京都の梅は、2月中旬から3月上旬に見頃を迎えます。中国から入ってきた梅は京都で咲き、花と言えば梅と言われるほど平安時代初期までは、桜より梅の方が愛されていました。特に枝垂れ梅の美しさでは城南宮が人気。150本のしだれ梅がうすべに色や紅白の花を装い、梅林を通り過ぎる場所では、しだれ梅と落ち椿の景色も楽しむことができ、春の訪れを感じさせます。
