Join me on this VR 360° walking tour video in Gimmelwald, Switzerland. Gimmelwald is a small traffic-free village in the Bernese Oberland in the Canton of Bern, Switzerland, and is located between Stechelberg and Mürren, at an elevation of 1363 meters. It was my favorite village after spending a week in the Jungfrau region. Unspoiled from the masses, it has about 100 inhabitants and the cow bells are the most noise you will hear.

I came across this excellent “tour” when I noticed it is of the region my great grandparents immigrated from in Switzerland in the mid 19th century. I have a little goat? bell from their family farm and my grandmother still spoke with their accents, but had no idea how mountainous a region it truly is until I saw this! Family legend has it that they went out in their fields one morning to find a long line of bloody footprints silently left behind in the snow by Napaleon’s retreating army after its defeat in Russia. In this kind of terrain? Can you imagine? Yikes! 😣
