  3. music ❌❌❌ And of the people is he who buys the amusement of speech to mislead [others] from the way of Allah without knowledge and who takes it [i.e., His way] in ridicule. Those will have a humiliating punishment.

    (Quran : 31:6)

    "amusement speech"

Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him), the father of this community, says that means music.

And Mujahid (RA) says that it refers to the instrument called "drum" (Tafseerut Tabari 21/40).

“لهو الحديث” all the haraam idle talk, the words that induce kufr and sins, the talk that refutes the truth, the ulterior, the planet, the lie, the slander, the lashing, the distracting events that do not in any way lead to the world and the hereafter, singing, the flute etc.

Safi (RA) says that the expression means

    (Tafseer al-Safi 6/150)

  4. And return [in repentance] to your Lord and submit to Him before the punishment comes upon you; then you will not be helped.

    (Quran : 39:54)

And follow the best of what was revealed to you from your Lord [i.e., the Qur’an] before the punishment comes upon you suddenly while you do not perceive,

    (Quran : 39:55)

  8. There is a lot to learn here for people in the tourism industry from this video. I would like to share some thoughts that I hope would be helpful for the tour guides and locals alike. Quick background, I am a Pakistani that has been living in USA for 25 years. My wife is American and we are a very active outdoorsy family with boys aging 10 and 14. We have been to 35 National Parks in USA. We have seen 100's of waterfalls, mountains, valleys, deserts and did several 7+ miles hikes in all kinds of terrains and elevations. We have travelled Africa, Asia, Europe, Central America, and Middle East. With that said, just like all the fingers in the palm are not the same, human beings are different and have different needs. When interacting with foreigners coming to Pakistan, they are different compared to the locals in several ways. First thing first, comfort in a foreign country is very important. A nice clean and comfortable room is a basic need. People need air conditioning in summer and heat in winter. Warm water in showers is a must have for most foreigners. Most people in foreign countries have never used/experienced a WC, so it is uncomfortable for them and having a commode in the toilet area is very important along with toilet paper. Average hotels in foreign countries have all these things so it means it is an expectation that you will have these basic needs covered when it comes to accommodation.
Food is another important item. People eat early in general so breakfast is generally between 6 am – 8 am commonly. People often eat a variety of food commonly. Food allergies are real so it is important to know them before ordering any food for the guests (as it can be life threatening in some cases for some people because they can choke because of the allergies). Foreigners often are not used to eating meat with bones. So often times, offering/serving boneless meat is a good idea. Everybody's tolerance when it comes to spices is different so knowing that and ordering food accordingly will completely change their food experience. A ton of people in foreign countries are vegetarians so knowing that is also very important because an amazing place that serves bbq and other traditional meals will not benefit a vegetarian because they can't even try as an example any kind of meat based meal. Basic hygiene is very important, it is unfortunate that we see often in Pakistan in smaller food establishments that they use the same cloth to wipe the plate and use it clean something else that is not appropriate. It can be very uncomfortable and make it difficult for people to eat.
Service in most foreign countries make or break the experience. I have heard from some friends that when they go to a restaurant, I am using this as an example that they asked for some salt or something minute and they in some cases had to wait for a while or were responded in an impolite manner. People will most likely ask politely for something they need, being attentive and helping them is common courtesy and people expect the same politeness and courtesy in response. If they don't experience that, it leaves a bad impression about the locals/culture and service in general and becomes a talking point for these people when they are asked about their experience about a place they visited/experienced.
Flexibility is the key when it comes to travel. Understanding the needs and interest of people is huge. What one would consider an amazing experience, might not be of any interest to the person or group. In this video you noticed that the family was interested in interacting with the locals, trying to understand the local culture and way of life for people was more important to them then other things. The families interaction and questions about local cuisine I bet would be a highlight for them and to most locals it might be of no interest.
Fitness level and interest in activities is also another important item. For instance in this video only one young man was interested in the hike and rest of the family didn't show any enthusiasm towards it. If it was my family as an example, we would have been all over it.
Time is a commodity that travelers don't have much. It is important to be respectful of the time. When people commit to a time that are travelling from foreign countries, they are generally ready at that time and expect the same from others. So in Pakistan we often hear 5 minutes which essentially means 30 minutes to an hour. No joke, this becomes a deal breaker after it happens more than once. People don't like it and it is considered disrespectful.
Open and clear communication is very important. It sets the expectation in people's mind. For instance, if you can't do anything just tell them flat out and reasoning behind it and they will understand and respect that.
People in Pakistan are generally very hospitable and courteous. Going above and beyond is very nice but you don't have do that all the time. Sometimes it can backfire and that is what one must avoid.
Safety and security in general is very important for people anywhere in the world. So sometimes, taking un-necessary risks that can jeopardize you physically or emotionally is not a good idea so avoid taking un-necessary risks to please people is very important.
This is probably the longest post I have ever had so I will stop here. Even though it is common sense and basic stuff, however I am hoping it will be helpful for some people. God Bless you all!
