Fukuyama, Ashida River and Inari Temple Walk (Virtual Tour) (4K) (AJ Walks)
Moody start to the day, pleasant walking weather to wander the riverside before having to check out and move on. Quite a charming suburban area by the river, but with a surprising amount of traffic coming in at rush hour. Quite a juxtaposition between the business of the main roads and the peacefulness of the river walk, Inari bridge and shrine, and the backstreets returning to the main station.
Fukuyama is known as the Rose City, apparently something that was started in the rebuild efforts after World War II to give a sense of civic pride, and it took off in a big way. Beautiful blooms everywhere, and some nice flourishes on signs and yes, even manhole covers.
