【鎌倉散歩】湘南を代表する古都、鎌倉を歩く 極楽寺~長谷~小町通り~鶴岡八幡宮~鎌倉駅

good morning. Today we will take a walk through Kamakura, the ancient capital that represents Shonan. Gokurakuji Station has an old-fashioned station building with red mailboxes. I would like to walk towards Kamakura Station from this quiet station. It looks like the train has just arrived. I like the retro feel of Enoden. By the way, the tunnel mentioned earlier is the only tunnel on Enoden. First, let’s go to Gokurakuji Temple, which is also the name of this place. The thatched-roofed Sanmon gate is lovely. During the cherry blossom season, this place is lined with cherry blossom trees. Although it is not flashy, it is a nice temple with a calm atmosphere. It’s a quiet temple, so it felt nice to take a walk in the morning. I would like to go up the stairs. At the top of these stairs is a temple called Jojuin. Photography is not allowed inside the temple grounds, so I would like to move on. The sea looked beautiful from here. Although it is a little far away, the contrast between the sea and the approach to the shrine is nice. The hydrangeas also bloom beautifully along this approach. The number of flags is amazing. This retro store called Chikara Mochiya has been around for over 300 years, dating back to the Edo period. It’s a popular store with people lining up from the morning. Goryo Shrine has a torii gate just behind the railroad tracks. Photography is also prohibited inside the temple grounds. Please respect etiquette when taking photos. It’s amazing that the railroad tracks are right in front of the house. It looks like you can enter this shop by crossing the railroad tracks. There are still not many people around Hase Station at this time. There are two giant statues of Buddha, Hasedera Temple and Kamakura Daibutsu, near Hase Station, so there are quite a lot of tourists during the day. If you go straight ahead from here, you will reach Kamakura Daibutsu. Turn left and you will see Hasedera Temple. I dashed because the traffic light was about to change. By the way, I turned right, not straight or left. Yuigahama Boulevard is full of historic buildings and fashionable shops. There are quite a few retro shaved ice machines out there. Are you still active? (That can’t be true.) It’s a stone monument and a large tree. It seems that the main horse is Morihisa no Juza. Kamakura is also where historical things suddenly appear as you walk. The smell of freshly baked bread made me turn around. This “Sunshodo” seems to have been designated as a Kamakura City Landscape Important Building. It’s a building with a sense of history. This “Yori Dokoro” is open from 7:00 a.m. and seems to be a popular restaurant for breakfast as well. There are six Jizo statues lined up here. Its name is “Rokujizo”. That’s true. This shop, Hamayu Shoten, has even appeared in a movie. It seems that the store was renewed in 2021 and made it beautiful. It seems like Onari Street is used by both tourists and locals. Kamakura Station came into view. There aren’t many tourists at the west exit, so it’s less crowded than the east exit. That’s why it’s so easy to take a walk. When you enter the back street, there are almost no people. Kamakura has many sweets shops. I can’t help but want to stop by. From here, we will enter the popular Komachi Street. I guess there aren’t that many people yet? Maybe there are a few people after all? There are no people at all. There was a food stall village. Apparently it’s called a bastard cat. You have a face that I can’t hate. This is Mameya, a leading figure in Kamakura’s souvenir shops. I’m happy to be able to try it. Of course, I don’t just sample it, I also buy it. perhaps. Croissant taiyaki? I am destined to buy taiyaki whenever I see it, so I would like to try it. I chose koshian. I think the main part of taiyaki is tsubuan, but it was rare. Unlike ordinary taiyaki, the surface is actually a croissant. (That’s right) Thank you for the freshly made and piping hot food. If you are interested in “ICHIBANYA”‘s croissant taiyaki, please check it out! Next door is “Tomoya”, which sells the Great Buddha statue, which is popular for its impact. I’d like to have this too, but I’ll refrain from doing it in succession. Komachi-dori Street is full of attractive shops, so you’ll want to eat while you’re there. There’s a well here. It is said to have the name “Kurogane no I” (Iron Well), and it is said that the water never dries up at any time. The sidewalks in this area are narrow and there is a lot of traffic, so be careful when walking. A large torii gate has come into view. Now, let’s go to the big boss of Kamakura, Tsurugaoka Hachimangu Shrine. There are also a few food stalls. There were people who were getting married from the front. congratulations! I can hear the unique sounds of that shrine. It’s another wedding. Was this an auspicious day? Anyway, congratulations! The tower gate of the main shrine is magnificent. The 8 of this Hachiman Shrine depicts Tsuchinoko. That’s a lie. It’s a pigeon. Now, let’s go visit. The carp are gathering here. Maybe there was something wrong with it since no one was feeding it? This pond is Genji Pond. The pond to the left of the entrance earlier is Heike Pond. Now, let’s take a walk to Kamakura Station. Let’s take a walk down the back alley. Even though there were so many tourists, when I entered the alley, there was no one at all. It’s really fun to walk down alleys like this. You can feel a little adventurous. I arrived at Wakamiya Oji, the main street in Kamakura. The back alley exploration is over. The large torii on the right is the second torii. The third torii gate was in front of Tsurugaoka Hachimangu Shrine, and the first torii gate is located south of here toward the sea. From here to Tsurugaoka Hachimangu Shrine, Dankatsu is lined with beautiful cherry blossom trees. The guardian dog is also huge! I returned to Kamakura Station. That torii is not Tsurugaoka Hachimangu Shrine, but the one at the entrance to Komachi Street. Kamakura can be quiet or lively, and it offers a variety of colors, including stylish shops and historic buildings. I had a very satisfying walk. Thank you for watching until the end. If you’d like, let’s go for a walk together again.
