My Hakuba winter #hakubavalley #hakuba

Although Hakuba has never been my first choice for relocation, since I was somewhat intrigued by this opportunity, I came here.

After coming here, many unexpected things happened, including the job content being different from what was originally stated. Still, I am grateful for the opportunity to come to Hakuba.

During this snowy season, I made quite a few friends. I used to think that coming to Japan to work meant not getting involved with Taiwanese circles. In my work environment in Japan, there had never been Taiwanese people until I came to Hakuba, where I experienced how different it is working with Japanese people compared to Taiwanese.

First time working in a Taiwanese company in Japan
First time running a pension
First time making breakfast for guests
First time living in a snowy area
First time meeting up with my whole family in Japan
First time seeing pink snow-capped mountains
First time shoveling snow
First time calling for roadside assistance
First time going to pachinko
First time cutting someone’s hair
First time encountering a skiing-induced amnesia guest
First time meeting Murao himself and shaking his hand 😆
First time riding a hot air balloon
First time building a snowman, although it accidentally turned into Patrick Star 🫢
And many, many other first times……

During this snowy season, I suddenly talked with my colleagues about a world tour cruise in Japan. Seven years ago, when I saw his poster on the streets of Japan, I always wondered when I could quit my job for three months and take that cruise. Just when I started to forget about this idea, I saw an opportunity again. Maybe leaving my current job for three months wouldn’t be a problem, so I signed up to volunteer as an interpreter for this cruise.

In this new journey, I am sure I will encounter many unforeseen things. Even if they don’t meet expectations, all these experiences will be nutrients for my growth.
