Meet Nguyenvanhoan or Ngoan for short. Today we went to Tam Coc, which is nicknamed the inland Ha Long Bay 2 hours North from Hanoi. Tam Coc is a popular tourist spot for the sampan rowing boat rides including rowing through rice fields, limestone karats and very low caves…That was the best bit.
Ngoan, 71, has been rowing ever since he was 10 years old and was an absolute pleasure. Very friendly and even at one point starting rowing with his feet… which he made look very easy! Random fact, Ngoan was an extra in the movie King Kong. The Skull Island scene was filmed literally 5 minutes away from this very spot! How cool is that?!
