friendly. I hope we can meet again somewhere. Found a small shrine in the mountains! In the old days, fishermen used to collect stones for fishing. At that time, a stone hit the cat, seriously injuring it. Amimoto, heartbroken, built a shrine for the cat. Since then, fishing has continued to be good and there have been no accidents. As a result, cats came to be worshiped as gods. The sounds of birds and the wind are soothing. Found a cute girl. Hello. They welcome tourists without fear. thank you. For the health of the cats, tourists are not allowed to feed them. Cat toys and cat toys are also prohibited. The use of Actinidia is also not allowed. There are no trash cans on the island, so it’s a good idea to bring trash bags. There are cats all over the island. Cute ornament…? Hi! Hello. He’s used to the camera. Please let me take a few pictures. A kitten chewing on the grass ♪ How cute ♡ We came to the island station. “Shima no Eki” utilizes the former Tashirojima Elementary and Junior High School buildings. Stay hydrated♪ Cats are like family on Tashirojima. As a local cat, they are raised with care by everyone. Local people feed them every day. Each cat has a name. It’s heartwarming to hear him call you by name. It is said that there are currently around 130 cats living on the island. Cats live together and let nature take its course. The number of cats is strangely stable at around 150. At Tashirojima, all cats are not spayed or neutered. One of the reasons seems to be that cats have short lifespans. We also value the natural appearance of cats as a tourist destination. Surgery is performed when there are too many cats in a particular area. In this way, it seems that cats and people are devising ways to live comfortably together. It makes me feel so relaxed and soothed. The pattern on the back is so stylish. Beautiful fluffy hair. Even if you approach them, they won’t run away at all ♪ There are many children who are OK with petting ♪ In the past, sericulture was carried out on Tashirojima. The cocoons produced by silkworms are eaten by rats. Therefore, the island kept cats to get rid of rats. Cats were important to protect the cocoon and livelihood. Because of this background, it came to be called “Cat Island”. A sight you can look at forever ♡ Good morning ♪ They look like twins. He is sleeping soundly with his arms outstretched. Doze off. Thank you for letting me touch you so much. Preparing my hands. It’s soothing. It’s cute. All children are attractive. I went inside the facility and took a short break. Each cat has a name. It looks like it’s going to be nice ♪ It’s 10 minutes before the cats’ lunch time ♪ A lot of cats are gathering ♪ I wonder if they’re taking space? It looks like everyone can’t wait. Probably basking in the sun. It’s nice and warm here. You came ♡ You’re dozing off. Your mouth is cute. It’s too cute… Looks comfortable ♪ Even the paws are cute. You’re sleeping soundly. Maybe you’re getting better at finding cats. A little detour to “Abetsu Shoten-mae”! Although the store is currently closed, there are many cats gathered in front of the store. Carefully grooming. Hello. Her voice is cute. She’s cute even when she yawns. Unfortunately, the Tashirojima Historical Museum is closed. It seems like this is a shop where cats gather on a daily basis. Tashirojima is a small island with a circumference of approximately 11.5 km and is home to approximately 60 people. In the Great East Japan Earthquake, we were hit by an earthquake with a seismic intensity of less than 6 and a tsunami. The harbor, fishing boats, streetlights, and fences were also severely damaged. It is said that some people left the island in response to the disaster. Communication was cut off due to the earthquake, and the status of the island was unknown. Voices of concern for the safety of the cats spread across the internet. A reporter landed on March 31, 2011 and confirmed the surviving cats. Cats were also seen in the coastal areas affected by the tsunami. There seemed to be cats begging for food, just as they were before the earthquake. Although there was little coverage, Tashirojima was also severely damaged by the tsunami. By the way, the tourists on the day of the earthquake were rescued by Self-Defense Force helicopters eight days later. The suffering of Tashirojima due to the earthquake cannot be expressed in words. However, the story of how the island overcame these hardships with its cats will continue to be passed down from generation to generation. Here at Tashiro Shokudo, you can enjoy meals made with seafood from the island. A lot of cats came together. Some cats wear collars. Maybe a kitten. Small and cute. You can buy cat food here at Gachagacha. It can only be given to the cat in front of the dining room. Her sleeping face is cute ♡ Her collar is cute with flowers. I’m sad, but it’s time to say goodbye. It’s time for the ferry home. Anyway, it was a relaxing day ♪ Thank you everyone and cats on Tashirojima. I’ll come again! Thank you for watching until the end.
