🏠 The Fukusumi Important Preservation District for Groups of Traditional Buildings is located in Tamba-Sasayama City, Hyogo Prefecture. This district is known for its historical significance as a post town during the Edo period and its well-preserved traditional architecture. The area covers approximately 25.2 hectares and includes four villages: Fukusumi, Kawahara, Yasuguchi, and Nishinono.
Fukusumi was designated as an Important Preservation District in 2012 due to its distinctive traditional buildings and the surrounding environment that reflect the regional characteristics. The district features a mix of two-story houses with tiled roofs and plaster walls, as well as thatched-roof farmhouses.
Visitors can enjoy walking through the historic streets, which offer a glimpse into Japan’s past and the architectural styles that have been preserved over centuries.
