Vol.2【4K walk tour】 Night walk in Osaka | Cherry blossoms and Osaka River Fantasy | Easy Walks Japan
Hello everyone, konnichiwa! Thank you for watching our video. Today we enjoy cherry blossom viewing at night along the Okawa River in Osaka. The starting point is Sakuranomiya Station on the JR Osaka Loop Line. From here we will walk along the riverbed of the Okawa River and head to Keihan Railway’s Temmabashi Station. The area we will be walking through this time is one of the most popular cherry blossom viewing spots in Osaka. Approx. 5,000 Somei-Yoshino cherry trees are planted along the river for 4km, and many food stalls are set up along the river. There are a lot of people here not only during the day but also at night. Speaking of Osaka, the cherry blossoms at Osaka Castle are also famous. Along the Okawa River, you can experience a different atmosphere seeing the city lights reflected on the river surface and boats. By the way, it seems that Japanese people have had a special feeling for cherry blossoms since ancient times. Almost every year, someone writes in their diary that the cherry blossoms have bloomed. And the data of cherry blossom flowering dates has been accumulated for over 1,200 years. Quite amazing. In the second half of the video, we also filmed an event that can only be experienced at night. This is the “Osaka River Fantasy” fountain show that started in April 2025. I hope you enjoy the video until the end. On the other side you can see the railway bridge of the JR Osaka Loop Line. A boat passes by. I’d like to take a ride once. From here we walk along the banks of the Okawa River. The street lights and cherry blossoms of Genpachi Bridge are fantastical and beautiful. The building on the right is a complex facility, – – built on the site of a now Mitsubishi Materials factory covering apprx. 5 has. You can see a “yakatabune”, Japanese traditional houseboat. There are many types of boats operating on the Okawa River, including houseboats where you can enjoy BBQ. This is the dock in front of the Imperial Hotel. A combination of airplanes, houseboats and cherry blossoms at night. So cool. Food stalls are set up only during the cherry blossom season. What kind of stalls do you like? You can also see beautifully lit up Shin-Sakuranomiya Bridge in the background. We passed under Sakuranomiya Bridges. On your right is the Mint Bureau.
During cherry blossom season, you can walk through and see rare varieties of cherry blossoms. Here are many cherry blossom viewing visitors. Many types of food stalls make your night special. Now I can see Temmabashi bridge. Temmabashi, along with Tenjinbashi and Naniwabashi, is one of the most important and beloved bridges in Osaka since the Edo period. These were the largest bridges at the time, and were known as the Three Great Bridges of Naniwa and were under the direct control of the Edo Shogunate. The current Temmabashi Bridge was replaced with a Gerber steel girder bridge in 1935. It is famous as a girder bridge that is well-balanced appearance, being described as a bird with its wings spread. You can see the Keihan Railway’s Temmabashi Station on the opposite bank. Do you know this sound? This is a ramen stall. Most Japanese people immediately recognize it when they hear the sound. Cherry blossom trees continue. The food stall zone was over, but there are still many people enjoying cherry blossom viewing picnic. Cherry blossoms in full bloom. Tenjinbashi Bridge, one of Naniwa’s Three Great Bridges, comes into view. In the summer, the Tenjin Festival, Osaka’s largest festival, is held in this area. Tenjinbashi Bridge and sakura, cherry blossoms. The combination with the illuminated cherry blossoms was beautiful and moving. The blue glowing part is a staircase that leads down to Nakanoshima Park. The fountain show had started. The show is held every 30 minutes, so we filmed later from the opposite bank. The EXPO 2025 theme by song Kobukuro’s was playing. Let’s cross the Tenjinbashi bridge. The fountain show of Osaka River Fantasy is starting. It is held everyday until February 2026. Head to Temmabashi Station. On the 2nd floor of the building on the right is a sushi restaurant. It must be a good view of the water show from there. Thank you for walking with us tonight in Osaka.
