Discovering the Savage Beauty of Ireland’s West Coast
We’re exploring Galway, Ireland’s BREATHTAKING natural beauty and charm. Galway is an incredibly charming and lively city on Ireland’s west coast. Today, we’re heading out into some of the incredible nature that surrounds it. Come along as we experience the savage beauty of the Connemara! This is a region that has all the ingredients: stunning views, pristine lakes, spectacular mountains, medieval history, movie magic, delicious local food, warm and friendly people…it’s all here and we’re bringing you along for the adventure. ✨ We are particularly excited to visit Aughnanure Castle, built in the late-1400s and full of stories. From there we’re checking out The Quiet Man Bridge, featured in the 1952 film starring John Wayne and Maureen O’Hara and directed by John Ford. We are also visiting Joyce Country Sheepdogs to take in a sheepdog demonstration by third generation sheepdog farmer Joe Joyce (whose border collies appeared in the 2008 film ‘Marley & Me’ starring Jennifer Aniston and Owen Wilson). Stick around as we also visit the village of Cong in County Mayo to see the Pat Cohan Bar, which also featured in The Quiet Man. We end the day at Cong Abbey whose century-old ruins are incredibly well preserved.
Have you been to Galway and the spectacular Connemara region? Would you like to visit?

What's your top pick: scones + castle or mussels + sheepdogs? 🏰🐾☘🇮🇪
A Murder Hole? OMG !! The castle has an amazing, savage history. Love this video for beauty of Ireland and of course the sheep and dogs too.
Always a joy to watch you go! 🙂
Wonderful, you two! 🍀 I would love to see castles anywhere I would go! Yes, layers of rich history.
"don't shoot" cute, Marc 🤭
Bridge was awesome and views and couldn't agree more with sheep and sheep dogs. "Craic" (I had to look that one up 😉) 💚
👍🙋🙂👏
Hey guys! I served ye in Scon during your stay in Galway! It was such a pleasure to meet you both <3
Looks like a really fun day, especially being so sunny. A very beautiful area. Castles, dogs and great seafood all sound good to me.
