Tateyama Snow Corridor – 65 Feet High Snow Walls

The 65 feet high Snow Walls Corridor in Tateyama Japan is part of the Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route in Toyama, Japan, the so called roof of Japan.

The famous snow corridor can have snow walls of up to 65ft in height, which line the roads of the famous Alpine Route and runs for a 500 meter stretch of road.

From mid April to the end of June, this roadway is a major tourist attraction in Toyama prefecture, but from December to April it is completely inaccessible.

Thanks for watching.

  1. I have experienced driving trough a snow canyon like that when driving along the Norwegian coast going from Tromsø to Kirkenes. Several of the mountain passes closer to Tromsø had 3 to 5m high walls of snow like this.

  2. you would think they wouldn't want the walls vertical…that they should be grooming the side like excavating soil.

  3. What an astonishing thing this must be, a million people traveling to see it each year! The lesser maintained snow trail that’s next to, near the actual paved snow corridor, that must be for snow mobiles or smaller, single occupant machines I’m guessing?

  4. 日本では雪が自然のダムとなって春になると雪解けと共に清流が川を下り国土は常に潤って森の腐葉土の栄養をたくさん含んだ水が海に流れて豊富な魚介類が成長しています
