During the 70’s I went to school in the Muurhuizen. Its was the same building where my mother went to school in the 30’s! Nowadays they were all converted to apartment houses.

"It used to be attached to a church, but the church is no longer there".
The church exploded in 1787, as churches do. It was used as a black powder storage and as a lab for filling grenades with charges.

When are you going to move to Amersfoort? ;o) It must feel good that winter has ended, and spring is there, hopefully to stay for a bit.
Mondriaan's earlier works: "My toddler defenitely couldn't make that". The OLV tower was chosen to be the center of the Dutch map projection and had the zero coordinates in the late 19th century. Since then the country has changed by Flevoland and the measuring methods have changed too.
There is also so much to see outside the city centre. Amersfoort is great to visit and to live in.

you should Visit Barneveld close to Amersfoort it is smaller but nice 🙂
My wife and I (and dog!) are moving to Amersfoort from the US in September where we have a short term rental to start our DAFT application! We were there for four nights in October and stayed across the canal from the Mondrian House. We loved the city and are super excited to have found a place there to live (at least short term). Thanks for showing more of what’s in store for us this fall!

i always get deeply sad if i have to work in any city, Amersfoort is no diferent.
i live in a small village (Kerkdriel) i'm always happy to leave the busy cities behind me and head back home.
Please go to Maastricht again and go to Reitz, they 10000% have the best patatje zuurvlees with mayo in the world !! i travel across the netherlands atleast once a year just for that 😆
I lived and worked in Amersfoort for 15 years and my daughter and grandchildren are still living there. Lovely city!

Amersfoort. You missed the best place in Amersfoort. The medieval farm de bergkamp. It is on landgoed Schothorst. Every 1st sunday of the month its openen. The one in april is really nice to visit. Then there is a "fashion show" through the years from the Iron age untill now.

Rotterdam has no beach. It's Hoek van Holland beach.
Besides Den Haag and Amsterdam (Stedelijk and Rijks) (and Amersfoort obviously), there's more Mondriaan to be seen at the Kröller Müller museum on the Hoge Veluwe… From what I can remember from my visit there (a long time ago) the pieces featured there are a great representation of the development of his style from figurative to abstract…
Amersfoort is the family friendly version of the city of Utrecht😊 And when you need some extra city vibes the city of Utrecht is just a short train ride away from Amersfoort 😉

I've lives in Amersfoort for a few years in the inner town. I love Amersfoort too. Would like to return someday.
Appelstroop and cheese is a staple here in the Netherlands, especially the south. And even more so in municipality Beekdaelen, where I live. As one of the villages, Schinnen, historically had a producer of Appelstroop, Canisius. One certain days it smelled delicious driving past it.
