China’s Living Ancient Water Town:Is It the Venice of the East?
Hello everyone, welcome to my channel.
Today, I have arrived at Zhouzhuang Ancient Town.
Zhouzhuang Ancient Town is located in the southwestern part of Kunshan, Suzhou, Jiangsu Province, China. It lies in the “Golden Triangle” area between Shanghai, Suzhou, and Hangzhou. As one of the most famous water towns in China, it is known as the “No.1 Water Town in China.”
Founded in the first year of Yuanyou in the Northern Song Dynasty (1086), Zhouzhuang has a history of nearly a thousand years. The town is characterized by “small bridges, flowing water, and traditional houses.” More than 60% of the buildings in Zhouzhuang date back to the Ming and Qing Dynasties. With its network of waterways, riverside residences, and tranquil ancient charm, Zhouzhuang preserves the authentic scenery of Jiangnan water towns, attracting countless visitors.
