明治神宮は、東京の代々木地区にある大きな神社で、新宿という巨大な商業地区の少し南西にあります。
周囲のコンクリートジャングルから離れたこの美しい緑の隠れ家は、日本が近代国家となった明治天皇 (1852-1912) を崇拝するために 1920 年に建てられました。
広大な代々木公園の隣にある明治神宮は、まるで田舎のような雰囲気で、日本で最も訪問者が多い神社の 1 つです。明治神宮は昼夜を問わず散歩するのに最適な場所です。主な建物には、本殿、拝殿、神楽殿などがあり、伝統的な神道建築の美しさが際立っています。
明治神宮は、山手線の原宿駅または代々木駅から歩いてすぐのところにあります。周囲の代々木公園には、1964 年のオリンピックの会場があります。明治神宮から代々木公園を挟んだ反対側にある丹下健三設計の国立代々木競技場は、このオリンピックのために建設され、今でも東京のランドマークとなっています。

Meiji Shrine is a large shrine in the Yoyogi district of Tokyo, a little southwest of the huge commercial district of Shinjuku.
This beautiful green hideaway from the surrounding concrete jungle was built in 1920 to worship Emperor Meiji (1852-1912), who established Japan as a modern nation.
Located next to the vast Yoyogi Park, Meiji Shrine has a rustic feel and is one of the most visited shrines in Japan. Meiji Shrine is a great place to stroll around day or night. The main buildings include the main hall, worship hall, and Kagura hall, and are a beautiful example of traditional Shinto architecture.
Meiji Shrine is a short walk from Harajuku or Yoyogi Station on the Yamanote Line. Surrounding Yoyogi Park is the site of the 1964 Olympics. Across Yoyogi Park from Meiji Shrine, the National Yoyogi Gymnasium, designed by Kenzo Tange, was built for the Olympics and remains a Tokyo landmark.
